Preservation organization formed in 2015 by a Farm Preservationist and former farmer of Patterson Farm, a Patterson family member, and experienced restorationists and volunteers concerned for the future of agriculture, heritage and wildlife habitat.
The Patterson Farm Preservation group have been staunch advocates for the preservation of the municipal-owned Patterson Farm in Bucks County, PA, lobbying for and achieving a farmland preservation covenant protecting over 100 acres of Patterson Farm.
Through steadfast determination we've kept the preservation of Patterson Farm in the news and on the minds of elected officials. We were successful in raising statewide awareness in 2021 for the farms preservation by achieving its inclusion on Preservation Pennsylvania's coveted At-Risk List.
We are leading the Patterson Farm 350 initiative to responsibly restore Patterson Farm in time to celebrate the 350th anniversary of its founding, which will occur in 2033. We seek permission from the governing body to occupy historic Satterthwaite House as our Headquarters and home of the Patterson Agriculture & Heritage Center, a tribute to the farms' former owners, Thomas & Alice Patterson.
Founded in 1683 by Quaker preacher Thomas Janney, Patterson Farm is comprised of the finest agricultural soils in the Commonwealth, has been a source of locally grown food since its founding, is a National Register eligible property, and hosts a wide variety of wildlife species. It is farmed by 5th generation, award winning Bucks County farmers who practice sustainable farming techniques.
