2017 We got a Cat from one of your rescue.crews at the Pet Co In Madison Heights. He is doing Great! Now we have Donated $100.00 in Memory of an Animal Lover who has brought in a lot of rescue Kitties and her name is Pamela Hoffman she just passed away! Our interaction with getting our Phoenix Alan the Cat went well back than. He is a good healthy cat!
My name is Mandi and I adopted a 10 month old cat named Presley at the start of the year.
I can only say positive things about Paws for Life Rescue. Starting with the foster, she was amazing with providing me information regarding Presley. My situation in particular with Presley was different. Presley was diagnosed with FIP and was extremely sick. Her foster had her for almost one year and nursed her back to health. I will forever be thankful for her nursing Presley back to health because she is filled with so much love and personality. She’s more than just our family’s cat, she’s apart of our family.
With Presley’s illness, we had many questions and concerns with adopting her but our foster was persistent on being 100% honest and gave us any and all information we requested. Our foster wanted us to be comfortable with our decision. She made sure to explain that if we changed our mind or it wasn’t working with our family, that we could reach out to her for help, or give her back to find a better fit for her.
With our foster, she still continues to stay in contact with us and Presley. She loves getting updates and photos of Presley. It’s nice to know that she has so much love for our cat.
When starting the adoption paperwork with Paws for Life I appreciated the application process. The questions they ask you are great and it puts into perspective that your taking on a responsibility and not just a furry friend. I believe that they have a very thorough adoption process and I appreciate that they take the time to make sure the family is the right fit for the animals.
Review from Guidestar
He is one of the best, most cuddly and loyal dogs I have ever adopted. Thank you to the volunteers who helped match us to right dog for our family! We cannot imagine our life without him! We highly recommend Paws for Life!
The volunteer decided not to mention that the kitten has IBD and tried to persuade me to adopt just the IBD kitten even though she had a brother. I told her I would not seperate the siblings and she insisted I just adopt the sick kitty. Terrible business, very diasappointed and super shady. Dont adopt from here.
Paws for Life is a wonderful organization where I found a buddy for myself and my kitten Shadow. Creek my new kitten is a wonderful addition to the household and Paws made sure that everything was handled before the adoption went thru. From vaccinations to getting him fixed, there was never an issue. Kayla, the representative from Paws kept in touch throughout the process and we shared pics of Creek as he's grown up. Thank you Kayla and Paws!
The compassion that PFL has for cats and dogs is beyond description. The staff does everything in their power to save as many cats and dogs as possible. I'm so grateful to them because without them, I would have never found my boys.
PFL is an incredibly well-run rescue. There aren't paid employees, everyone I've been in contact with works around the clock to care for these animals. The mission is delivered every day and the values are never compromised. As a foster, I feel fully supported and I am proud to be a part of this team.
We adopted both of our cats from Paws for Life and it was the best decision we've made. We adopted them at different times, yet they became immediate best friends. And both fell in love with our dogs. Paws for Life was so helpful with introductions and reassuring us that we were doing everything correctly. We are very happy with our furry family members. Thank you so much!
Thank you for rescuing my sweet, silly boy. He is bursting with personality and he loves everyone he meets, dogs and cats. He fits in everywhere we go and makes friends along the way. Thank you for making adoption a fun, easy process for us.
When our dog of twelve plus years passed away we decided on a rescue dog to help out a poor baby who had for one reason or another lost their family. We wanted a younger dog (for longevity purposes) and began looking up non-profit rescue organizations. We looked at a couple that interested us then found a dog to ask about. The call did not go as planned at all. I expected to say I want to see this dog, go see it, say “I want” and take the dog home. “Paws for Life Rescue”, was different. A very personable lady got on the phone and asked us a series of questions like what size the yard was, fenced or not, have we had dogs before, if yes, what happened to them. Then who would be the primary care giver. This happened to be my elderly mother the dog would live with and I’d go daily to walk the dog. In a few minutes time, I had to agree an older dog would be a better fit for my mother. Then I set up an appointment to go see a few dogs. One girl I was asked to look at had been in the shelter for many months. I walked in and many dogs were barking and jumping to get my attention. I went to where “Jane” was and she came to the door and sat down. I opened the door expecting her to bolt out. She didn’t even stand up until I placed a leash on her. She was approximately 8 years old at that time. Long story short, she kept my mom company until my mother passed away. Then she came home with me and became our baby until she passed away. We had five wonderful years with her. When we were ready to have another dog in the house “Paws For Life” was my first call. This time we were ready for a senior dog. We saw Thor, a very handsome boy who looked like he was smiling. We were told he wasn’t doing well in the shelter and finding a foster home was hard. “Paws For Life” helped us every step of the way, from veterinary check up, shots, to helping prepare me for what I needed to bring him home to Windsor, Ontario. We are so grateful for Thor coming to live with us. He is an older dog at 8 years old. But plays like a puppy, and he definitely is full of personality, still smiling all the time. If there is ever a pet need in the future “Paws For Life” will be the first call I make. There are many more lonely dogs and cats that need people to love them and be there for them to love. Do what you can to help by volunteering time, your home to foster, or like us because of distance, we make a monthly donation to assist the nonprofit feed, get toys and treats or medical care for the animals in their care waiting for someone to adopt them.
