Pittsburgh Ballroom is one of the best dance clubs in Pittsburgh. I've been a memeber for a few years now. Their dance venues & events are top-notch. The dancers have become family. The board memebers consider the participants carefully when choosing venues. I became a memeber of the Senior Outreach this year which truly is a gift to those we visit. As one woman said with the deepest smile, "You brought us so much joy! Please come back!" I am especially excited about the newest outreach with the Altzheimers Association. Can't wait to see the positive impact that will bring.
Being able to dance and share dance with every community - young, old, and in between, – creates shared connections, helps maintain health, and keeps you moving and young/young at heart. Volunteers benefit by participating, youngsters gain knowledge of etiquette and learn social poise, and the seniors get to relive happy days. Pittsburgh Ballroom's outreach brings all these positives to our communities. I am proud to be part of this wonderful organization.
Pittsburgh Ballroom is a charity that loves to dance, a quote from a director of the club. There is something for everyone in the club: from teaching middle school students to dance to performing for senior citizens , from learning new dance steps to meeting new people that you never could have guessed you shared so much in common . There are many ways to volunteer and you will be truly appreciated.
I am a member of Pittsburgh Ballroom and volunteer with the Senior Outreach Programs. I have found this organization to provide awesome opportunities for social dancing in the greater Pittsburgh area as well. The quality of music and the variety of venues allows social dancers to mix and mingle through dance. Pittsburgh Ballroom, as a nonprofit, provides several Outreach programs. Being a proud volunteer, I enjoy representing Pittsburgh Ballroom at the Senior Outreach programs which provide dancing for senior centers, independent living, health fairs, and various senior organizations throughout Allegheny, Washington, and Butler Counties. I am also an excited volunteer for the newly initiated Alzheimer endeavor which is a great initiative for this organization. I am so excited to bring music and dance to these individuals because I am a believer it will make a positive difference in their lives. This nonprofit is a class organization and kudos to the Board for providing all the opportunities to encourage the power of dance from the youth thru the seniors. So I would encourage anyone of any age, who has an interest in dance, to become part of this wonderful group.
Of all the similar and varied dance groups in the Pittsburgh area Pittsburgh Ballroom has the best music by far. The projector and screen listing of each song played is a big plus. Kudos to the music team. I love the variety of venues where Pittsburgh Ballroom has their monthly dances. The variety of people that come are also pretty amazing. So many interesting dance styles and skill levels. Looking forward to the Harvest Ball in November. It’s Pittsburgh Ballroom’s only dinner dance of the year; dress up time! This fall Pittsburgh Ballroom has a dance program for kids in the South Hills. The future of ballroom dancing depends of interested young people.
Pittsburgh Ballroom is the only nonprofit dance organization in Pittsburgh sponsoring social ballroom dancing while spending immeasurable time and talent with its Outreach Programs. Volunteers teach Junior High students to dance; a separate group of volunteers perform exhibition dances for senior groups and a third unique group is offering a program of music and dance to Alzheimer’s individuals. “Enhancing lives through ballroom dancing.
A professional yet social ballroom dance organization. The leadership of Gretchen Brocks is superb. The outreach of the volunteers is unequaled in Pittsburgh....teaching young students to dance, performing in front of senior and community groups and soon to establish an Alzheimer's program. This "dance" group is so much more.
I became involved with Pittsburgh Ballroom because the people running the show are genuine. And take the high road.
Plus the bonus that, here, all monies raised stay local.
The Youth Outreach and Senior Outreach programs are outstanding supplements to monthly dances held at varied venues all around the area. Plus, there’s a new program for Alzheimer’s patients.
From every angle, Pittsburgh Ballroom lives up to the mission statement of “Enhancing Lives Through Ballroom Dance”.
Pittsburgh Ballroom is a non-profit whose goal is to bring music and dance to senior homes and Alzheimer's patients. The organization also provides monthly dances at various locations around the city of Pittsburgh to raise funds to enable their mission. The ballroom community surrounding Pittsburgh looks forward to the dances which allows them to socialize, utilize memory skills, sustain balance, and get exercise in a fun way. Anyone who likes to dance and who might want to take it to the next level can become a member of this outstanding group of people.
I am one of the outreach coordinators at Pittsburgh Ballroom! We have so much fun dancing at senior centers and various senior communities throughout the Pittsburgh area! It's very rewarding seeing people tap their feet to the music, which often brings back many memories. We especially love it when the some of the audience members get up and dance with us!
I have belonged to Pittsburgh Ballroom for 2 years! We dance at beautiful venues throughout the city of Pittsburgh for a nominal fee of $10. We have a senior outreach program in which volunteer dancers perform at various senior centers, communities and clubs around the city. We all know the health benefits of dance, not only the physical, but psychological and social as well. Another arm of our volunteer outreach program teaches middle school children how to dance as well as good manners and social skills!
There are several dance organization in Pittsburgh that put on regular socials, but Pittsburgh Ballroom also spearheads charitable outreaches in the wider community. For many years they've run programs in schools to introduce children to ballroom dance, and they partner with health organizations and fairs to tout the benefits of dance to senior citizens.
I participate in the Pittsburgh Ballroom outreach program. It is so rewarding to entertain and demonstrate to others our love of dancing. Senior citizens are our main focus group and the feed back from them has been great. I especially like to invite them to dance along with us and see their smiles
My Husband and I are volunteers for Pittsburgh Ballroom in two capacities.
First, with a small group of member from our club we visit nursing homes and senior citizen centers in the Pittsburgh area twice a month. Our purpose is to present different types/styles of ballroom dances..These performances are completed by our volunteer members for the enjoyment of the seniors. We then try to get the seniors involved in physical and mental exercise by dancing with us or each other.
Our ultimate goal for the seniors is for them to get involved with dance or some other physical and/or mental activity which would increase socialization and physical fitness. We enjoy sharing with these dear folks.
Our second area of volunteer involvement is with middle school age students. These opportunities have been in both public and private schools. The students are introduced to different types/styles of ballroom dances. They learn to move to the beat of the music and use patterns which each style creates. The students learn social graces of being polite and kind to other students with which they may not normally interact. They learn how to ask for a dance and accept an invitation to dance when dancing with a partner.
The students also learn the skills of leading and following in dance. Students may volunteer to research and share the history and culture of the particular dance styles/types they have learned. This information will be presented to parents, school friends and faculty at the culmination of the program. It is a great finale at the end of our dance year.
Thank you Pittsburgh Ballroom for giving us opportunities to serve our local communities. It is an enrichment to all involved.
My husband and I have been members of Pittsburgh Ballroom since 2014 and are thrilled to be part of the ballroom dance scene in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh Ballroom has incredibly fun dances at beautiful venues throughout the Greater Pittsburgh Region. Guaranteed evening of lovely social dancing and great music!
They do wonderful monthly dances and give back to the dance community.
This is a wonderful ballroom dance organization that does great work in the community.
I am a competitive ballroom dancer and I so love this organization, I am on the board of directors.
