When my kids were in foster care even though they were not with penny Lane, Penny Lane allowed us to use their facilities for visits which was closer to my home and less stressful than a McDonald's and they were always welcoming and respectful. That being said after I recommended my sister be place their in the group home she had alot of trouble there due to the fact that she was Caucasian and at that time there was mostly African American.unfortunately she didn't feel safe or comfortable there and left .I wish the group home was more culturally diverse and sensitive.while there might be other races, that get along together, often it's because they bend to the dominant bullets and become lapdogs and bully's to earn respect creating a hostile group home environment.while the north hills center where counseling and visits take place we're great, the group needs alot of work and I hope they become a more safe environment for all races .And they need to speak to the group home girl about culturally appropriation racism etc because races may be different and the reasons they are there but the goal is same.to grow in a manner which is conducive to become a productive member of society,to break the cycle and to hopefully use their life experience to give back in a manner that can help people positively.
