The award-winning Environmental Education program works in local K-12 schools, providing classroom support and teacher training. Beachcombers' Rest Nature Center at Pemaquid Beach opened in 2003, offering programs and interactive displays to foster stewardship of the beach and the local environment. The PWA Paddlers offer weekly canoe and kayak trips throughout the Midcoast region, May through October. PWA also maintains a Butterfly Garden at Pemaquid Beach Park, organizes annual public gatherings for each major pond in the watershed, and spearheads the LakeSmart Program for the major ponds.
