The Pet Cottage are wonderful people. It has been awesome to see them grow and expand and help out so many animals and families in need. I highly recommend donating/volunteering and helping this great non profit.
I’ve known Wendy Derhak for many years and learned about her mission early on. She has a passion for helping animals when they’ve lost their owners. I’ve fostered 3 animals so far who have lost their owners.
The Pet Cottage makes sure the pets have everything they need with their fosters. It’s so rewarding knowing these animals have a forever home where they can live out their lives.
The Pet Cottage makes the connection between the Pet and the foster. Wendy’s dedication is never ending.
My name is Shari and I have been a volunteer at The Pet Cottage for three years. I truly believe in Wendy's mission. She is a guardian angel to both the animals that she saves and to their humans. She works endlessly to make sure that the dogs and cats that she fosters find the most suitable, safe new homes. This is wonderful because their human who can no longer take care of their animal knows that they will not have to worry about their pet. This is the peace of mind they will have with Wendy. My dog passed away last year and after a period of mourning I knew that I wanted another dog. I also knew that I wanted to get one through The Pet Cottage. I am now a proud mom to a beautiful senior dog named Henry.
I'm divorced, just bought a new home, have my children and grandchildren nearby, but I still felt like I was missing something. That something was a pet - to keep me company and for protection as I live by myself. A friend at work found The Pet Cottage on line and showed me a picture of a schnauzer. I've had schnauzers before, and I knew that this was what I was waiting for. Sophie came into my life. The Pet Cottage was amazing, asking me all kinds of questions and they visit the home and meet the person before ever letting one of their babies go - they are very thorough and wonderful to work with. Sophie is 14 years old, I've had her for about six months, absolutely love her - we're definitely a team! I can't thank The Pet Cottage enough for the awesome work that they do, putting their hearts and souls into taking in older animals so that they can have a good life with whatever time they have left. It's a wonderful, inspiring concept and Wendy and staff are by far the best!!
I love the mission of The Pet Cottage, to rehome pets due to deceased, disabled or deployed owners. It's what made me want to offer my photographic skills to help out. As I photographed many of the dogs I could see how well cared and loved they all are. I would have no reservation recommending The Pet Cottage as a place to help out with pets once the owners are no longer capable of taking care of them.
Pet Cottage has an incredible mission and one that is increasingly important as the population ages. Wendy is extremely knowledgeable and has an enormous heart for seniors both people and animal varieties. I started volunteering in the summer and have recently increased my involvement and hours to support this awesome cause. For me personally I love animals and working with seniors so it is a perfect blend of both.
Wendy Derhak from The Pet Cottage has an amazing heart! She does all she can to help people who are worried about what will happen to their pets in cases of death, deployment, or a disability. I have recently started volunteering and have seen first hand all the love! Great non profit to get involved with!
You learn the most and gain the most by being involved. The Pet Cottage is an absolutely wonderful way to strengthen your soul, your faith in the human family. The Pet Cottage demonstrates how together we can make such a fantastic difference. Supporting each other, and making sure we have someone to love is of paramount importance. It doesn't matter if he/she walks on two feet or four! Everyone wants to be held and told, "I love you!"
Taking care of our senior people and animal population really is covering so many bases. I have learned so many things! Yappy Hours are wonderful! Senior Pets are just as wonderful if not more wonderful than peeing puppies. Puppy & Cat conversations work very well, just as well as 'the grandchildren'! The Pet Cottage, Inc is doing a wonderful job for a very special segment of our population. I believe the Pet Cottage is GREAT! We adopted Boots, this gorgeous feline from The Pet Cottage!
I have been with the Pet Cottage for over 3 years as a volunteer “The Furry Godmother” as I am affectionately called. This organization is absolutely wonderful with the pets and they always find loving compassionate homes for the animals. The animals are never forgotten. When they join the Pet Cottage they will be loved forever. I also help walk the dogs which I truly enjoy.!Wendy the founder is an incredible person who loves what she does and put her whole self into the animals and their fosters.
I have known Wendy and watched the Pet Cottage grow into an amazing organization fulfilling a much-needed niche in the care of our beloved pets. Her mission and great and the love and care she gives to not only every animal but also to the person she is helping is incredible.
Wendy and Pet Cottage have a wonderful mission-helping place pets for deployment, disability or death and helping wonderful pets who are displaced through no circumstances of their own. They helped my mother find a new cat after her beloved kitty died. And when my mother passed away, they rehomed her new cat. They keep up with the animals for life, and I want more people to know how special they are and how much they care about their four legged charges. We should all support this wonderful mission.
I have witnessed Wendy and The Pet Cottage take great care of pets that have lost their loved ones to death, deployment and disability. The pets couldn’t be in better care than here.
When a dog or cat’s owner can no longer care for them due to death, disability, or deployment, the Pet Cottage takes wonderful care of them until they can find them another loving home. I know of a few people who were refusing to go into hospice care because they didn’t want to leave their pet-until Wendy from The Pet Cottage came along and they saw how caring and wonderful she was with their pet. At the darkest time of their lives, Wendy is a ray of sunshine and hope!
