Mission: The foundation helps pay the fees to participating animal shelters throughout the united states for senior citizens (age 60 and over) who adopt a companion dog or cat from a participating shelter - including pre-adoption veterinary exams and spay/neuter, if part of the adoption fee.
Results: Since going national in 2002, Pets for the Elderly has facilitated more than 105,000 shelter animal adoptions by older adults (60+), providing health, wellness, and companionship to all. New aspects of the program now allow some shelters to provide veterinary care assistance and retention assistance as well.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 5,000 shelter animals and their adopters
Geographic areas served: 54 shelters in 32 states
Programs: The foundation assists participating animal shelters by helping pay the adoption fees for senior citizens who adopt a companion animal. Presently 20 shelters in 14 states are participating in the program. Many more would like to participate, if funding is available.