This is the most unprofessional group of people. They will scam you and take your money. Avoid them and go to another rescue.
If I could give more stars to this rescue, I would. Vicki was so responsive and helpful through the entire adoption process and is still helpful with questions I have about my babies. I love that Kayla checked in on them their first few weeks in a new environment to make sure they were happy and safe. You can tell the people of this rescue care about the animals and want to make sure they go to a loving home. I adopted two kitties, I was able to come and meet the kitties and learn about them before taking them home. Once they were home, Vicki was available to me to answer all my questions. I can’t thank this rescue enough for my new additions to my crazy family! I refer my friends and clients to paws for life all the time now
We adopted our first cat, Gigi, from Paws for Life over 5 years ago and had such a great experience we adopted our second kitten, Ernie from them in 2022! Their team is incredibly helpful, accommodating, and truly cares for the pet and pet owners needs from start to finish.
I have been a foster for Paws For Life since May of 2022 and it has been a very rewarding experience for me. I had the privilege of fostering Harley Davidson first and she loved attention but was scared also. I gained her trust and she found her forever home. She actually won my step sons heart and I get to visit her anytime I want too! Next, I fostered the sweet and shy Mooshy. This girl won my heart over with how timid she was. She clearly had never lived inside before. This momma came to me after she was done feeding her kittens. She grew to love being petted and she always made biscuits. I highly recommend fostering for Paws for life!!!
Oh I was searching for a cute little orange tabby and found the love of my life with this rescue.
Paws for Life was amazing during the entire adoption process.
This was my first time adopting, and I truly could not have had a more positive experience. Everybody was so unbelievably friendly, helpful, and amazing at communication. As a first time pet owner, I had/have so many questions and they are always happy to help. I am 110% happy and comfortable in my decision to adopt through this organization, and will recommend to anybody and everybody! Amazing people who truly care about the animals. It is so re-assuring to hear that they will be there to help me along the way, even after the adoption process is over. I now have two ADORABLE and loving kitties, along with the comfort of knowing I can get help and advice when needed! Thank you Alex and Kayla! :)
We adopted a pit terrier mixed. I was told cat friendly and dog friendly. I took in this sweet girl was told 1-2 years old. Paper I received weeks later says 3-5 years old. Now I have been attached to her who does not get along with my parents dogs who are very dog friendly. I got Raven in November. Sick the whole month of December. Either we get some training to see if will work or I recommend her going to home and label her as NOT dog friendly. I really hope to get some answers or some help with training. I really hate being lied too. These animals have feelings too!!!!
We were looking for a new furry companion to add to our family. We already have one tabby but wanted him to have a playmate. Our family wanted to support some local pet shelters around the Metro-Detroit area so we did shop around. There were several locations that had animals for adoption but none that stood out like PFL. The PFL adoption procedure was very detailed and organized. Their website had updated information, clear pictures, and explained the adoption process quite well. Although they asked more specific questions on their adoption papers than other places, we really appreciated that because this really challenged us as a family to really think about why we wanted to welcome another furry family member. When we submitted the paperwork, we were able to get in touch with one of the foster parents (K). K was very friendly, informative, and flexible with her schedule. She had 2 available kittens that were up for adoption. We were able to coordinate a time to visit the kittens. Since this was still during covid times, K was very respectful of us visiting, we all had masks and her home was very well organized, with candles lit to set up a relaxing ambiance. That definitely was quite the welcome! We were able to ask questions about the kittens, play with them, and just take our time. Luckily, we were able to sign the papers, write out a check, and adopt our new furry family member. K was very supportive of us and was really thoughtful to share helpful tips with getting our new kitten adjusted to our home, our other tabby, and just new everything in general. We were able to text/call K with any questions and K was even able to get in touch with one of the PFL vets to check on something with our new kitten. Overall, this has been a great and memorable experience and we are so thankful for PFL for bringing this bundle of joy into our lives!

