Nonprofit Overview

Mission: "Keeping Death Row Dogs on This Side of The Bridge"

Target demographics: Death Row Dogs

Geographic areas served: Ohio

Programs: PetResQ Ohio’s mission is to save the lives of as many companion animals as we possibly can. We work to prevent the unnecessary deaths of companion animals by rescuing, providing adequate nutrition and veterinary care (including, but not limited to: spaying and neutering; required immunizations; treatment of illness, unhealthy conditions or injuries); training and rehabilitation; socialization; placement into safe, adequate foster homes; and ultimately adoption into appropriate permanent homes. Particular focus shall be placed on rescuing those animals that are subject to risk of death due to confinement in facilities such as animal shelters, pounds, kennels, etc., where policies exist to end the lives of animals by lethal injection and other modes when these facilities are at maximum capacity; and also those dogs that are at such risk and/or are non-candidates to public adoption based solely on their specific breed(s).

I remember the first time I saw Mira. I found her on Petfinder, just browsing, knowing it wasn't the right time for a dog to be part of my life.

I remember feeling something a little - different - than I did for the other dogs I scrolled through on the site. I remember visiting her page daily, wondering if she was still available.

I remember writing to the people who had her, verifying that she wasn't in danger of euthanization if I didn't - if someone didn't - come forward. She wasn't. That made it better, but I still thought about Mira.
A few months later, I emailed Gregg again to check in on Mira. I was close to moving to a place I could have a dog, and Mira was still on my mind. I planned a visit, and March 2, five months after I first found Mira, I met that sweet girl for the first time. Working with Gregg and Carrie was delightful. I so rarely find others who share the same heart for animals I've always had. I was planning to wait to officially adopt Mira until I was moved, if she could wait for me. Turns out I couldn't much stand to wait, and just 4 days later I made the 6+ hour round-trip drive to officially adopt Mira. I am so thankful for PetResQ saving my girl, and so many others. Gregg and Carrie were incredibly accommodating and I'll be forever grateful for their care of animals!

I became involved with this rescue because of their willingness to go above & beyond to help death row dogs. There are no limits when it comes to saving lives, especially those with no voice. I am now a Board Member and can't say enough good things about PetResQ Ohio. It truly is a rewarding experience knowing that we are helping save lives and getting these dogs medical treatment, training & whatever else they need to go on to have happy lives with their new families!

My beautiful dog, Millie, was rescued by this amazing organization. After submitting an application for adoption, I spent some time talking with Gregg. The doors were open for my family, small children included, to come meet a puppy. Although I do not foresee adopting another dog in the near future, I continue to follow Carrie's stories, as I am amazed by the dedication she has toward saving the lives of animals. Thank you for making our lives fuller, by saving our cherished pet!
