I am currently volunteering with PAIRWN. They are a great local nonprofit that helps immigrants and refugees connect with those like them in fellowship and leadership. Women are the ones to navigate the system when they come to the U.S., so focusing on empowering women to integrate into the community and become educated about health, resources, American values and the language, uplifts their lives. They are no longer an island. PAIRWN.org is the bridge that unites immigrant communities while building cultural competence for all that come to our events, such as The Diversity Lunch-in that is held every December at the Harrisburg State Museum that celebrate culture though arts and food.
