My mom and I had to travel to the Cleveland Clinic for medical consultations in January. PALS began preparing months in advance with contacting pilots, and reassuring me that I would get safely and on time to Cleveland. When no pilots were available, they gave us vouchers for flights and ground transportation to our hotel, the airport and to the appointments. They were kind and understanding of what our needs were, and met each one accordingly. I thank PALS for everything they do to help patients and families!
There are not enough stars to give this group of amazing humans doing such important work. Once I submitted the form online, it was less than 24 hours before I received a call to review my needs and their services. They were so helpful, kind and compassionate. They walked me through the entire process. Everything was exactly like they explained. No surprises, no issues with travel from start to finish. I can't thank those who helped me with this journey enough. I will be forever grateful to have found them. Thank you PALS team. The work you do is extremely important to people when everything else in their life couid be falling apart around them. Thank y'all for being a beacon of light
So fortunate to have found PALS SkyHope to fly my granddaughter to her medical treatments! Truly a life changing organization!!!
I can’t say thank you enough! My son and I needed a medical flight and the service was all taken care of from the flight to the Uber ride! Pilots were amazing, very caring and helpful.. can’t believe how much this experience helped us .. Will definitely be using again!
After my husband was hit with a serious cancer diagnosis , we had no idea how we would get to Boston as we don't drive much anymore. Then someone mentioned PALS. We had never heard of it, and it saved his life and our sanity. I cannot compliment everyone involved enough ; they were so pleasant and helpful in such a terribly stressful moment in our lives. The pilots are amazing and the flight was only an hour, instead of 6 by car. When my husband was in severe pain, this really mattered. God bless everyone involved in this exceptional service.
PALS has been an incredible organization to work with. The service they offer patients is *such* a blessing. I frequently have to travel from DC to NYC in an immunocompromised state. The ability to travel safely and conveniently is such a relief to us folks battling illnesses. I have also loved getting to meet the pilots who give their time and resources so selflessly.
The coordinating staff has also been amazing. A few months ago, I had a medical device installed that is sensitive to pressure (so no scuba diving or helicopter rides). As many pilots have unpressurized cabins, I thought my time with PALS was over. But the fantastic PALS coordination team were able to find a pressurized aircraft for my most recent trip. I was floored and warmed by their dedication to finding solutions.
In a season of sickness where life is blowing some pretty tough punches, organizations like PALS is a shining star in the darkness.
My husband and I will be forever grateful to the Patient Airlift Services (PALS) organization. Shortly after our retirement and move from New York to Florida, a PET scan indicated my metatastic cancer disease was progressing. The newest tumor was inoperable and several more tumors were appearing. My NY Oncologist of ten years is a doctor who knows my disease. Thanks to the kind and professional volunteers at PAL, especially Cortney and Amanda, who have arranged transportation to NY for my husband and I, I am able to receive treatment from my doctor. This has given me great comfort and has helped to lessen the stress we are experiencing during this very difficult time receiving treatment out of state. It is so heartwarming to be helped by all of the compassionate volunteers at PALS.
PALS goes above and beyond when you need it most. My first flight with PALS was to get home to Vermont after surgery #1 in March. Not only did we fly home with a super friendly experienced pilot that morning, but PALS took care of the transportation from our hotel to the small airport. Directions are easy and you just tap the link in your text, the UBER was there in literally 2 minutes and off we went. Instead of traveling 6 hours by car home following surgery in discomfort, I flew directly to my hometown in about an hour and a half and made it to the couch for some recovery time just 20 minutes later. I'm so grateful for PALS and for everyone involved with the organization.
My wife and I used the PALS SkyHope service for the first time in February of this year. The process to make the arrangements was seamless with the help of the staff at PALS. Cortney and Amanda were great to work with and made sure that the experience was excellent.
We greatly appreciate the PALS service and the volunteers that donate their time to make the program so great. The pilots that we had for this first trip were very nice - professional, personable and caring individuals.
While going to cancer appointments and treatments out of state can be taxing, PALS has taken away any anxiety related to the trips by providing free airfare and ground transportation. We're scheduled for another trip using PALS in April.
Forever grateful for their service! Thank you!
My PALS flight from Hagerstown, Md to Philadelphia, Pa went very smooth! Bless the pilots for volunteering to do these flights! My return flight was smooth also, these pilots are highly skilled!
So thankful for PALS and their pilots they made it possible for my son to receive medical care 12 hours from home! They were very kind, helpful and caring ❤️ and they even got us a Uber to our hotel and back to airport for departure!
