Mission: What if you did a good deed for three people - and each of them paid it forward by doing a good deed for three more people, and so on, until the world was a different place? In Catherine Ryan Hyde's novel, Pay It Forward, twelve-year-old Trevor, in response to an extra credit assignment for his social studies class, imagines and idea for world change, and puts it into action.Students will have the opportunity to identify what they consider to be the challenges of their communities. They might tackle such problems as homelessness, pollution, youth violence, literacy issues, and the loneliness experienced by long-term hospital and nursing home patients. The Pay It Forward Foundation will provide seed money for such worthwhile projects.