I have adopted my sweet Leo from PFL. Their knowledgeable volunteers and their compassion for what's best for the animals in their care is absolutely extraordinary. Highly recommend!
Never met a more caring and compassionate rescue. I follow them a lot on Facebook and have rescued a dog from them as well in 2016. They are fully funded by donations and I’ve seen how hard the volunteers work for the animals. Most respectable rescue in the state
I have volunteered with several groups, including a very large, very well known shelter here in Michigan. I can honestly say, no one takes better care of the animals AND the volunteers. Any animal taken in is given whatever vetting it needs, and immediately. All information on each animal is meticulously recorded, emergency vet needs are always taken care of. Anyone who thinks otherwise is not well informed about animal rescue.

I've been involved in animal care since 1991, first at a big shelter but also several smaller non profit groups. Paws for Life commits to each and every animal they take in and treat it as if it was their own. Each animal is fully vetted and emergency needs are taken care of immediately. Foster home volunteers are provided with anything needed and reminders are sent for foster animals vetting as well as adopted animals. They provide all medical records to the new owners and provide all information available about the adopted animal. They take animals from high kill, over crowded shelters where they would be euthanized due to lack of space. Having seen several aspects at various rescues, I would definitely rate PFL a 5 star rescue.
Paws for Life is a great rescue! My daughter wanted a kitten for her birthday and we couldn't take just one. They were so sweet and so well socialized. They were both really healthy. They have grown into really great cats. We love them so much! If we ever decide to get another cat we will definitely be contacting Paws for Life.
Paws for life is the absolute best rescue out there. We've adopted two kittens from them (so far). They are healthy, happy, and were well cared for by the volunteer. The staff and volunteers there really want to make sure that the fur baby is a good fit for everyone in your home and that you're a good fit for them. Everyone I've talked to there has been extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to answer all our questions. This organization isn't just a "get them out the door" rescue. They truly want to make sure that these animals are going to good people in good homes and ensure they are well taken care of every step of the way. I have a ton of respect for them and all they do.
Paws for Life is an incredible rescue. They take such great care of the animals they rescue and are helpful throughout the entire adoption process. They even let us do a trial period until we were sure our sweet new kitty would acclimate well in our household and with our other cat. They were available and quick to respond with any questions and advice. It’s obvious they are passionate and truly care about the work they do, along with the success of their adoptions and the wellbeing of pets throughout their lifetime. We’re forever grateful that Paws for Life introduced Chickpea into our lives!
Paws For Life Rescue is one of the most caring and compassionate groups I have ever encountered. Their dedication to the welfare of animals is phenomenal! I currently have four fur babies that I adopted or am fostering from this group. My boy Sully was found running the streets of Detroit and literally jumped in the rescuer’s car as soon as she opened her door. After the required stray hold and medical treatment, this loving boy became mine! Ten years later, he’s going strong and is the head of the household of younger dogs and cats.
JoJo was a kitten born from a stray pregnant cat taken in by PFL. She’s a healthy and happy girl ruling over all that comes within her reach.
Paws for Life never abandons those who were in their care. I am currently fostering two kitties whose owner passed away. No family member could take them, so PFL stepped up rather than have them go to a shelter. All medical expenses are covered by PFL so these two will never be allowed to languish from any ailment. All fosters are volunteers and every cent raised goes directly for animal care. I am so proud of the dedication of this organization and my small part of it!

I have adopted several of my fur babies over the years from this wonderful and compassionate group. They go above and beyond to make sure that your adoption is a good fit for the entire family. My Sully was rescued literally from the streets of Detroit. He came to me confused and unsure of what a loving home could be. With guidance and encouragement from PFL, he has become the most loving member of my household. Now, nine years later, he welcomes all newcomers with open paws. Thank you Paws For Life for this marvelous guy in my life!
We have adopted 4 dogs from Paws for Life, and fostered countless! This is the best and most-educated rescue we have worked with.
I adopted an adult cat from paws for life, and then adopted a second younger cat a year later. This group is so thorough in their adoption process and I love how knowledgeable and helpful everyone is! I highly recommend this rescue if you're seeking a new family member!
It is abhorrent that this organization would selfishly keep an animal from a proven owner in order to raise funds for their own gain. If you ever consider donating to them, I advise that you stay from their Gofundme accounts which are raised once their goals are met.
It is shameful to use the vulnerability of individuals through misinformation for the exploitation of their finances.

Our organization does not use GoFundMe. We apologize that you had a bad experience with a different organization, but you have the wrong "Paws" organization.
Paws for Life is a reputable and wonderful rescue that has brought several animal companions into our lives. Adopting our dog, Mac, from them was a personalized experience that helped us to be better pet parents and understand how we can enrich his life. An enormous thank you to all the volunteers at Paws for Life for the hard work they put in to create the perfect match!

Paws for Life is such a wonderful organization, I truly cannot say enough positive things about them! I adopted my first ever cat from them several years ago, and they walked me through the process step by step. They were kind and answered all of my questions, and my sweet girl was well taken care of before she came to me. A couple years later I decided to start working with them as a foster and volunteer and it has been such a fulfilling experience! We adopted our pooch from the organization as well and once again had nothing but positive experiences. I will recommend them to anyone looking to adopt, and will continue to volunteer as much as I can. Thank you for all you do!
We had a wonderful experience with Paws for Life. We drove an hour to one of their adoption events only to find that the dog we were originally interested in was already getting adopted and there were no other dogs at the event for us to see. After hearing how far we traveled, all of the volunteers went above and beyond that day to find us a match while we were still in the area, with one volunteer, Marina, even driving to her home to pick up her foster, Scuba, for us to meet. We are so grateful that she did because we absolutely adored Scuba and how goofy he was. Marina brought him to our home the next day and helped him get comfortable with us, our home, and our other dog. Paws for Life checked in with us over the next couple of weeks as he got settled in and we just felt so supported through the whole process. Thank you for giving us our newest family member!