What an amazing thing this foundation does. For years I've struggled with a mysterious illness. The doctor bills are always coming in. I've always got appointments coming up. I always lack energy to keep up with the world around me. I can't keep up with things I HAVE to do, let alone those things that would add some much needed quality to life. I feel like I'm always just surviving. I feel like I've always got to find a way to make things work. When I was finally given a diagnosis, I found out the only adult specialist for this illness is in Boston, MA. I had no clue how I was going to make that happen. But these wonderful people at PALS SkyHope, this amazing organization, came alongside me in a way I have never experienced and certainly never expected! I found out about my appointment just days before I had to be there. I live in South Carolina. Getting to Boston wasn't going to be easy. I ran across PALS SkyHope and emailed them that evening. The next day, I received a phone call from Courtney. She was very kind and personable. She told me they would do their best to help me even though it was a holiday weekend. They found me a flight home quickly, but when they couldn't find me a flight there, they actually booked a commercial flight for me! And not just me!! They also made sure my mom could come along with me. I felt overwhelmed by the kindness they showed me. After the appointment, it was time to fly home. I trusted the kind gentleman who offered to get us back home, right when I met him. His kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. And neither will that amazing flight back to South Carolina in his private jet. What this foundation and these pilots do is nothing short of amazing. They give of their time, energy, money, jet, fuel, and so many other resources just because they have good hearts and the desire to lift a burden off of another. I've been living with the burden of chronic illness for years. That is a heavy burden. It's even more difficult to find others who will help you carry that burden. The heavier the burden, the more stress, and the more it impacts an already ill body. PALS SkyHope lifted such a burden for me a couple of months ago. I feel like God used them to part the states for me. I made it to lifesaving care. I will have to visit my doctor in Boston regularly. It is heavy to carry the weight of the future appointments...But to feel like I've got others who will fight for me and help me get there, it makes that burden so much lighter. Thank you PALS SkyHope!!! Thank you, Courtney!!! And thank you to the amazing pilot, Bryan!!! Your kindness will never be forgotten.
When you find out you or your loved one has Cancer it is very overwhelming and scary. To add even more stress and anxiety the Doctor wanted us to go to Boston so my husband could be seen by a doctor there. We knew it would be a long trip and traffic we were not comfortable driving in .Pals really helped lighten the load by flying us to and from Boston and getting our Uber to and from airport to Doctors appointment. We can not thank you enough for your kindness and generosity. We highly recommend Pals to whoever is in need . You will not regret it.Thanks again The Lanes
If you are planning to donate to a non-profit this year please consider donating to PALS. I had the pleasure of being able to use their services. Having a chronic illness, or any illness and needing to travel for medical care can be cost prohibitive. It is seldom that in such situations that one can say something is a "pleasure". Everything about PALS however certianly is. Pilots volenteer their time to fly patients all across America to appts at no cost to the patient! How cool is that?
My husband had colon cancer. We called PALS and they instantly helped us set up Jeff's flights and ground transportation to the hospitals. This type of Cancer becomes very painful to sit. He could not make the trip in a car or by train. We were told about the PALS program. Jeff was able to make it to his appointments because of PALS. Otherwise, Jeff would not have been able to get the medical treatment that he needed. Jeff lost his battle and passed away on Easter. With our deepest thank you to PALS for all they did for Jeff. You are angels in the sky and truly our angels. Thank you!
We have used PALS once so far and plan to use them again. communication was wonderful throughout the entire experience and the request process was easy. We were unable to utilize the private pilot due to weather at the last minute, but PALS took care of us anyway and got us on a commercial flight at no cost to us. During a time of unknown when your cold is diagnosed with cancer they have been a light.
My name is Keyla, and I am so thankful for PALS Flights. I was diagnosed with a new rate disease which had been causing me a lot of pain and discomfort. The sooner doctor that could see me was out of state and would involve me driving 4 hours one way. Thankfully, I found PALS and they were able to fly me and my care partners to my appointments along with accommodating our needs. From submitting my request for a flight to same day notifications and communication the staff and everyone down to the pilot was extremely thoughtful, kind, compassionate and helped us feel so comfortable. I truly can not begin to express how thankful and grateful we are.
I contacted PALs for a flight we desperately need to get our son to Boston Children's from Maine. Office staff were always pleasant and knowledgeable when i needed help or asked questions. Our request for a flight didnt come without its challenges. Since i needed to attend this appointment my newborn who is exclusively nursing also needed to come along. Our son has a nurse that needed to attend as well. At first we thought this might not happen and i would have to travel without the nurse. Our request was fulfilled and all 4 of us were able to go! Our pilot, David, was extremely helpful, kind and did his job well. Once in Boston PALs also arranged for ground transportation to and from the hospital. We're extremely grateful as our experience was uneventful and took away so much stress mentally, physically and financially. I can't thank them and all working parts enough.
We had the privilege of working with PALS for the first time in July of 2022. Our two year old daughter has many medical issues and needs care by specialists at Boston Childrens Hospital in Boston, MA. We live in upstate NY, so we have already spent many hours and resources to travel to Boston each time she needs to see a doctor or have another surgery. For her last surgery we called PALS from a recommendation of another family. It was pretty last minute so we didn't expect it to work out for that trip, but thought it would be good to get in their system for the next time. The pilot called me a few days later, and a few days after that we were on a personal plane and arrived at our destination eight times as fast as we would have driving. The pilot and the owner of the plane flew us there, and we couldn't have asked for more skilled or professional care. Every single person we worked with through PALS was caring, understanding, professional, and so easy to work with. It made the experience of traveling for medical treatment much less stressful and even enjoyable!
Our only regret is not using this amazing nonprofit earlier, the service they provide in matching pilots and planes with families in need is incredible. Thank you PALS!
This service is outstanding and so generous!
My daughter was born with a rare genetic conditon that required two surgeries (and potentially another). Her unique case required treatment and follow ups in Boston. But this is over a 12 hour round-trip drive for us- which is exhausting with a toddler. Since her birth, we've done approximately 8 of these trips, and it takes a toll.
However, we recently learned of the PALS service and it has been a lifesaver! Anyone going through long distance medical treatment knows traveling is just one more stressor, emotionally and financially. PALS made me feel like I had a soft cushion to land on, literally. It's a FREE service, that is funded through donations.
