Mission: Build, engage and support our diverse community through programs, services and activities that connect neighbors and foster civic engagement.
Programs: Pna kids! Programs -- the pna operates three accredited, licensed and insured school-age enrichment programs for children in preschool through fifth grade, and 3 preschool co-operatives. The programs provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate learning opportunities at two sites in north seattle (whittier elementary school and phinney neighborhood center). In 2011, these programs served 300 children, and hundreds of families.
(1) greenwood senior center -- a facility and programs providing vital services for senior citizens and neighbors in the local community, including social activities, fitness classes, social work consultations, meals, nurse support, and other aging resources. In 2011, gsc served more than 1,527 seniors and tracked 13,016 hours of volunteer service. (2) pna hot meals program - this program provides three nutritious meals weekly at two locations to those in need as part of the "safety net" for seatles low-income and homeless population. In 2011, the program served 1,114 individuals, 21,680 meals and tracked 5,038 hours of volunteer service.
(1) pna membership and outreach both programs are designed to recruit and retain pna members for a stable financial base and organization support, as well as to connect neighbors to neighbors and build community through social activities. In 2011, the pna had 2,483 membership householdmembers. (2) pna volunteer program - this program recruits, orients, places, evaluates and recognizes the volunteers who serve the pna and the surrounding neighborhood. In 2011, 1,011 volunteers donated 27,910 hours to the pna.
other program servicespna arts, education, facilities and well home programsthe pna arts program provides the community with a rich diversity of cultural experiences and performances while supporting regional visual artists through the phinney center gallery. The education program offers affordable classes designed to promote lifelong learning and sharing skills among community members with an emphasis on arts and culture, sustainability and health and safety. The pnc hosts more than 500 hours of classes each month, as well, provided by freelance instructors. In 2011, there were 802 participants in pna classes. The pna facilities program oversees the care and maintenance of the historic allen school buildings, plans and executes capital improvements and manages the rental of hourly and leased space at the phinney neighborhood center (pnc). In 2011, the pna donated $13,000 worth of free space to more than 25 neighborhood groups and attracted over 400,000 total visits. The well home program was the first of its kind in the seattle area, offering classes in home repair and remodeling, a tool lending library, a contractor referral service and remodeling advice. In 2011, we offered 20 classes which 70 students attended and served 1,217 people through our tool library.