Kayla was absolutely amazing. She made the entire adoption process very easy and painless! I inquired about Fizz back in October, within a day Kayla got back to me, we set up a time to meet and she introduced me to my now best friend Fizz! She knew everything about Fizz and what would be best for her! She was an amazing foster mom and I could not be more happy that I was able to adopt Fizz from Kayla. She was also very patient with my 1 million questions I had asked and she had an answer to all of them! Thank you again Kayla! Fizz says hello!
Review from Guidestar
I had a fantastic experience adopting 2 kittens from Paws for Life Rescue. The foster mom was incredibly organized and communicated everything in a timely manner. I am impressed with how Paws for Life operates and would recommend using them to anyone looking to adopt a rescue pet.
Paws for life was wonderful. We found our fur baby habanero who was well cared for and loved by his foster mom Cheryl (and foster dad, too!). They even considered keeping him. Thankfully they didn’t and Hobbes is keeping us all entertained while he learns the ins and outs of his new home. Even got snuggles our first day home! This organization really cares for the animals and does everything in their power to ensure a successful adoption.
I had an amazing experience with PFL! We love our little Semicolon!!! He likes napping with our dog, Georgie! Thank you again for such a great experience!
Paws for Life is incredible!!! They care so deeply about all of their animals. The volunteers go above and beyond to make sure the adoption is a good fit. They frequently checked in and if I had any questions at all Alex was just one text away. I am so grateful the adoption fee included the spay surgery and all of her up to date vaccinations! I have recommended PFL to all of my friends seeking a furry friend. :)
We adopted our two cats from this rescue, and they were awesome from the start. The boys moved in with us, and Paws for Life stayed in contact, and continued to provide their first shots and neutering, which was all included with the adoption fee. We're so glad to have these guys as part of our family!
This has been 100% been the best experience I’ve ever had when it comes to welcoming an animal to the family. The team is extremely professional and courteous throughout the whole process. I really can’t recommend them enough.
We adopted these two sweet kittens from Paws For Life Rescue. They have made our family complete. PFL was amazing to work with!!!
We had a fantastic experience with Paws For Life! This is the fourth different rescue that we have adopted from and none of them have come close as far as follow ups and assistance. It’s obvious that they care deeply about the animals in their care. Highly recommend!
I’m so glad to have adopted the 2 kittens I got from such a great Rescue! Great people and made it so easy for me!
Very caring and the type of rescue that always go above and beyond. I couldn’t be more proud of everything they do and being a part of this wonderful group!
I had the opportunity to adopt a 2/3 year old cat and Paws for Life could not have been more helpful or supportive during the process. They responded to my questions and requests quickly and with much care! I love my new best friend!
I had been in the rescue business in another state for 10 years before moving to Michigan. When I arrived, I took time to learn about the rescue groups in this area before I stepped up here. Paws for Life is the best rescue group I have EVER worked with. Stellar values, incredible, dedicated people and a real team effort to save animals. I am proud to be a foster mom for this amazing group.
I recently adopted a sweet little kitten from PFL and could not be happier with my experience! The volunteers were so helpful in terms of behavior advice, and remained in constant contact with me. They made sure she was a perfect fit for my family, and helped with introductions as well. I absolutely love how passionate this organization is, and will recommend them to anyone I know looking to grow their family!
This rescue saved the life of our Bailey! I’ve seen the amazing & compassionate work PFL has done & continue to practice daily! Our lives are fuller thanks to them! I know there are also hundreds of animals who would thank them too!
Barracuda was a very VERY tiny sickly kitten when paws for Life found her. They nursed her back to health and while she is still a tiny girl, she is alive only because of the dedication from the rescue! My family and I are so grateful for Paws for Life! Barracuda is such a perfect fit in our home, we can't imagine life without her now!
I love Paws for Life. They care deeply about the cats and dogs that they care for and really try hard to make sure all adoptions are good matches. They don't judge if something goes wrong and works hard to help new adopters adjust to their furry friends. Their fees are more than reasonable and offer a complete health record. I adopted an older male cat and they advised me on how to integrate him with my two older cats and all has worked out great!
This rescue doesn't let anything get in the way of saving an animal, and doesn’t let politics divide or stop them, like a lot of other “rescues” out there. The volunteers are all down to earth and anyone is always willing to drop what they’re doing in an urgent time of need. They work hard with adopters on medical necessities and training. When someone goes to them looking for a fur-ever best friend, they do anything they can to make it happen! They also work very hard to solve any problems the new adopter may be having with their new fur-baby. They encourage positive reinforcement training and work any events with smiles on their faces. Paws for Life will do anything they can to help save any animal in need, and they care deeply about the well-being of all animals!
Where do I start.... Been with this incredible rescue since inseption. My dogs are rescued from here. I've been volunteering off and on for ten years . To this day I'm still volunteering. I will rescue and volunteer as long as they will let me. Pawsforlife is best rescue in Michigan, in the USA.
I have been a volunteer with Paws for life for the last six years. I have included pictures below of two of my many Foster’s. What I love about this rescue is they go above and beyond for any animal in our care, even when funds are tight they never give up as long as the animal has a fighting chance.
This is my 5th year as an active volunteer for Paws for Life Rescue. They are committed to their mission and follow best practices in animal rescue. There are so many ways to be involved to help homeless animals - either working directly with the animals or helping with events, fundraising and so much more - and it has been very rewarding!