My daughter had a few appointments recently and we were connected with a pilot, David who was amazing and volunteers his time. We flew out of our hometown on a private plane, and were in Boston in just over ONE HOUR! Then, PALS provides a free uber to bring you to your hotel or hospital. And same thing on the return.
Everyone we worked with through this service was so kind and generous. And my toddler loved her plane ride! We were incredibly lucky to benefit from this service, and I only wish we knew about it sooner!
Thank you so much
My 18 y/o daughter has Nutcracker Syndrome which is a rare condition that involves her kidney. Very few people have this condition and even fewer doctors treat it or acknowledge it. When we found a doctor 2,500 miles away who would treat her, we asked for assistance from Pals and without hesitation we were contacted, went through the selection process, and were approved for 2 round-trip airline vouchers on SWA. This lessened the financial burden for our family more than words can express.
PALS provided such a wonderful service for my children when we needed to fly for a medical appointment. The whole process was so smooth, professional and the staff at PALS was friendly, so helpful and so easy to talk to. We are beyond grateful for their assistance on our medical journey.
We are beyond thankful for the the staff and pilots at PALS. Their compassion for helping those in need is apparent in all they do. Our flights were organized and clear itineraries were given in advance. They were able organize our flight near our house to the jet center located near CHOP.
The pilots were both extremely gracious and we felt safe the entire time. Receiving these flights allowed us to take the stress out of driving and spent more time being able to be at bedside with our daughter in the PICU. We are forever thankful for this organization!
We heard about this service from a family member who has an uncle that volunteers for PALS as a volunteer pilot.
We were very concerned about the health risks of flying commercial and traveling out of state by car and navigating to Boston and the surrounding areas that we were not familiar with would have been very daunting.
We were seeking a second opinion and possibly alternative treatment for advanced prostate cancer . From the very beginning when we submitted the application ( which by the way was very easy) they reached out to us very quickly. We hadn't given them very much notice and they were able to get us a plane flying out of Trenton/Bar Harbor to a smaller convenient airport at Norwood, MA, and get us an Uber to our Hotel from Norwood to Newton, MA and 2 days later they did the same coming home. Everything went like clockwork. They were always checking in on us and very thoughtful and helpful. It took the anxiety away about traveling and we are so grateful for EVERYONE involved. The pilots were wonderful! We just can't say enough how much we appreciate this service and the people who all made it such a great experience. Vicky and Amanda are wonderful, Thank you to all the staff at Patient Airlift Services!!
PALS provided free flights for my cousin to travel from Illinois to Texas for medical care. They also provided flights for her mother to join her. Barbara and Amanda are angels on earth. They were so caring and compassionate and super efficient. They are obviously dedicated professionals who love what they do. Their service to our family is truly a blessing! Thank you.
My daughter needed to get to Boston from Northern Maine and I had a case manager tell me about this service. From start to finish PALS was great. Being a single mom this service helped so much. My 2 year old daughter started treatments at Boston Children's and I was stressing about transporting her alone to Boston Children's. This service made it so much easier to travel. The travel process is great. From the moment I submitted the application until we arrived back home this service was beyond excellent, and I am very happy that I learned about it. The pilots were great and I cannot Thank them enough for volunteering their time, plane and service to help us get to where we needed to be.
My wife and I recently had to travel from Maine to Florida where she was to undergo a procedure to fight a pretty aggressive cancer. As this was an experimental treatment it was an extremely costly one out of pocket. As we didn't know how long we would have to remain there afterwards, we only booked a one way down to Florida and would just have to wait and see what came. Soon after the procedure, we were cleared to go home and a friend started the process through the PAL service of Southwest airlines. I had not heard of this before but was soon connected to mission coordinator Amanda Melilli who walked me through the process despite my muddling attempt at comprehension. Such was where my mind was at! Very soon we were back home with family and starting fresh with a new lease on life. We want to thank PAL services and Amanda in making part of this process a manageable and more personal experience. That is something that we will always appreciate and cherish. Thank you all. Karl and Chandra
I have to travel once a month to MD Anderson in Houston, Texas for treatment and the assistance and support we have received through PALS and Southwest has been a blessing to my family and me.
PALS has changed our life,! My daughter travels from Des Moines to NYC every eight weeks to see a doctor and PALS support has eased our stress more than I can say.
I first heard of PALS from a resident of The Hope Lodge, Baltimore. My fiancé' was receiving radiation treatment at Johns Hopkins. He was unable to travel home during his 39 treatments. We live in upstate NY. I have a sleep disorder and cannot safely drive. PALS flew me to and from Baltimore a number of times so that I would be able to provide support to him as well as be home to care for my school-aged daughters. It was unbelievable that this incredible service existed and that I was eligible to be a recipient without the patient also being on board. If it weren't for PALS, I would not have been able to be with him during much of his treatment.
My daughter and I have also been blessed by PALS flights to/from Baltimore for medical appointments for ourselves. In addition, my daughter was a match for kidney donation for a patient in Utah. We found out only a few days prior that she was required to meet with the surgical team. The recipient's medical insurance didn't cover transportation costs. I scrambled trying to find an affordable flight with various airlines to no avail. I began to search online yet every place I found that could have helped required weeks in advance notification/verification/documentation. One of these organizations gave me a telephone number to another organization who may be able to help. After dialing the number I saw Patient Airlift Services displayed on my phone's screen (because they are in my contacts). PALS asked why I hadn't called them first. I explained that I thought they were regional and would not be able to fly my daughter from Buffalo, NY to Salt Lake, UT. She described a Southwest Airlines annual grant that provides medical flights. Within a day, PALS moved mountains and secured a flight, not only for my adult daughter but for me as well. Unfortunately, Covid 19 flight restrictions were implemented the day prior to flight.
