public education activities: educated the public about retirement income issues through the media, e-newsletters, and the center's website. Published and disseminated plain language fact sheets on a wide range of topics related to pensions and retirement savings plans.

The Pension Rights Center counsels individuals and groups of workers on pension-related issues while also promoting secure defined benefit pensions in the policy arena. PRC was a convener of the Retirement USA initiative for "universal, secure and adequate" pensions and has played a lead role in other coalitions and initiatives, including the Retirement Security for All initiative to promote innovative state-level reforms, and the Conversation on Coverage, which focused on ways to expand retirement coverage to the roughly half of American workers who have no employer-based retirement benefits. PRC's work with individuals informs its public policy activities and vice versa. PRC's small but very effective 10-person staff, headed by director Karen Ferguson and policy director Karen Friedman, are the go-to team for pension- and retirement-related issues large and small, assisted by Drexel law professor and pension expert Norman Stein. PRC makes very good use of limited funds in their efforts to promote retirement security.