I originally got involved with Paws for Life Rescue so my son could earn community service hours by cleaning the cat habitants at Petco. I quickly found myself fostering kittens, cats and cat families and soon after, we adopted 2 cats from PfL. I am also now involved in online fundraising and other fundraising events. The director, board members and volunteers in this rescue are unfaltering in their energy, compassion and commitment to helping homeless animals with vet care and finding them forever homes.
This rescue is amazing! They allowed me to visit my kitten at the fosters home until he was ready to take home with me so he knew my voice and smell very early on. They made sure they were in constant contact with me for updates and to answer any questions I had. They helped me take him to the vet and make sure he continues to stay healthy. I would recommend this rescue group to anyone looking to adopt an animal. They are truly loving and doing it for all the right reasons
We are a training company that is partnered with Paws for Life Rescue and can't say enough amazing things about them. We have seen them inside and out.. with fosters, volunteers, in shelters, and in homes after dogs are adopted. This rescue really is one of a kind. The extend that they will go to help and work with their volunteers, fosters, and dogs is... unbelievable.
Paws for Life is ethical in their practices and trains dogs using humane and fair training and medical practices, they focus endlessly on shelter support for the shelters in their community, owner retention, canine care, and community education. All of their dogs (pre and post-adoption) receives training from a Certified Dog Trainer and they track their dogs to ensure both the dog and owner are set up for lifelong success and they truly care about every dog and person that they come into contact with.
After spending years being partnered with Paws for Life, I am increasingly impressed with their constant commitment to dogs and people in their community. They believe wholeheartedly that every dog a chance but are still able to balance that with ensuring only healthy, safe, adoptable animals are put into the community. Should an issue come up (weather it be medical, behavioral, or otherwise) they are there to support and ensure the best care and treatment for all involved and responsibly provide dogs with the resources they need to be successful, happy members of society.
I can't say enough good things about them. Anyone that has any questions, I am happy to give my 5-star review a thousand times over! Wish I could mark as 10 stars!
We attended a Kitten Yoga class earlier this year and met the wonderful people from Paws for Life, along with the little fur baby we adopted that night. They were so kind, knowledgeable, and helpful every step of the way. They’ve kept in touch regarding neutering and vaccines throughout the adoption process too. They truly care about each one of the fur babies they adopt out. They are a wonderful organization and I’m grateful to have met them.
We wanted to go through Paws For Life again because of our first wonderful experience with our first rescue, Storm!
Thy are so quick about everything and so thorough about everything. I will continue to be a part of Paws For Life as long as I can. They have helped build my family into the beautiful crew it is today :-)
We adopted Shadow, from Paws for Life, and couldn’t be happier! Jen, at Paws for Life, helped us to find the best fur baby that would get along with our current cat, Panther, and she surely knocked it out of the park. Our other cat, Smokey, had passed away suddenly due to health issues, and Panther was extremely lonely and constantly calling out for his old friend. When we brought Shadow home the transition could not have went any better than it did. In no time, after introducing them face to face, they were cuddling and grooming each other. Shadow is also very playful and loves to play fetch and scatter toys all over the house. He is a very loving cat and definitely won us over very quickly. Thank you Jen and Paws for Life!!
Paws for Life is such an amazing rescue! I have adopted two cats from them and have had the most positive experiences! They all are so kind and are extremely knowledgeable about what they’re doing.
I’ve also had the opportunity to volunteer with them for a handful events and again, they’re all so friendly and really care about what they’re doing!
The young cat adopted recently into my home from PFL was certainly fostered skillfully! She was taught all the housecat prerequisites that made her transition easy and welcomed. Her use of the scratching post, perfect litter box habits, respect of human sleep schedules and friendliness to strangers is remarkable! The new vet at The Kitty Clinic, Tina Ruiz, DVM, remarked "Wow, you have a good one here from a rescue". We both noted that the cat had received good medical care, also. I am exceptionally happy with my lovely PFL cat.
Paws for Life is an amazing rescue. I love what they stand for as an organization. They always make sure that and animal has a new loving home and are in their best health before the get adopted. Everyone I meet is always super friendly and has the animals’ best intrest at heart. These are just some of the reasons why I love volunteering for Paws for Life.
Absolutely excellent pet adoption experience, and it’s grest to know the lengths they go to to help at risk animals every day. I was able to visit Gingham as often as I wanted until she was old enough to take home, and I’m so grateful!
We've adopted four babies from Paws for Life, and we have nothing but great things to say about the organization! They are a professional, wonderful group of people who want nothing more than to help all the cats and dogs in the world find loving homes. I'll definitely use them again when we adopt some more fur babies.
This rescue group is amazing! They not only helped me TNR 10 cats when no one would help, but this organization taught myself and the other care takers how to continue caring for them. They also taught us three caretakers how to continue maintaining them for life. I would like to say a personal thank you to Santa Burger for everything she does she is an amazing part of this rescue organization. Paws for Life Rescue is the best!
We found Paws for Life when we were searching for our second cat. They were so helpful in setting up a time to bring over the kitten we picked out and always available if we had questions on if we were doing things properly. Once we decided to add a third kitty to our family, we immediately knew we wanted to work with Paws for Life again. They’ve been so awesome to work with and still ask about our kitties
I have adopted both my cats from this rescue and they have made the process absolutely perfect. It is clear they value caring for their animals above anything else. I wouldn’t adopt a cat from anyone else, I have referred many friends and family to them!
I recently rescued 2 kittens from PFL and I could not have asked for a better experience. From the day to day check-ins to make sure everyone was settling in comfortably, being properly vetted, to the most dedicated, kind, caring & loving foster family I could’ve ever asked for. PFL goes above & beyond for their fur babies. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart
I started volunteering for Paws for Life a couple years ago for volunteer credits for a college class. At the end of the class, I decided to stay with PFL because my experience with them was amazing and their passion for saving animals inspired me to continue volunteering. I ended up fostering and adopting a cat then a kitten a little while later. I couldn't imagine being a part of a better rescue than Paws for Life. Paws for Life is more than an organization, it's more of a family. Everyone is compassionate about saving animals and helping each other too. I'm proud to be apart of such an amazing family!
I have had nothing but amazing experiences with Paws For Life. Not only have they helped me find the perfect match(es) for me, they have always been available to answer my questions after I get my new fur-kids home.
I have adopted two sweet amazing kittens from Paws For Life. They are an amazing rescue with incredible people who provide care for the poor animals in need. What I love most about PFL is they will never give up on any animal no matter how much of an uphill battle it may be. As long as the animal is fighting, the wonderful people of PFL will fight for that animal.
We adopted 2 amazing kittens into our family from Paws For Life. The foster mom was wonderful and sent us pictures as we waited for our adoption date. They took care of everything and made the transition super easy. Our kittens are about 6 months old now and have made our home so fun and filled with love.
I am a volunteer with this organization, as well as having fostered and adopted my forever friends from them. The devotion and professionalism is outstanding! When an animal becomes part of their system, it is fully vetted, no matter what medical difficulties may arise. All monies raised go for animal care; no one gets paid. Paws for Life lives up to its mission statement of speaking for those who can’t.
Paws for Life is a wonderful organization! It is totally volunteer run, with incredibly low overhead, so all donations go directly to saving animal lives from high kill shelters or other bad situations. I've adopted 4 cats from Paws for Life and now volunteer as a foster parent for cats and kittens. I'm proud to be donor and volunteer at this organization.

