This is a responsible, well-informed, science-based organization that is very clear about its missions: to promote a plant-based diet as the most healthful and environmentally responsible choice, and to end the use of animals in inhumane experimentation in medical schools. Another reviewer refers to the organization as a front for a "bizarre vegan movement," which is quite bizarre in itself. The health, environmental, and animal welfare benefits of a vegan diet are clear and well-documented; PCRM is a much-needed corrective to the brainwashing the meat and dairy industries have subjected the American public to for decades.

Physicians Committee is one of the most professional and effective nonprofits that I know. They use science to better humans and animals lives'. They have a timeline on their website that demonstrates their influence in use of alternatives to animals in medical community.
Review from Guidestar
PCRM is highly effective in promoting good school nutrition and general government nutrition guidelines, developing effective tests and treatments for diseases, notably diabetes and cancer, and working to bring medicine into the modern era by eliminating animal testing, which is barbaric and not accurate or applicable to human health. Their vegan nutrition agenda is not in the least "hidden" as charged - it is openly promoted as the very best healthful diet according to peer-reviewed studies published in the major medical journals. This organization gets things done and has made a huge difference. Every dollar donated to this charity goes a long way towards a better world.

I have contributed to PCRM for years and have supported their mission. I have found them to be responsible and compassionate. I have met Dr. Neal Barnard several times and found him to be a highly devoted and ethical person. As for others feeling "duped" by the name, their objectives are explicitly outlined in their requests for donations and should not come as a surprise to anyone who can read.
