Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Amateur Sports Competitions, Sports

Mission: The Phoenix Bobcats Track and Field Club now serve a two-fold purpose. 1. Improving the quality of life physically, academically and socially by participating in our club and other sports. 2. Encouraging athletes to succeed both on the field and in the classroom. By participating in our program, young athletes can gain the knowledge and groundwork for proper exercise to avoid childhood obesity. Obesity in our youth has now reached epidemic proportions and studies show that 31% are currently overweight or at risk. Our goal is to try to provide training guidance to combat these potential problems. We offer training for all athletes, 5 years old (our youngest member to date) to 84 years old (one of our former member). We allow athletes from all over the valley and from every social-economic background. We offer training for at-risk children and / or under-privileged kids. It has always been my life-long ambition to have every kid that wants that opportunity or desire to participate that they can without any worries. We do have fees. Not all athletes have means to pay our fees. The request would be assist those who are not able to. It will help towards, meets fees, uniform fees, and providing water, drinks and nutrition at our practices and track and field meets held throughout the valley.

My child's experience with the Phoenix Bobcats has been extremely positive. Our daughter has be apart of this club for the past four years. Coach Jones is a one of a kind person who truly cares about all of his athletes. He puts his heart and soul into the club and takes the time to get to know each athlete. He cares about what they do on and off the track. Coach Jones makes a point to help foster outstanding character in his athletes and places importance on a family atmosphere where all children are respected and every accomplishment is celebrated. Incredibly, he also is able to maintain high expectations and championship level caliber training. This team cultivates National Champions each year in a variety of events. I would highly recommend this club to both novice and experienced athletes interested in track and field.

Our daughter joined the Bobcats when she was seven years old. She had never run before and was nervous, the coaches and teammates made her feel welcome instantly.

A week after joining the Bobcats, her three year old brother was diagnosed with cancer - our entire family felt like we could barley hang on, cancer is a hurricane and we were in the middle. Our daughter found comfort and stability in running. She could lose herself in a race and find support in her teammates and her coaches. No matter what was happening in the hurricane of cancer- track was always her constant; her lighthouse on the rocky shore.

With the support of her coaches, she made so much growth and progress as a person (and a runner). The positive influence that her coaches and teammates have had in her life has been invaluable and we are forever grateful.