Paws for life rescue is the best rescue I have ever worked with. I'm a volunteer and an adopter. I think it's amazing how they take on extremely tough cases medically. They also make sure that the animals get any extra training and socialization that is needed. I am extremely proud to say I am a volunteer for Paws for Life Animal Rescue. And I'm sure I have not adopted my last pet from them either.
Reliable, professional and helpful are three words that come to mind when I think about paws for life. They truly care about the pets in their care
I have been working with the volunteers of Paws For Life Rescue as a Graphic Designer and Photographer and have never seen a more dedicated, enthusiastic, passionate and motivated group of people ever! The lives of the animals are number one. Taking care of medical, emotional and well being of cats and dogs is their main priority. You can feel the love when they talk about the each and every one and their hands on with these pets is with gentle care and responsibility. I am blessed that they allow me to work with them.

07/07/2017 I have been a volunteer for over 2 years now. I foster dogs, puppies, and sometimes kittens. I also help with the administrative side of things. All the volunteers love animals and try to do as much as they can to get them out of the shelters and into living, caring homes. Every weekend, volunteers are hosting events, going to shelters, and getting homeless animals into their forever homes. They volunteer so many hours! We try to respond to every email and phone call and don't have ridiculously overstrict, unrealistic requirements for adopters, but we do make sure it's a good fit for the pet and family. We spay and neuter all pets, along with getting them up to date on all vaccinations. We try to help our adopters as much as possible so both the adopter and the pet are happy. I truly enjoy volunteering and it's the best feeling in the world to get a homeless dog out of the shelter and into a great home with a great family. Also, it's great to meet a wonderful group of people that are very like-minded and compassionate! There's always someone to call if you're having a bad day! PFL also offers educational opportunities to it's volunteers and highly encourages it. Just a great organization that I'm proud to be a volunteer for.
I've volunteered with several animal rescues and this is the very best group of people and take the best care of all their animals than any other I've been with.