My parents reside in the state of Washington. My mother needed a surgery by a specialist that did not exist anywhere in their state, including Seattle. PALS arranged flights for my parents to Johns Hopkins for both her consultation as well as her surgery.
My daughter was diagnosed with cancer on June 28 of this year. On that same day I secured an appointment at Memorial Sloan Kettering. I contacted PALS on 6/29 to see if they might be able to fly us to NYC for her 7/9 appointment with the surgical oncologist. PALS explained to me that there was only one flight coordinator on duty for the week due to the upcoming holiday (july 4). In addition, there were 8 flight requests ahead of mine. I was told the likelihood was dim. The VERY next day I received a call. Every pilot had accepted the flight request. Once again, PALS extraordinary staff and pilots met a need at the eleventh hour moving mountains on our behalf. This has happened numerous times.
The staff are available 24/7. They work tirelessly to meet the needs of their clientele whether given weeks or only a few days advance notice to coordinate flights. I remain eternally grateful to them. The pilots, often times, retired military, retired commercial pilots, cancer survivors, private citizens who donate their flight expertise, plane, time and resources to give.
The staff and volunteers are just that, GIVERS. Selfless individuals, empathic, compassionate, efficient, professional to the nth degree. I have only one thing left to say to those who are associated with, or employed, by PALS: don't ever wonder if you have made a significant and lasting difference in my life. Be assured you have done so in and for the lives of thousands. God bless each and every one of you!!!
I was introduced to Jamie Newberry and the PALS organization by a colleague who volunteers as a pilot in his spare time. I was immediately drawn to their mission and knew we needed help to spread the word about the great work PALS is doing with the rest of our company. Jamie was more than willing to engage with our employees by hosting a webinar and share how the PALS team is making an impact in the community and the numerous ways we can partner and get involved. We’re excited to build on our new partnership and help Jamie and the team at PALS accomplish their goals.
I was recovering from catastrophic surgery for 15 months in NY after a cancer recurrence. I wasn't making enough progress to be able to travel home in any usual way. I'm so grateful for PALS. They made my homecoming dream come true!
I was helping my friend with finding a service to transport her brother and niece from Charleston South Carolina to Minneapolis Minnesota. I called several Non-Profit organizations and finally reached PALS. The brother is military and had a stroke and the niece has a heart condition. It was like a miracle!!! Barb Ohland answered the phone and BINGO she started to make it happen. I am so impressed with the service and the communication that the team provided. We were never in the dark, and Barb made the entire event very simple and yes we understood everything PALS needed to help us with this. I cannot say thank you enough for this awesome group and thank you for recognizing them. They definitely are an ELITE team.
PALS is a great service! Our son was diagnosed with AFM (Acute Flaccid Myelitis) in 2018 and PALS has helped us with Flight vouchers to take him across the country for medical treatments over the last year. They are truly a blessing.
Hi, I cannot express enough gratitude to the entire PALS team: Barbara Ohland, Amanda Melilli and John Rochelle. They are the kindest and most compassionate individuals. My niece Heather needs to get to Philly from Orlando for CAR T therapy. These 3 have seemlessly organized flights both ways. They have made a difficult situation so much easier. We will share photos. Thank you Thank you!
Thanks to PALS we were able to get our son to Boston for life altering medical treatment. They were able to fly 2 of us through southwest at no charge. We are beyond grateful for this organization and not sure how we would of been able to afford to get our son where he needed to be without this!!! The process was super easy and the staff that I was in contact with was absolutely amazing and made it super easy and stress free!! I highly recommend this organization!! Thank you PALS!!!
There are no words to express our gratitude to PALS. We were told that Sweet Pea would likely not survive to the age of five. Refusing to accept that as our truth, we researched care around the world for our sweet girl. We were fortunate enough to find specialty care in Boston, which was far from our home in Georgia. Our journey has been one of many tales. Sweet Pea is here today due in large part to the support of many doctors, medical support personnel, family & friends and Good Samaritans. One notable Good Samaritan being PALS! The last heart surgery resulted in the need for additional immediate care which caused us to have to rapidly return to Boston from Georgia. With such a short time between trips, our financial responsibility would have been overwhelming. PALS afforded us the unforgettable and invaluable opportunity to focus mostly on the treatment and health of Sweet Pea and less on the logistics. We are forever grateful to PALS!
My name is Omar Capo I'm currently battling a rare Cancer called Sclerosing Rhabdomyosarcoma. I'm so grateful to Pals for helping me get from Pennsylvania to Houston so I could meet with MD. Anderson for a 2nd opinion. They are coming up with my treatment plan so I can hopefully be healed. I'm so grateful for your kindness and help, my family and I thank you.
I have a rare disease called Ehlers-Danlos and mine had effected my ability to walk and to use my shoulders. It has also effected my heart and other parts of my body. Thanks to PALS, I can go from Nashville to Los Angeles for free. That releases a huge burden from me. I am on disability and my mother is helping my with my bills and this is a big help. God bless PALS, especially Amanda Melilli who is the Missions Coordinator. Amanda is very helpful and very easy to work with. I am so thankful to God for PALS. You have made my life so much easier. With all the different doctors and hospitals I have to go to it was very hard to find economical flights, but now thanks to my friend telling me about PALS, a big burden has been taken off me.
