Mission: Persevere is committed to disrupting the destructive cycle of intergenerational poverty and incarceration by empowering our students to achieve social and economic mobility through technology education, life skills development, employment, and wraparound services.
Results: Since we launched 4 years ago we have grown to 8 states and serve both marginalized and BIPOC populations at risk of incarceration, and those who have been justice-involved. Did you know that 600,000 people are released from prison each year? And 70% of them will return.
Persevere is breaking the cycle. The recidivism rate for our participants is 2%. Help us strengthen the workforce, create safer communities and reunite families all while breaking generational cycles.
Target demographics: break the cycle of generational poverty and incarceration
Direct beneficiaries per year: roughly 500 individuals
Geographic areas served: 9 states across the country
Programs: through technology education, career readiness, life schools and holistic wrap around services.
I was recently released from prison in Arizona at the beginning of the year. While I was incarcerated I took part in the Persevere coding program. Although I was not able to graduate due to an early release, Persevere stuck by my side and assisted me in any way I needed. Even when I didn't want there help or support they consistently persisted to make sure I was on the right track and had everything I needed. I am so thankful for Persevere's care and support. They have a really amazing staff including Ms. Shayla Scott! I now own my own my own business in sustainability , graduating from college with a bachelor's from Ashland University and I'm in a healthy loving relationship for the first time ever. If your looking for a program that will change your life THIS IS IT!!!!
A friend told me about Persevere and I am so happy she did because the work they do and the people leading it are making a difference in people's lives. I have had the honor to meet participants of their program and the work that Persevere is doing was immediately evident in building skills and character for a better future for communities and not just individuals. This is an incredible organization that is worth supporting.