I've been a volunteer foster mom with this group for quite a few years. I was amazed at the extremes they will go to, to help an injured or sick animal. The post by AdopterBeware4Paws is NOT talking about this group. We have no cages. We are totally foster based. This group does not take in owned animals. We take animals from high kill shelters that are overflowing. All animals are totally vetted before being adopted out. We are always available to our adopters to help with any questions they may have. Definitely a FIVE STAR organization!
Thank you for rescuing my puppy from an overflowing shelter. She is the best little girl. She has so much personality. She loves my 6-year-old niece and my other pets. I don't know what I would do without her. THANK YOU!!!
Paws for Life has brought great joy into my life with this huddle of love and companionship ❤️ The work they do is amazing, standing true to their mission
I have only been volunteering with PFL for a short time, but I have been blown away by the commitment of the people within this organization. Many spend more hours a week dedicating their time to the animals we rescue than their full time jobs! PFL truly utilizes all resources to make an impact in the lives of local animals.
I am also impressed about how knowledgeable the volunteers are and how they strive to educate the public. Every potential adopter goes through a packet of information with one of our volunteers that explains behaviors, how to decompress a shelter animal, resources for training, etc. They are very thorough and I believe that it makes the families receiving our animals feel like they have a lifeline for questions/concerns.
I am so proud to represent what this organization stands for and look forward to continuing my commitment to speak for those who can't speak for themselves.
I adopted 2 cats from Paws for Life Rescue in January and I could not have had a better experience! The adoption process was easy, the adoption fees were very reasonable and after the adoption they were there to answer all my questions. I will definitely be going back to this rescue for future family additions! I've also volunteered with this rescue and love working their events
Paws for Life strives to save the lives of as many dogs and cats as possible in South East, Michigan. PFL is a 5-Star Certified Rescue, has no paid staff, receives no government funding, and has the lowest adoption fees and most inclusive adoption package of any certified rescue organization in the state of Michigan. We are an Adoption Guarantee rescue, with a 99.9% Save Rate. We are comprised of a small group of a compassionate volunteers dedicated to improving the lives of every animal we come across.
I adopted my cat from Paws for Life and had such a positive experience that I decided I wanted to volunteer my time with them. It's a great group of people who are fully dedicated to animal welfare in all aspects. The rescue takes on difficult medical and behavior cases with the belief that every life is worth trying to save. I'm glad that I picked this organization to volunteer with!
I have volunteer when I can with PFL, and the volunteers only have the dogs and cats best interest at heart. They work so hard to find these dogs foster/ forever homes to get them out of the shelter and into safe and loving homes. I was grateful to be able to foster a dog through PFL , in which ended up being a foster fail. This organization only does their best to protect and save animals. I am glad do to be a part of it!
This is a wonderful organization with dedicated volunteers caring for the animals. Animals receive all needed medical care plus the love and care from the foster families. We have 2 rescue dogs from PFL and they bring much joy to our lives. Jackie boy and Molly have enriched our lives. That is Jackie being a couch potato on his own personal love seat. One of the most professionally operated rescues I know.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience with this rescue. We went to consider adopting a pet and the volunteer who was cleaning the cats' cages was so friendly and knowledgable that we ended up reducing a kitty that day. It was clear that the volunteer who helped us that day as well as the woman who dropped our kitty off to us the next day had the animals' best interest in mind. Everything was very organized and steps were taken to ensure that this kitty was getting a safe and loving home. I would highly recommend this rescue to anyone adopting a pet and would consider a donation to make sure that they are able to get more animals to their forever homes.
I have been volunteering for PFL since February and have been floored with how outstanding this organization is. I saw a post on here that was written about a DIFFERENT organization and reflected negatively on us, so I wanted to set the record straight:
*All of our dogs and cats are fully vetted before adoption.
*We are a 5-star, certified rescue organization that receives no government funding and we have no paid staff.
*We do not believe in nor practice euthanasia for any reason other than irreparable suffering. Period. We pay whatever needs to be paid to help all of the animals in our care.
The volunteers at PFL work so hard, and PFL makes it easy to do so. I spend the majority of my free time trying to save animals in need alongside a huge support system that is trying to do the same.
Our director is one the kindest, most compassionate, and driven people I have had the pleasure of working with, and she has built an incredible team of volunteers who work hard to save as many animals as possible.
My two favorite things about PFL are:
1. The animals come first at PFL - always.
2. When times are tough or overwhelming as they often are in the rescue world, there is always an entire network of people supporting you at PFL.
This is the best and most professional organization with which I've come in contact. Please fill out an application at www.pawsforliferescue.org :)
I have been volunteering with Paws For Life for five years now. This is one of the most hard-working organizations I have ever come across. It is difficult to sum up what everyone does on a regular basis to keep this rescue moving forward each day. It's stressful, daunting and heart breaking to say the least; and completely fulfilling and loaded with things like love, genuine care, pride in the organization as well as our foster dogs and cats and sometimes hope - for the future ahead of us. And then...along with all that... somehow Paws For Life finds the saddest, loneliest and most heart wrenching cases every week and seems to respond to more than I feel that we are capable of handling. Sometimes we win those battles; but not always. Our dogs and cats are healthy, our adopters are screened and then educated, and our volunteers are mentored until they feel confident in their abilities. Not all non-profits can say that. I am not sure that everyone realizes how much work goes into an organization like this but I have to say that this has to be one of the best. Certainly not the biggest, but one of the best. If you are ever interested in learning about a world that you may never have known existed...a volunteer application is waiting for you;)

We adopted our Captain Kirk, aka "Moose," dog from Paws for Life. He has been amazing! He's doing so well. He's a quick learner, too. A very healthy boy weighing in now at 75ish pounds, gets snuggles all the time and is very spoiled. Moose has calmed down quite a bit since being at the shelter and learned some more commands. He is still an upbeat pup, but for the most part, loves to be lazy and sleep.
Thank you for our boy,
Liz and family
I love animals. Right now I foster cats. PFL save as many cats that have nowhere else to go. We, as volunteers, take really good care of the animals. If there's any problems, they go right to the vet. I'm proud to be a volunteer for Pfl!
Paws for Life Animal Rescue should be a role model for other rescue groups. They not only make rescued pets available for adoption, but they're there to support you afterwards with their knowledge, compassion and steady backing. We have two rescue dogs from PfL and the relationship with the dogs and the rescue has enhanced our lives tremendously.
I have 2 rescue dogs from PFL. This organization goes well beyond caring and placing rescued animals. All animals are properly vetted, assessed behaviorally, and all adopters are provided with all necessary information they need for decisions. Follow up checks are made and reminder medical calls are made so these adopted animals continue receiving necessary vaccinations. Professional in their dealings with the public and animals in their care.

