Mission: Pine street inn partners with homeless individuals to help them move from the streets and shelter to a home and assists formerly homeless individuals in retaining housing. We provide street outreach, emergency services, supportive housing,job training and connections to employment. We tirelessly advocate for collaborative solutions to end homelessness.
Programs: Emergency servicespine street's emergency services provide 100% of boston's adult homeless street outreach and the largest single share - 45% - of its emergency shelter beds. The program's goal is to help individuals move from the street and shelter to more permanent, safe housing. The program provided outreach, shelter, mental health counseling, case management and housing placement and stabilization support more than 5,400 of the nearly 7,000 individuals that we served in fy 2017. Of those 5,400 helped by emergency services,almost 80% suffer from one or more disabling conditions including mental health disorders, substance misuse, physical or developmental disabilities. More than 830 homeless individuals were placed from the street and shelters into housing from these services.
permanent supportive housingpine street's supportive housing program provides the largest single share - 30% - of permanent housing dedicated to homeless individuals in the city. The goal of program is to ensure that individuals with a long history of homelessness have a permanent home and gain greater levels of self-sufficiency over time. The program encompasses more than 950 units of housing and the clinical support services needed to stabilize chronically homeless and disabled individuals in that housing. In fy 17, pine street housed more than 1,060 individuals, from shelter and streets, with 90% of those individuals retaining their housing for a year or more.
operations/supportive servicespine street inn's operations/supportive services program includes food services, job training, employment services and social enterprises. These programs are designed to provide opportunities to gain skills and employment. The program produced more than 2,500 meals a day for pine street inn shelter guests and other human services providers, engaging more than 100 shelter and re-entry participants in a food service training program. An additional 100 guests participated in housekeeping and maintenance training programs. Approximately 40% of participants obtained employment within the year.