PALS has been so very helpful to us ~ truly amazing. We were flown by PALS on 4 different occasions through treatments for our son Karson. We will be forever thankful to them for their support and help during that difficult time. They truly made our experience so much easier.
I am a social worker in a rural upstate NY hospital. I have a dialysis patient who was trying to get on the transplant list for a kidney. The various tests she was required to undergo revealed a very significant heart defect which prevented her from being considered for a transplant. Her condition was quickly deteriorating and she was having difficulty with activities of daily living, and eventually with ambulating more than a few feet. She was referred to several cardiologists who were unable and unwilling to attempt the surgery to repair her heart. One of them reached out to a leading hospital in New York City, and the cardiac team there agreed to perform the operation. The hospital was 6 hours from the patient's home, and she had never been in a big city before. PALS was contacted and immediately put together a team. My patient was able to fly from a nearby small airport to a regional airport near the city. PALS provided ground transportation directly to the hospital. The surgery was successful, and amazingly the patient was able to return home the following day with PALS again providing ground and air transportation. Her condition was much improved and she is now able to participate in cardiac rehab to further improve her health and move towards the possibility of a kidney transplant. She never would have been able to have this critical surgery without PALS and we are extremely grateful.
We are partnering with PALS to provide support to families who need to get to critical live saving treatment for their children. PALS has the absolute best customer service and do everything they possibly can to make travelling to their critical destinations easier for their families. It is an absolute honor to be able to partner with them, and to work with them as we continue to help support families during their most difficult time of their lives.

My experience with PALS was a couple years ago as follows...I am now a volunteer advocate for PALS
This week was a humbling, educational week for me as a person.
I have been advocating for PALS for a few months now at Samaritan Medical Center, where I work as an Interventional Radiology RN. My life is in service to others, and I try to make a difference every day to as many people as I can. I never thought I would be in a position to use the service that I have been advocating for until I needed their help myself. These people are the best example of compassion and humanitarian service that I have ever encountered.
My need was to get to Baltimore for a much needed procedure to find and repair a vascular problem that I am experiencing. As I explained to the office people at PALS, I did not know if I should be asking for their help, as even though I could find a way to get there on my own, it was a true hardship for me. That was all they needed to hear ...to embrace me and take me 'under their wings' to get my much needed intervention. In fact, they would not accept anything other than to do whatever they could to help me get what I needed...
Little did I know that it was the least obvious services that I needed the most. The caring, passionately compassionate people that I encountered at PALS truly raised me to a new level. I was so incredibly humbled to have been embraced by strangers that I have never met, and never felt alone on my journey to John's Hopkins...because I was not. Every person with whom I spoke at PALS was right there with me. This meant more to me than I could ever express.
On my flight, my pilot ( I was sure he was MY pilot but knew that he was that to countless others as well) was an amazing person, and pilot. During his instructions he noted that he had a journal we were welcome to read and even contribute to if we wished. I read EVERY page of the journal and was touched by each of the hundred plus pages of entries from grateful recipients of his service to them and PALS (I was later to learn that he was one of the founders of the PALS service). One entry shone through all of the rest. It was a beautiful and touching entry from his wife, Christine. He had the opportunity to help her and others in her family in a time of need to get to see a dying relative. I am sure that she never expected to actually bear witness in such close proximitry to what her husband was doing when he excused himself from her during his 'time off' from whatever his life and work demanded. I am sure she knew what a great guy that she married, but it must have been still enlightening to her to have been able to experience this part of his life. I am sure that with every mission, and with every absence from a family function, that her husband is easily excused by her. My bet is that she now feels like she takes a willing part in every soul that her husband helps in his service.
My mission did not end with the news or successful intervention that I had hoped for, but I was truly enriched by the experience.
Lots of words here, but I still say...words could never express!

This wonderful organization is very near and dear to my heart. As a volunteer pilot I'm glad to be able to help PALS complete their missions. Enabling people to get the help and care they need. Please pass this along and donate toady. https://palservices.org/donate/
This is such a great cause. They really work to make every dollar count for the people they service. They go above and beyond. Organizations like this make the world a better place.
I contacted PALS with a very tight timeframe--travel within days, with really only 2 business days to get everything done. The trip is from Minneapolis to New York for my 7 year old son who is on a cancer trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering. Amanda was on top of everything and we were able to get travel booked and squared away quickly. I am so grateful for PALS and Amanda, especially during this extra stressful pandemic time.
I have been sick for several years and have gotten progressively worse. PALS provided round trip transportation for my husband and I to fly across the country to see a specialist that was able to diagnose me and get me started on my path the healing. I am so incredibly grateful for how easy it was and for the support that they offered that made this possible!
They provided a round trip flight for surgical consultation that led to me receiving life changing surgery. I will always be exceptionally grateful for their assistance! They were extremely helpful, friendly, and highly professional from start to finish. I cannot say enough good things about my experience!
What a wonderful group of compassionate human beings!!! PALS have played such an important role in our family's ability to get to much needed doctor's appointments. They have helped me get to my appointments to received treatments for stage Iv lymphoma when treatments at other facilities were not working. Also, they helped get us to appointments for a specialist for my son's congenital heart condition and now to appointments to confirm my remission!!! Thank you PALS!!!!!
PALS is an amazing organization. Both flights went smoothly and we were blessed to have wonderful pilots, Greg and Don!
