Nonprofit Overview

Mission: Paws and Claws Animal Adoption and Care Center, Inc. is a resource for the animals and the community. We will be an establishment that the community is proud to support knowing that we will do everything possible to provide the animals with a “New Beginning”. Paws and Claws will operate an inviting facility to the public and provide a friendly and enjoyable adoption experience. Our facility will be comfortable and healthy to assure a low stress environment for the animals and the public. We will support and conduct educational and informational activities to increase public awareness of pet overpopulation and the importance of spaying and neutering. Through these efforts we will promote responsible pet ownership.

I adopted a pet from Paws & Claws and was so impressed with the place that shortly after, I started volunteering. I drive over 100 miles round trip once a week to give my time to this amazing animal rescue. P&C is by far the cleanest most well organized animal rescue I've ever been in. And the dedicated volunteers are by far the best I've ever worked with. P&C provides for all the veterinary care our animals need. P&C is fully staffed with volunteers only, there are no paid staff there, and the volunteers work from 6am - past 8pm, 7 days a week caring for our animals. I have been a volunteer since 2013 and a board member since 2017.

This is an amazing rescue group. I live in Southern California and when a high profile animal hoarder from Southern California was busted in Cheyenne in 2014, I reached out to them to see if they could rescue a few of the dogs taken from this Cheyenne bust. They stepped up to the plate and rescued a few of the sick dogs from this hoarder - one dog is named Charlie. Charlie was close to death when they rescued him. Sick, emaciated, unfixed, untrained, hungry, extremely neglected. Charlie lived in a cage his whole life, 24/7, with this hoarder and was terrified of people. Five years later, Charlie, thanks to Paws and Claws, is healthy, happy, well-trained and he gets to be a happy and loving dog. Charlie trusts people thanks to Paws and Claws. I attached before and after pictures. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this group. I love them and I love what they stand for. Thank you, Paws and Claws!!!! Robyn Berkenfeld

I was there for the shelter's grand opening, was impressed then and still is now, every animal is so well taken care of and loved. A few months back there was a fall cleaning day, I think the volunteers had more fun playing with the cats and dogs than cleaning. ONE HUNDRED THUMBS UP!

The name says it all, Paws and Claws Animal Adoption and CARE Center. Everyone at this shelter, (staffed only by volunteers), truly cares for every furbaby that comes through the door. They go to great lengths to make sure each animal is adopted to the right family. This facility is so clean and well run, every shelter should aspire to be this nice. The place is so wonderful I drive an hour just to volunteer there.

The animals at Paws & Claws get the best care available. Whenever an animal is sick, they are taken to the vet right away, and are quarantined away from the other animals until they are better. We clean the facility every day so the animals are always in a healthy environment. Not just anyone can adopt an animal. Every precaution is taken to make sure that the pets go to a wonderful forever home. I can only hope that shelters I volunteer at in the future are as great as this one!
