Mission: To rescue, protect, provide for health care, and faciliate adoptions for abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats.
Programs: To operate a no-kill shelter for homeless dogs & cats and facilitate adoptions. In 2014, 282 cats and 375 dogs were adopted from the shelter. A voucher for $60 is provided to adopters to use for spay/neuter costs as needed. Capacity at the shelter is maintained at 75 dogs and 30 cats. Shelter animals are provided any needed medical attention in addition to shots & vaccinations, de-worming, heart worm tests, and spay/neuter.

Pictures and information about animals available for adoption that are being housed in private homes are posted on the web site: www. Petsaversshreveport. Org. In 2014, 250 pets were placed in homes as a result of this website and other efforts.
assistance to low-income persons who have pets: pet food, medications and veterinary services are provided.
to promote community awareness regarding the number of abandoned pets needing homes and the importance of spay/neuter. During 2014, pet savers representatives met with student groups and civic clubs, and participated in bi-weekly television interviews. An e-mail newsletter is sent monthly to 1,500 interested persons.
to provide volunteer opportunities to the community through assisting with adoptions, providing animals with socialization through play and other intereaction, and helping to keep kennels clean. In 2013, more than 50 persons volunteered at the shelter. In addition, groups from local businesses, schools and barksdale air force base come for special volunteer days.
