I have been volunteering at PAH for 6 years. I enjoy spending time with the horses. It gives me the opportunity to learn from them and feel a sense of calm. They help remind me to slow down and breath. To take one step at a time. After I am done volunteering, I leave feeling refreshed, centers and ready to finish out the week with a clear mind and strong sense of purpose. I love this place so much so that I now sponsor one of the horses.

Best place to find your why- find your peace and make a difference. The farm and animals bring genuine purpose to each day you volunteer there. It's hard work but rewarding in the best sense. Consider stepping up and joining the efforts, or send some financial love, every bit helps.

About 5 years ago, my husband and I were talking about retiring. We live on a large property with a barn. The kids had moved out, the house was empty, the barn was empty.

We talked about our next chapter in life. We wanted to have purpose each and every day, something to get us up and out and moving.

Retirement was not going to catch us like so many others who end up with sedentary lifestyles because of it!

Searching the internet for rescues of all kinds of large farm animals we came across Peaceful Acres Horses. We read of their mission and vision and knew that we wanted to be part of everything they stood for!

We were able to meet with Nanci and were matched with our 4 beloved minis.

It’s been an amazing few years with our minis and the love and support we receive from PAH is second to none!

Nanci and her team truly love the animals in their care!

Please look to PAH if your interested in giving an equine a wonderful forever home. Please look to PAH for some wonderful programs that Nanci and her team also offer on the farm. Lastly, if you want to give back, donate or volunteer to help with the horses!

Every bit of what we all can do together can help sustain and ensure the animals and people of PAH have stability for years to come!

We love our PAH family and are happy we chose them for our horses!

This is such a wonderful place. Nanci pours her heart and soul into the sanctuary, and the horses are lucky to have her and a safe place to live out their lives.

I am pleased to share my experiences with Peaceful Acres Horses in Pattersonville, NY. I have interacted with this non-profit for more than ten years and they continue to deliver on their mission. Nanci has saved over 200 slaughter bound equines and provided them with a sanctuary where they can get a second chance at life. These animals seem to sense that they are in a safe place, and the environment at PAH restores their confidence and affection towards humans. These four-legged ambassadors inspire many people both young and old who are in search of a purpose in their lives. Perhaps even more noteworthy is the fact that over 100 equines have found forever homes thanks to the efforts of the staff at PAH.
These folks include recovering cancer patients, emotionally challenged youth, veterans dealing with the stress of their former experiences and boys and girls of all ages who seem to connect with these equines through a common, unspoken emotional bond.
This facility is a 24-hour 7 day a week commitment, staffed by loyal volunteers, each playing a different role from feeding, exercising, mending fences, grooming, mucking stalls, tending to their veterinary needs and perhaps most importantly raising the funds required to be sure that every horse, donkey, mini horse receives the health care they deserve.
A large facility demands a robust operating budget to be sure that there is hay, grain and meds enough for close to 100 animals. The winter months can be harsh, and the hay consumption significant. The management does not rely upon a single revenue stream, and they are reaching out to their followers EVERY day with updates on the individuals in their care.
PAH has become an increasingly popular destination for the Harvest Host program, providing overnight RV parking for families across the country passing through upstate New York. It becomes the highlight of these travelers’ journey to spend a quiet day nestled among the 150 acre ranch, waking up to the beautiful sight of horses running across open fields while enjoying the panoramic views of the Mohawk Valley.
This is an organization that has proven to be responsible, and they have earned my respect and support by witnessing their accomplishments over the years. If you appreciate animals in need and the people who unselfishly provide that care, please consider including Peaceful Acres Horses among your charitable non-profits. Peaceful Acres Horses merits your support.

Peaceful Acres Horses is an amazing place. It is a sanctuary for horses, donkeys, and minis who were in neglectful situations or stuck in the slaughter pipeline. PAH is a place of restoration for them and offers a life of care, community and love. The sanctuary is also a great benefit to the surrounding community because it is a place of healing and hope for people too. Nanci offers equine-led leadership and learning programs for youth, families and individuals as well as business teams and leaders. These programs partner the horses with people in a very unique and powerful experiential learning process. Horses are uniquely able to help people move past roadblocks, trauma and grief and it is a magical place to be.