Patient Airlift Services (PALS) is a wonderful blessing to many patients and families who need to travel for health care treatment.
Thanks to the generosity of the PALS
volunteer pilots we were able to travel from Chicago to Houston for our very first Living Rare Forum to learn about living with a rare autoimmune disorder. The people we met were amazing warriors and caregivers from across the country. Can't wait til next year!
Special thanks to our phenomenal pilot Paul who went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant experience.
I was first introduced to PALS by my husband who's a private pilot. He joined the organization because of its stellar reputation and love for aviation. He flew a few missions as an assistant pilot and I attended one of the fundraising galas with him. That night while I listened to the heartfelt stories of the patients that had been helped by this organization, I knew that I wanted to become more involved. My background in marketing and event planning seemed like the perfect match and I wanted to lend my skills to their hard-working staff. I became an administrative volunteer at the PALS office over a year ago. I have seen first-hand all the time and effort that goes into coordinating the flights that help hundreds of patients get to their treatment facilities. The mission coordinators spend countless hours arranging transportation and the marketing team plans numerous events to help raise the funds needed to help those in need reach their critical care. I am truly amazed by the entire staff's dedication and the genuine love they feel towards the patients and their families. I must also applaud the many volunteer pilots that provide their planes and expertise to this worthwhile and important cause. I am grateful that PALS gave me the opportunity to witness all the good work they do throughout the year.
PALS provided my family with transportation to attend NORD’s Living Rare, Living Strong patient forum. This was the first time we’ve been able to attend an event like this and because of PALS generosity my son and I were able to meet a couple other families that share our rare disease, Hypophosphatasia. Our amazing pilot, Joe, was so friendly and ensured we had a smooth ride. My son and I enjoyed getting to ride in the cockpit and getting to learn about the airplane! We are so grateful to everyone at PALS for providing this great service to families that require travel to see specialists.
My name is Joel N. Jandreau from St Francis Me. My wife and I are Outreach Ambassadors for Patient Airlift Services. We provide free air transportation for people in need of medical diagnosis and treatment. We can fly you an unlimited amount of flights for the patients and a caregiver/spouse. If it is more then a two hour drive for the patient to receive their treatment. If you go to Boston, we even take care of the taxi so when you leave home you don't have to worry till you get to the hospital. We also fly nationally for patients that have to go further and this is all with no cost to the patient. There is absolutely no cost for any of the services that we provide. For more information please call 1-888-818-1231 you can also reach us on line at www.palsflight.org Changing lives one flight at a time.

I had to go to Boston for surgery a few months ago so I applied with PALS for transportation. Jim the pilot and Annie the copilot were super helpful to me. It was a real good flight and Jim is a fabulous pilot. when we landed Jim and Annie waited there with me till the Taxi got there and didn't leave till I was gone. Jim even called the Taxi for me. for someone that wasn't used to traveling this meant a lot to me. I want to thank Patient Airlift Services, the staff and all the volunteers for all they do for everyone every day. and mostly Jim and Annie for making my flight enjoyable and safe.
PALS offers the most amazing service. The team genuinely care about cancer patients and going above and beyond to get their needs met. They have provided numerous trips to and from for our caner patients to receive the best treatment for their types of cancer.
The American cancer Society- Hope Lodge Baltimore honors and salutes this outstanding group.

I manage a cancer facility in Baltimore that houses cancer patients while going through treatment. PALS has assisted numerous families flying to treatment and back home. They genuinely care about patients and supporting the caregivers. I am proud to use this service for my cancer patients and honored to be a volunteer.
This is a fantastic nonprofit that is doing amazing and heartwarming efforts for people! They made it possible to fly our 2 year old son to see a specialist in New York for his condition, something that would not have been possible without them. So blessed to have an organization like this that is doing the right thing and truly cares for people!
My son and his best friend both suffer from the rare disease, Prader-Willi Syndrome. There is a break through medicine in the last stage of a trial and we were able to get in to this trial because of PALS. We both live in Colorado and to travel to New York would have been financially impossible for us. PALS stepped in and helped us coordinate flights with South West Airlines and it has been seamless. We could not be more grateful for both of these amazing companies!!!! Here are our two amazing lil ones enjoying the plane ride to NY!!!!!!!
My daughter Ivy Lee was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma 18mo ago. we have flown with PALS and will rely on their support throughout the next year. If it wasn't for PALS we wouldn't be able to make ends meet at home and Ivy wouldn't be able to receive life saving treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. a HUGE shout out to PALS staff and pilots for your amazing work!!
These folks are a blessing from God. When I was first diagnose with Ocular Melanomia it was devastating to say the least. In order to get them treatment I needed I was referred to Wills Eye Institute in Philadelphia. I was told I needed to be there in approx. a week and a half and was not sure how we were going to do it with airline tickets being far out of our financial ability’s. Then I was referred to PALS and it all fell in place. They handled my flights through Southwest and it was so easy. They tool a lot of stress off of me and my family at a time that it could not be more appreciated. I still have to fly back for follow up appts. And they have expressed their willingness to get us there and back! Thank you so much PALS and Southwest Airlines, you all are hero’s in our book!
Because if PALS I am able to get the cancer treatment that I need. Traveling from New York to Houston every 3 weeks! The staff are fabulous and are always quick to help!
