Phinney’s is an incredible organization that accomplishes impressively meaningful work for low income pet owners in Massachusetts. In my role as a client care coordinator, I have been able to interact with and help owners in difficult situations to hopefully get assistance that allows them to provide care for their beloved pets. The organization is well run with a responsive and supportive board that works closely with other volunteers to work towards Phinney’s mission.
I am a client screener with Phinney's, an incredible organization that keeps pets together with their humans during times of need. We help low income families get vetting, food, boarding so they do not have to be given up or abandoned. It is wonderful to be able to help keep furbabies with their humans.
Through Phinney's friends I have been involved in establishing a fund that helps those with lower income and disabilities take care of their older cats, funding whatever needs to be done to keep their pets healthy and happy and with them into the future. This improves the health of both pet and person. Thank you Phinney's!
I have been volunteering for 10+ for Phinney's Friends. It is a simply wonderful charity organization that cares deeply for its clients, whether 4-legged or 2-legged. Phinney's commitment to helping pet owners in need is truly inspiring.
Phinneys does amazing work for both humans and companion animals throughout Massachusetts. When we are most in need, the thought of losing a pet only serves to bring us lower. Phinneys helps to insure that doesn’t happen by keeping people and pets together. Thanks Phinneys!
Dedicated to helping pets and their owners stay together. Always finding new ways to help those in need and adapting to the changing environment.
Phinney’s has so much heart. The work has a tremendous impact - allowing people to keep their dear pets through hardship. I will always, always support this awesome org that helps both people and animals. Total win/win.
As a board member, I can truly say that Phinney’s Friends is an amazing organization! Everyone who volunteers here is there for just one reason - to extend a helping hand to pet parents in need. It is the team's dedication and love for animals that makes this organization so great.
Phinney’s mission is simple - to make sure animals and their beloved owners can stay together. They do things for pet parents and their pets that no one else can or will. It is certainly my pleasure to be a part of Phinney’s Friends.
Phinney's Friends is an organization very close to my heart. I used to be a volunteer several years ago, and while my client no longer needs Phinney's services, I have stayed in touch with them and am a supporter / donor.
Their mission is keeping low income individuals with serious health challenges together with their pets. They do this by providing financial and logistical support in many ways, e.g., supplying free pet food and veterinary care, dog walking, etc.
I find this an incredibly noble mission. Both the humans' and animals' quality of lives are significantly enriched. Often the companion animal is the human's only / main source of social and emotional support, since a combination of poor health and limited financial resources can lead to severe isolation. And the animal gets a home and love and care, instead of languishing in a shelter or worse, being put down due to shelter overcrowding.
Beyond being aware of the mission, I have seen first-hand the competence and commitment of their team, handling very difficult situations, particularly through the challenges of the pandemic.
Please consider supporting Phinney's in any way you can!
Phinneys has been phenomenal in helping people keep their pets! In recent years demand has greatly increased with COVID and inflation and Phinneys really rose to the occasion. It’s a true win-win for people and pets alike!
I have had the pleasure of being a volunteer for Phinneys Friends for 3 years and what this organization does for people with pets is absolutely great! The staff is awesome and so caring for the people and their pets that need help. I had the opportunity to be part of their mission by helping out a senior lady and her Yorkie Oscar. Oscar loved her and she loved him and I was able to help her by watching Oscar for her when she needed to be in the hospital for an extended period of time. Unfortunately there came a time where she was unable to take care of Oscar any longer and at that point Phinneys reached out and asked if I would be able to take Oscar on a full-time basis if they provided me with any necessary help I might need. I accepted and they have helped me anytime that I need them. We have had Oscar for 3 years now and he is now 17 years old. With Phinneys help we have been able to provide Oscar with whatever he may need. This organization id 5 star everyday in my book!! Thanks Phinneys Friends
Phinney's Friends is all volunteer run, so every dollar goes to people and their pets. The staff are wonderful, very capable, smart, kind and the organization is very professionally run. I have watched their work for close to 20 years; they used to be part of the Boston MSPCA, but lost their funding and volunteers have run the program ever since.
