Causes: Health, Health Support
Mission: Founded in the mid-1980s and incorporated as a 501c3 in 1993, PHLP protects and advances the health rights of low-income and underserved individuals. Our talented staff are passionate about eliminating barriers to health care that stand in the way of those most in need. We seek to advance policies that maximize health coverage and access to care, hold insurers and providers accountable to consumers, and achieve better outcomes and reduce health disparities. PHLP advances its mission through individual representation, systemic advocacy, education, training, and collaboration.
Target demographics: low income families, people with disabilities, and seniors
Geographic areas served: Pennsylvania
Programs: The Pennsylvania Health Law Project (PHLP) is the first and only statewide legal services organization devoted to protecting and advancing health care rights. Each year, we help thousands of Pennsylvanians obtain health services such as life sustaining medications, nursing, home health aides, mental health services, and durable medical equipment. We focus on the most vulnerable; people who have nowhere else to turn, and who, without our services would be significantly harmed.
