i'm a volunteer who goes in once a week to spend time enriching the cats' experience with myself and the other cats through a variety of toys and interaction. this time is invaluable as is the time other volunteers spend. the cats in our facility have volunteers round the clock in two hour increments from 6am to 6pm. new cats are socialized according to their progress and are then released into the general population of "seasoned" cats and kittens. as we have 3 separate areas, each area allows the cats and kittens plenty of room to run and play, climb and jump, tunnel thru toys and rest in tents. they are also free to rest in their respective cages if desired. i also am a phone intake person who responds to individual calls, ranging from how to get a cat spayed or neutered to what to do if a cat or kitten has been found. although these calls can sometimes be difficult to answer, Peter Zippi has amassed a network of partners and suggestions that are very helpful to the average caller. the people who work at Peter Zippi is a family of the most caring individuals i have ever met. everyone has the same mentality - caring for the animals is the number one goal above all else. it's a place where all outside problems dissolve for who can't smile at watching kittens play all day!!
I knew about Peter Zippi as an active and engaged member of our community several years before I started volunteering there. I’d heard about the good work that they were doing to save cats & kittens, and had been looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity. The core group of people that run this organization honor the mission with everything that they do. Great place!!
I have volunteered with Peter Zippi for about 4 years. They are a small, no kill non-profit that has saved hundreds of cats over the years. The work they do with neonatal kittens and with cats who have been injured is inspiring!
They will take in kittens that need to be bottle fed every two hours, and find fosters to care for them until they are 8 - 10 weeks old and big enough to be fixed.
They have rescued cats the need broken bones pinned; hernias fixed and jaws repaired.
In addition to rescuing cats and kittens from city shelters they provide pledges to help the community spay & neuter their pets.
A wonderful, volunteer-run, animal rescue group. They are responsive to community inquiries and if they cannot help directly, they will provide ideas and resources. They always have fabulous felines available for adoption and will provide spay/neuter assistance in their community to anyone who asks.
