I want to tell you why I love Pet Resource Center of KC. I first met CEO Michelle Rivera in November 2018 and attended the organization’s annual gala in 2019. When I heard the story of SNKC (as they were then known), I was moved to become part of their vision.People of all kinds and in all types of circumstances love animals and research shows how good they are for people. But when you’re alone, or dealing with difficulties in life, a pet can make all the difference between putting one foot in front of the other…or just stopping completely. Just down the road from PRCKC is a small community where lives are being put back together piece by piece, the tiny houses of the Veteran’s Community Project. One of the residents, Stephen, called not so long ago. He moved into one of the homes with his dog, Baby Boy, after being homeless and alone. SNKC helped with Baby Boy’s ear problem. Michelle said, “We hear people say ‘if someone can’t afford a pet they shouldn’t have it.’ We disagree. It’s a matter of resources and exactly why we’re here and why we’re helping the Veteran’s Community Project. It’s good for people to have pets but also, this makes more viable homes for animals, which helps cut down on pets going into shelters or living on the streets.” It’s this kind of community commitment and forward thinking that hooked me.

BEWARE OF PET RESOURCE CENTER!

November 2024 I took my golden doodle puppy to PRCKC for what I thought would be a standard neutering, which turned our true nightmare. When arriving for pick up at designated time, everyone’s dog was coming to their owners car, but not mine. Two nurses approached my car to hand me after care notes and said they would return with my dog shortly. He never came out. Instead, the veterinary came out and said she was worried about my dog, and that she could keep him overnight but he would be alone and he might die. She also recommended I just leave with him and monitor him myself. By the time I got inside he was on no sort of stabilization, they didn’t offer him IV’s or any sort of medication. They said he had blood in his stomach but they don’t have the technology to see how much. Because their ultra sound is on her cell phone. LOL!! After receiving absolutely no guidance from this “professional” we rushed our puppy to Mission Veterinary & Emergency Specialists , where they immediately noted our dog was in danger and severely hydrated with a moderate amount of blood in his stomach. The stabilization overnight was 3000$ which PRC refused to compensate even though it was completely necessary to save his life and they didn’t have the technology to do. We then spent acted 7000$ on corrective surgery to further save my puppies life. PET RESOURCE CENTER BLAMED ME FOR DUTY TO LITIGATE CHARGES through my lawyer who is nation renowned and well known. Pet resource center is a HORRIBLE CHEAP AND UNPROFESSIONAL facility that you SHOULD NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR PET! Take a moment and look at their Instagram page. You will see a bunch of girls throwing peace signs with your dog under anesthesia and calling it a sleepover. This place needs to be shut down. Money guzzling to the core and THEY WILL NOT HELP YOUR PET WHO IS IN NEED!

I was having a hard time finding a Veterinary service I could afford. A friend of mine told me about PRCKC. The services from who I'd talk to on the phone to getting his vaccinations to him getting neutered was great. Everyone was always moving and to give each pet quality attention. Now my kitty Lucipurr I do believe gave them a little spice and they took great care of him. Very affordable and well worth the time!!! I can't say enough about those running this wonderful organization in our community. Thank you PRCKC!!

I first met the PRCKC team in 2017, when we had been sheltering a stray orange cat we named Pumpkin for 1.5 years. We couldn't bring him into our home so we built an elaborate shelter and stayed outside with Pumpkin through every season for as long as we could. I called several shelters and tried to find a home for him. No one helped - except for PRCKC which found Pumpkin a foster home and ultimately a forever home!!! : )

I have and will continue to support PRCKC because they were there for Pumpkin AND their amazing mission. Helping poor and homeless people keep their pets is so very needed yet not work that many organizations do, which is what makes PRCKC AWESOME!

I am beyond blessed to have found such a passionate and loving community at Pet Resource Center of Kansas City. I began volunteering almost a year ago and the amount of people and pets that get to stay together because of these resources is tremendous! If you want to support a non profit that is successful and compassionate to every soul they touch this is the place! One of my first volunteer jobs was on the mobile clinic van. We were helping the community by coming to them in the event they couldn't drive or didn't have a vehicle. We chipped, vaccinated and much much more while we were on the go! This is just one of the many incredible services PRCKC has to offer our community. I'm proud to be involved in this non profit and recommend it to my friends and family.

PRCKC helps so many people in the community keep their pets in spite of difficult financial times. The staff really, really cares about keeping families together. A prime example of how much they care is that you can often find the CEO in the parking lot helping families get the care they need for their pets. You don't see that with every company, that's for sure!

I learned about the Pet Resource Center of KC at their annual gala five years ago and love their mission! Not only have I volunteered time on the advisory council and at a pet food drive, but thanks to a feral cat in our neighborhood, I also got firsthand experience from the client side. Taking the cat to my vet and spending hundreds of dollars for a neuter surgery wasn't an option (I had four indoor cats at the time) so PRCKC provided an economical way to fix this boy. Their team was great to work with and the quality of care was identical to what the cat would have received with my vet. PRCKC provides a variety of services and support in the KC community so be sure to see how they might be able to help you! Or if you're like me, how you can get involved too.

I am so proud to be associated with the Pet Resource Center of Kansas City. Their work in the community plays a special role in animals lives and the families who love them. In addition to affordable spay and neuter services and pet vaccinations there is an outreach program where staff and volunteers truly make a difference for families and the pets they love. PRCKC is a special place with hard working and caring staff and volunteers who do their best every day in making a positive difference for the pets and families they serve.

I have had multiple opportunities to volunteer in the community for Pet Resource Center, both at the main office and
at events since July 2021. Since I love both cats and dogs (& their human parents), I have had so much fun, helping others and telling about the resources that PRCKC offers.

PRCKC is a great place to volunteer! The work is rewarding, and you get to interact with so many members of the community (and their pets, too!) Pets are a part of the family, and no one should have to give up their family member due to lack of income or resources. PRCKC helps families stay together.

I've been volunteering with PRCKC for a little over a couple of months now and the care and the organization that goes into the care these animals receive is beyond comparison! They're amazing!

I started to volunteer during Covid after I was laid off. I can't even begin to say how much I enjoyed being able to have such a wonderful place to go and feel like I was making a difference. The staff there is amazingly supportive and friendly, and there is such a variety of needs, you can really find something that suits you. Some of the activities are more solitary, but others let you have an amazing level of interaction with customers and staff. Again, you can really choose what you're comfortable with! Personally, I loved going out with the Vet and Tech to do the mobile visits. I especially enjoy it when someone stops me (after a volunteer shift) when they see my PRKC shirt. They tell me how much everyone there helped them and their animals!

Not only are we clients of PRCKC, we are also volunteers for this great organization. We first started taking our pups to the center when we just had 2 and still do 4 years later now that we have 4. After realizing that they were such a fantastic group we decided since we were so blessed with 4 prefect pups and that they had such a great life, we needed to give back and started volunteering about a year ago.. We love everyone at the center and the folks we have met are so dedicated.. You can tell everyone loves what they do.. Everyone deserves more than 5 stars...

I first became aware of Pet Resource Center when volunteered to do TNR. I was totally impressed with their goals: low cost spay and neuter, affordable immunizations, providing other free or low cost services to pet owners in need (whose pets might otherwise end up in shelters). At the volunteer training, they instilled the motto they apply as they go out into the neighborhoods: "Help where you can; don't judge." I love this organization....

Pet Resource Center helps everyone who loves their pets keep them healthy. They offer vaccines, heartworm test, discounted flea and year round heartworm medications. They also allow us to get our pets spayed/neutered at the lowest cost possible. I take both of my dogs there and highly recommend them!