I started at peacedul acres without any knowledge of rescue animals & then cruelty & neglect they were exposed to until they were rescued by the greatest non profit organization I have come to know. The blood, sweat, & tears along with unceasing dedication in my eyes makes it the best. The owner has but her heart & souls into rehabilitation these rescues & has a team of people with the same mindset. She has spent so much time developing programs for equine therapy for children & adults. I can attest to how healing the programs are. Please support this organization in any way you can. Even a small donation will go a long way.

It's hard to put into words the uniqueness and value of Peaceful Acres Horses. The organization means so much to so many in a large area around Upstate New York. Almost 100 horses touch the lives of thousands of people. Some come to learn about the gentle, majestic creatures, some come to heal with them, some come just to be with them in nature. Children in crisis, cancer, survivors, wounded veterans, corporate retreats, and many more. Groups within the community share in the experiences and the growth that takes place at Peaceful Acres. Nanci does an excellent job managing a talented staff of workers and volunteers that truly change lives. People tell me they are never the same when they understand the plight of horses in this country, the incredible nature of them and the healing power they bring to each other and to humans. I have been an integral part of Peaceful Acres since 2008 and it has clearly changed my life. I now advocate for horses 20 hours a week (as a volunteer), because of the experiences I have had there. I now advocate for their safety and protection, as well as for their role the community as they serve people as gentle examples of how we can live together… horses and humans. It's an amazing place. I (John) can be reached at (518) 594-1594 if you would like to hear more.

PAH is an awesome place to volunteer and work at. IF you like/love animals, esp. horses, mini's, ponies, mules, and esp. donkeys, this is the place to be at. You will get much more than you give from all the loving animals that are here. Nanci and crew saved a lot of these animals from certain death in kill pens and from abusive situations. They each have a personal story and each have much love to give. You will feel good about yourself and about your life by volunteering and just by being here at this beautiful rescue sanctuary ranch.
These rescued residents are living their best life, free of stress, neglect, fear. Only love, plenty of food, water, and shelter along with great friends and people who they can trust.

Do consider being a volunteer and donor to this exceptional organization.

Peaceful Acres Horses equine rescue sanctuary fills a unique and much needed purpose in NY (and the world). I wish that there weren’t so many animals in need of rescue, but the sad truth is that the need is huge. The director, staff, volunteers and donors of PAH are very hardworking, dedicated and incredibly compassionate people. If you are looking to get involved with a rewarding and valuable non-profit, PAH is a great choice!

Volunteering at this horse rescue is the most enjoyable time. The people and horses are friendly, and appreciative of the 3-4 horses I am able to help. My friend and I have really enjoyed volunteering.

When I started volunteering at Peaceful Acres several years ago, I was so impressed with the accomplishments of Nanci and her team of caregivers. They work hard to find the resources to rescue and care for horses, minis, donkeys, and mules, giving them a second chance after being abandoned, often in the slaughter pipeline. Nanci and her caregivers offer love, compassion, and a forever home for America's forgotten equines. In addition, the rehabilitation work she has done to rehome equines eligible for adoption placement is nothing short of a miracle. Nanci's work is inspiring, and it's uplifting to know that such a beautiful piece of land in upstate New York is being utilized for this worthy endeavor.

I am so proud to be associated as a volunteer caregiver with this rescue sanctuary for horses, donkeys and mules. In addition to providing training and support for her valued volunteers, Executive Director Nanci Beyerl has devoted her life, heart, intelligence, education and resources toward providing a permanent, safe and healthy home for these majestic animals to live out their natural life span. These otherwise slaughter-bound equines would have had no chance of surviving because of thoughtless overbreeding, our society’s “throw-away” mentality and a general failure to plan for the animals’ retirement. Nanci uses her business acumen, her contacts in the rescue community and her partnership with outstanding veterinarians and equine specialists to assure stability and health for her equine residents. With her background in social work, she has developed several programs that give people of all ages and health needs a chance to interact with her therapy animals in a beautiful environment. It is a true honor to be part of this humane work in progress. I invite you to join this worthwhile organization.