If not for the generosity of everyone associated with PALS we would not have able to adopt and care for 2 very high Medical needs children❣️They are simply amazing and our kiddos are thriving because of them❣️They are part of the village it take to give these kiddos a fighting chance
As a volunteer at PALS, I have seen the great work and collaborative efforts the entire staff does to help people get transportation to the medical attention that they need.
My husband and I had the great experience to take this service once we adopted our daughter and she had medical needs to see the doctors in boston Mass. I cannot express the love that these people have for others. I know we def. Appreciate the gift they have given us to be able to go all together to see our daughter doctors. I def. have to say we highly recommend these services to anyone with a medical need. THe love and care and support even if it is an hour flight is tremendous. Thank you again. I def will use this service again.
Being diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic prostate Cancer was a life change for my wife and i, After so many journeys to so many Health care providers i was beginning to to feel helpless with one of the turning points for my treatment and scheduling. i was unable to have my wife attend this meeting, i began to look for help and came across PAL, made the call and (AMANDA) answered the phone and took control. Amanda had taken all my worries off my shoulders and had made it all possible for my wife and i to attend the 7 hours of staging and scheduling at MSKCC/NYC and fly us back to Albany N.Y
One thing i became aware of is the Angels our Lord Christ sends to us to watch over and help us in our time of need PAL (Amanda) was one of those Angels and my Wife and i are so Thankful for there generosity and compassion it restores ones faith in Humanity and we both Thank them with all our hearts
God Bless Pal/Amanda and there entire staff . Very special souls they are !!

A huge THANK YOU being sent to PALS and Southwest Airlines! You made it possible for me to take my son from Iowa to Boston Children’s Hospital for second opinion. Although, we are still awaiting some results, we are so appreciative for the opportunity you gave us!
I want to shout out a HUGE THANK YOU to PALS and Southwest Airlines for making it possible for my husband and I to travel from Pennsylvania to San Diego for treatment of my Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. Everyone who coordinated my trip at PALS (especially Amanda) were so caring and helpful! What a wonderful team of compassionate people! Southwest personnel were all AWESOME with boarding, wheelchair and seating arrangements on all flights. I am now starting to reap the benefits of my treatment made possible by PALS and Southwest. God Bless you all!
Sincerely,
Theresa and Shannon
Needing assistance with a flight, I called Patient Airlift Services. The office personnel especially Amanda were wonderful having to make several calls over days to coordinate my trip. All were knowledgeable and so helpful. Absolutely above and beyond!!!
My son Cannon has a rare genetic disease called Gaucher Disease. His treatment and follow up care required that we travel from South Louisiana to Fairfax, Virginia to see his specialist. His care is quite costly and PALS helped us in a time of need get to Virginia by providing us with Southwest Airlines vouchers. We are so appreciative! The entire PALS staff was so helpful and awesome to work with. They even got us set up with vouchers while they were working from home during a blizzard! Thanks PALS!!!!
words cannot describe the appreciation and love i wish to convey to Barbra of PAL ,and all those ,the staff/Crew at Presque Isle airport, the PenAIr pilots crew and Airline and the ground crew with PenAir at our deplaning in Boston ,and again with our return flight late that same day ,the setting up of handicap ramps at both ends of our flight and our return flight ..and the assistance of the Uber service in Boston ... all efforts were overwhelming and totally personal to Miki's needs in HER ,what turned out to be her/our last ditch effort with the Brain Cancer , she had been battling for a year and a half.... to say Thank You, pales to convey my/our eternal gratitude ! Ray J Gillilan for and with Miki Kazmarek
We absolutely love PALS! A year ago my then 6 yr old daughter was on a one year trial at Sloan in NYC to help prevent relapse of her stage 4 Neuroblastoma. PALS flew us on many trips during that year from Mass to NY for her treatment. The office staff at PALS is wonderful! They work hard to schedule flights to accommodate the patients. And the pilots are AMAZING! We met some truly wonderful people. Thank you PALS! We are forever grateful!

I am a cancer patient who needed to fly from Cleveland to San Diego for treatment. PALS was an excellent resource that worked with Southwest to ensure my daughter and I would safely arrive in San Diego. The staff at PALS are very responsive and willing to work with you. The entire crew at Southwest was friendly, accommodating, and provided an enjoyable flight. I am so appreciative they were all able to help.
Thanks,
Denise
I was burned badly in a bonfire accident when I was 12 years old. It was PALS that got me back and forth to my ongoing Care with the Shriners. The pilots were always so nice. And did their best to accommodate. I am so thankful.... Don't know what I would of done without them, Shriners and the temples that coordinated everything... I made an amazing recovery. Thanks for everything PALS!
I don't think I can adequately find the words to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for all that PALS did for me.
Approximately one year ago, I was diagnosed with an extremely rare disorder. Unfortunately, the only available treatment was located 8 hours away. By some miracle, I happened to speak to someone who mentioned a service called PALS. I remember making the call and speaking with Barbara while shaking and crying. Could this really be true? Would it be possible to decrease my travel time and reduce the unbearable pain my body felt after each trip?
In short, the answer was yes.....in the form of two angels, John Bruno and Joseph Braddock. These two men, on their OWN time, were patient, kind and understanding of my situation.
The appreciation, gratitude and thankfulness I feel for what PALS and their two pilots did cannot possibly be put into words. I just hope all of them know what a difference they have made for me and my family.
In short, it does not seem enough to say "thank you. I only hope that " PALS and these two pilots" know how genuine and sincere it is.