The animal human bond is so important to a persons health and well being, I will always support this organization and the people who run it.

I am an enthusiastic supporter of Phinneys Friends not only because I believe in the work they do, but also because they are an all-volunteer organization and I know that every dollar I contribute goes straight to helping a pet in need of food or medical care. The people at the helm of Phinneys Friends have the highest integrity and devote themselves tirelessly to helping people and animals who have nowhere else to turn. They need and deserve our support.
I have had the pleasure of volunteering for Phinney's Friends for many years. I have seen firsthand the impact they make on their client's and pet's lives. If it wasn't for the assistance they provide many of the clients may not be able to keep their pets and for me there is no greater outcome then keeping these families together.
Phinney’s mission has always been meaningful to me. I was a founding member of the organization for over 20 years. I have since retired and moved out of state. I still enjoy a role as advisor on client related issues.
During my time at Phinney’s I developed close bonds with many clients through our shared love for our pets. People with very different lives and backgrounds who were devoted to their pets and struggling to provide care for them.
Simple tasks that made a world of difference in the quality of the pets lives and prevented the owners from having to surrender an animal they loved. Getting a pet to the vet, paying a bill, sending food or litter when needed, walking a dog, trimming nails, fostering during a humans hospitalization are some of the many’s tasks that make a huge difference. I always felt better knowing those pets had loving homes just like my pets.
Many animals in shelters are there due to hardship in the previous owners lives. They were loved but a crisis in their home made a surrender necessary. Preserving the human/animal bond is such a positive way to make a difference. I fostered over a dozen dogs and cats over the years who all returned to their owners except for one whose owner sadly passed away. That dog was safe with me until another great home was found. He went on to give another lonely person a new best friend.
Volunteer! The organization is extremely well organized and the volunteers are such a great group of diverse animal lovers. They volunteer with so much talent and commitment. There are so many different ways to help. Find the one that works for you and make a difference!
The pictures I have included are of one of my favorite clients with his cat and one of my favorite dogs when I brought him to a vet appointment.
I have been a volunteer with this amazing organization for over 20 years .
We have helped numerous clients in various ways-everything from walking dogs, scooping kitty boxes and providing financial assistance with vet bills and food.
Many of these pet owners would not be able to keep their pets without this type of support.
Phinney's truly respects the animal /human bond and cares so much about it's clients and their furry friends.
The economic impact of the Coronavirus has made it increasingly difficult for many individuals to afford veterinary care. It is very rewarding to help injured or ill pets obtain the veterinary care they need.
This is a really great organization that helps both people and pets! It is really well run and they truly care about the work they do.
Phinney’s has helped countless pets and their owners in times of need. Whatever the hardship, be it financial, medical, temporary or even long term, Phinney’s is there to provide tangible, monetary, or hands on assistance. The volunteers are sincere, creative, and loving in their dedication to better the lives of needy pets and their owners.
Phinneys helped my dog so many times, they are simply the best. They care so much about pets and making sure the pets of elderly and disabled persons are well taken care of. They are just the most wonderful caring people!
Wonderful organization that is truly dedicated to supporting their local community of people and pets. I first learned about Phinney's Friends about a year before I joined them as a volunteer when I was looking for ways to support families in Massachusetts that were negatively impacted by the recent pandemic. I hadn't really thought about the impact that would trickle down to pets, and it was really wonderful to learn that there was a specific organization right in my own backyard that was doing everything they could to help keep people and their pets together. When the opportunity opened up a few months later to join them as a volunteer, I jumped at the chance!
Phinney's is the best non-profit I've ever had the pleasure of working for. The leadership is outstanding, and its unique mission--to help people and pets in need--stands out above the rest. This small-but-mighty organization (100% volunteer run) provides assistance--both financial and emotional--to keep people with their pets. What a great organization with a wonderful mission that actually gets things done!
