Nonprofit Overview

Mission: POST is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit enhancing the social, emotional, and financial wellness for local families with cancer and their families.

Results: We incorporated in 2012 and now act as our own entity. As such, we need assistance telling the world about the wonderful work that we do! In doing so, we can raise money to help more children and their families and enhance our services.

Programs: The need for POST services arose from the unmet needs of families ̶ living in a six county area ̶ dealing with the devastation of a child diagnosed with cancer. These services include but are not limited to: • Comprehensive Case Management and Advocacy • Counseling for Individuals and Families • Sibling Intervention • Discharge Planning • Medical Play • Financial Crisis Stabilization • Referral to Local and National Resources • Support Groups • Clinic, Hospital, Home and School Visits • School Re-entry and Educational Planning • Bereavement Support

The people at the POST team are INCREDIBLE!! When my son was diagnosed with leukemia as an infant, I had no where else to turn. They made me feel like I could do it. I never even thought of my child getting cancer and it was shocking to get that news. Watching my baby get chemo was almost more than I could bear. I couldn't have done it alone, and I didn't have to because Barbara, Terrie, Carmengloria, and Hilary were there for me. POST is my second home. Even though my son is finished with his four years of treatment, he still wants to go see the "girls" at POST. He thinks they're family.

It's a great feeling knowing every year when I volunteer for the POST Team, our cummlative efforts get compounded throughout our community.
The dedication and loyalty is so easy to see by working with Barbara Abernaty and Terri and Carmen Gloria and Coach Ken. Together we have always exceeded our grandsons goals met our humble expectations but most impotantly elevating the familles bringing hope to them and their children struggling every hour with cancer.
I invite you to reach out with us to positively impact every young child's life, bringing them hope, understanding and love from this tremendous team called POST !

When my 11 year old daughter was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, I was stunned. I didn't know what to do or who to turn to. Thank God for the POST team who came to my rescue, helping us learn to manage the complicated chemo schedule and know how to tell our 6 year old son his sister has cancer. The therapist went to my daughter's school, explained to her peers what was happening and how they could be supportive. They gave us counseling so we didn't lose our minds and they became likefamily. What else can I say? They ARE our family. They are the BEST!

I have been with the Pediatric Oncology Support Team (POST) for 19 years and I can't think of another organization that treats young cancer heroes with such compassion and competence. I am proud of the near 2,000 families we have help with emotional and financial support. We wrap our arms around families, both literally and figuratively, and make sure they don't want their child's cancer journey alone.

Everyone at POST is fantastic! When our daughter was first diagnosed with leukemia we were in complete shock, had no idea what to do for the non-treatment side of this journey like paying for medical expenses not covered by our insurance and what to do about school. Fortunately, Carmengloria, Hilary and Terrie helped us navigate the way and put us in touch with other helpful people. I can't say enough good things about the amazing people at POST.

Our son was diagnosed with leukemia in June 2009. When we were told the news, two members from POST were in the room with us. They were there to help us take on this horrible news, hold us up through our grief, and guide us through all the medical procedures our son would endure. Since then, the staff of POST has become our second family. Because of their excellent care, the last three and a half years were made a little easier.
