Programs: Our community organizing grants are pdfs open door to any and all who wish to apply. Through these programs we are able to make small grants to community organizations working on issues of social justice, peace, human health and welfare in areas of the country where there are few grant making resources such as iowa, south dakota, louisiana or the southwest. Community advised, designated grants and donor advised funds bring donors, grass roots organizers and funders together for grantmaking and community building, strengthening relationships across sectors of the social justice movements. Pdf regards fiscal sponsorships as a natural extension of our mission and program, and we work with almost 50 fiscally sponsored groups. With offices in california and massachusetts, we are able to offer fiscal sponsorship to groups across the u. S. And those based in the u. S. And working internationally. A total of 282 grants were made.
built from more than 30 years of experience partnering with grassroots community groups, pdfs capacity-building program was developed in direct response to the articulated needs and aspirations of our community partners. With their input and recommendations, pdf has developed an integrated strategy to build the capacity of grassroots organizations through a combination of multi-year grants, training, organizational development assistance, strategic convening and support for collaboration among groups working on common issues. Pdfs capacity building program, the sustainability project, offers three curriculum modules to help grantees improve their fund raising capacity, board development and financial management through one on one trainings involving staff, board and key voulunteers. Our criminal justice intitiative works to build a national movement of formerly incarcerated people, their families and allies. A total of 41 grants and 10 in-kind grants were made.
the organizations arctic community advised fund and the circumpolar conservation union are components of an arctic-focused climate change initiative which the organization administers and sponsors, centered around ccus observer status at the arctic council. We participate in the arctic council through meetings and through advocacy and support for the indigenous peoples of the arctic, known as permanent participants to the arctic council. We bring science and advocacy to the negotiations regarding resources, indigenous communities and climate change concerns through grants, travel support and leadership development. A total of 7 grants were made.