This organization, Paws for Life, is committed to helping animals in need. Every member helps in many ways. Transporting, vet appointments, fostering, can drives to earn money for vet bills, etc. Friendly caring people volunteer their time to reach out to needy animals. Trap and release for feral cats has been very successful. People opening their homes to give animals a safe loving environment is wonderful. This organization is a wonderful group of people working for the betterment of animals.

I adopted my two cats from PFL three years ago, and I was impressed at their professionalism, and the care they took to make sure the pets were going to a good and proper home. My cats are healthy and happy, and love their life. I've recommended PFL to friends looking to adopt an animal, and I hope to adopt a dog from them someday.
I have been in animal rescue for 15+ years. I have seen animal rescue done right, wrong and everything in between. PFL does it right. Not only does Paws for Life work to save the individual animals in need of rescue, but PFL works in the trenches working to change legislation and policies that protect animals. PFL keeps up-to-date on animal welfare issues and best practices. They are all about working with people to make the lives of animals better. They make it a priority to educate their volunteers. I run a small independent rescue and volunteer with PFL so I can take what I learn from them and apply it to my group and my personal mission.
I have been a volunteer with Paws for Life for about 2 years This was my first time doing something like this and I have gotten more involved because I have seen the compassion and knowledge of this rescue group. I am amazed by the total devotion of this organization. The nice thing about this group is we are all passionate about animals and there well being. When a call goes out for help someone always steps up to help! I will continue to be a proud volunteer for Paws for life.
I began volunteering with animal rescue organizations around 2001. I have been with Paws for Life Rescue and Adoption since its inception. This organization has more passionate and long-term dedicated volunteers than any other organization I have worked with in the past. Their mission is clear and concise. Every animal that comes to us is treated with respect, dignity and of course like family. The screening policies Paws for Life has in place help to make sure that potential adopter is a good fit for the animal and the new family. Paws for Life is involved with the community through its TNR feral cat program and community education on the well being of animals. Education is key to the success of this organization as we are offered to attend many local and national animal conferences regarding animal welfare. I am very pleased to have found such a great organization to volunteer with. It all begins with leadership.

I have volunteered for Paws for Life since the group formed and it has been the most rewarding experience. We have a wonderful platform to make a difference in the animals lives and a great group of volunteers led by a few people who are dedicated and spend countless hours dontating their time and expertise. Its all about saving lives and educating with PFL!!! Thanks for all you do for the animals!!!
I have been working for Paws for Life Rescue and Adoption for about 6 years. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have experienced! From the executive director's incredible knowledge and compassion to each dedicated volunteer, I have enjoyed doing my part, immensely! PFL is an incredible Rescue, dedicated to the health and welfare of every animal possible! It has been an extreme honor to be a part of PFL. And, every person who has adopted from Paws for Life have been extremely happy with the way they had been treated from the moment they filled out their application. And, many have come to volunteer, to show their love and appreciation to this wonderful rescue.
I became involved with Paws for Life when they helped us adopt our cats. I was impressed with the time and attention paid to finding the right homes for their rescued animals as well as ensuring the proper match for the prospective families. It is clear they are are a compassionate and committed organization - working hard to ensure the welfare of all animals. I have worked with other organizations in the past and have never experienced this level of dedication and commitment to their cause.
Since adopting, I have become a volunteer, working adoption events and helping wherever I can. Paws for Life is deeply involved in all aspects of animal welfare, not just adoption. They are committed to pet advocacy and education as well. I always surprised by the level of knowledge I gain from the organization and its volunteers.
I feel confident when I work with the organization and its team that my time is well spent and my donations are going to worthwhile programs as I see directly the fruits of their labor.
I have volunteered in animal rescue for most of my life. I have worked at animal shelters and volunteered with various animal rescues. It took a long time for me to find a rescue that felt right, that did things the way they should be done, that sacrifices for the animals' best interest and that operates on the philosophy of do no harm while moving mountains to save innocent lives. I was even more pleased with Paws for Life when I learned how much they value continuing education for their volunteers and how tirelessly they work beyond the rescue to advocate for animals, to educate and to make big-picture changes for animals in our state. I am proud to be a Paws for Life volunteer and to know that through my participation in their efforts, I have saved lives and changed lives - of both animals and people - for the better.

We are so sorry you had a bad experience with a different rescue, but we are in Michigan and you are in Florida. It isn't possible that you interacted with this nonprofit.