Warmly,
Robin
PALS flights have helped many families get to and from Camp Sunshine in Maine! The staff are a pleasure to work with and go above and beyond to advocate for and share resources for the families we serve. The volunteer pilots truly love what they do and many families who come to Camp via PALS say the flight itself was truly a memorable experience. Thanks for all that you do!
I’ve been a donor to this organization for many years. The expertise, dedication and enthusiasm of the volunteers and staff are exceptional. I'm proud to say I support PALS and commend them for all their efforts on behalf of the less fortunate. PALS is a true blessing to all! Keep up the outstanding work.
A wonderful experience and organization! As a pilot, I enjoy flying. But the best part of a PALS Mission is meeting a patient and their caregiver. There is no better experience than being able to help another family in need!
All I can say is that PALS is an absolute true blessing to our family. Honestly I can't imagine doing our journey with our daughter without them. We have had the most amazing expirence flying back and forth from Rochester NY to Boston Children's Hospital for treatments for our 1 year old daughter. Not only have they done this multiple times they all are the kindest people with the biggest hearts. Thank you thank you PALs for making this hard journey a little easier! We are so grateful
Pals flew my my daughter Ashley and myself to camp sunshine in Maine . Camp sunshine is ashley's favorite place,it is a family cancer retreat. Being a single mom makes it a rough trip for us to go by car. It usually takes us a whole day driving there and a whole day back. The flights gave us two more days to enjoy camp. The flights were about an hour and a half each way. Flying in a personal plane was the best experience we have ever had. It was personal, fun ,exciting, great pilots/people and beautiful scenery. Pals is awesome! Thank you so much for all you do!!!!
The PALS team is a top notch volunteer organization that makes an immeasurable difference on the life of patients by providing the transportation they need to receive the best treatment available to them.
I've been volunteering for Patient AirLift Services for over two years now. The amount of compassion the staff, volunteer pilots, and other volunteers put into helping others is incredible. They have provided services to multiple families I've referred to them. PALS has helped alleviate travel time for these families durning one of the most difficult times in their lives. Highly recommend.
We first met Jaime and PALS when they partnered with Candlelighters NYC (another non-profit group helping kids with cancer) and they threw a party for the kids. Some of my best memories from that night are my daughter, Delaney and her best friend RJ spending precious moments together. RJ lost his battle later that year and photos and memories are what we have to cherish. PALS will always hold a special place in our hearts. And we LOVE Jaime!!!
I have been a volunteer pilot with Patient Airlift Services for over 2 1/2 years and flown over 40 missions.
Patient Airlift Services provides an invaluable solution for people who need access to medical treatments that is often a great distance from where they live. It's fair to say that without Patient Airlift Services, many of the patients would simply not have access to the best medical treatment that gives them their best chance to be healthy again! What could be a 5 or 8 hour drive to their treatments can be flown in 1 to 2 hours, easing their burden of travel, and at no cost to the patient.
It's a privilege to fly for Patient Airlift Services, and an even greater privilege to fly the courageous patients we serve.
The work that Patient Airlift does truly changes lives, 1 flight at a time!
I have been a volunteer pilot for PALS since it started in 2010. It has been a great organization...from the staff, the board of directors, the pilots, and all the other volunteers, we are dedicated to helping those in need of transportation for medical care, compassion flights, and our Patriots. I am honored to fly for...and support PALS!
As a volunteer pilot for Patient Airlift Services I have only great things to say about them. They provide free flights to patients that would otherwise need to make long, uncomfortable trips to receive treatments. They show extraordinary attention and care to these patients. They facilitate these flights with excellent communication and follow through. They treat their volunteers with respect and value their service. They execute their mission with a positive attitude that reflects throughout the whole organization. All this makes me extremely grateful to serve with them.
As a volunteer pilot for PALS, it’s very rewarding to know I am making a difference in the lives of those that are experiencing medical needs and transportation via flight can help ease the burden. The level of precision that the staff has to help coordinate the flights is above compare.
Our pediatric cancer nonprofit, Band of Parents, is thrilled to partner with the top-notch staff and pilots at PALS to help our neuroblastoma families. Thanks to PALS, our affected children can get free flights to the top cancer centers throughout the country for treatment. Recently, one family contacted me desperate for a flight from the midwest to New York's Sloan Kettering; it was a weekend, but the dedicated PALS team got right back to them with reassuring information. This is an organization that walks the walk -- they are truly "PALS" to the must vulnerable among us.
My husband Joe was diagnosed with tongue cancer and decided to get valuable opinion from some of the best oncologists in the country at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. A patient coordinator hooked us up with Pals. They are a non profit organization that helps with the traveling needs of cancer patients. There is no charge to the patient and a companion...They are awesome! They booked the flights and arranged for ground transportation to and from the hospital and airport! What a great team! Courteous and understanding, they made it easy and relieved me from the burden of all that bureaucracy so I could concentrate on my husband....Thank you Dee, Thank you Karen and the rest of the Team! You guys Rock!
I am a cancer patient whom resides in the state of Maine. Dana Farber has been part of my treatment for two years now. Before I knew about PALS traveling to Boston became difficult. I use to depend on the bus, this way of travel became time consuming and dangerous to my immune system. I was introduced to PALS during a cancer retreat in Vermont, I have used them ever since. The employees along with many pilots are professional and very kind and understand the obstacles that go along with a cancer diagnosis. Kudos to this non-profit organization, keep up the great work.... :)
PALS has helped many children (and their family) get to treatments far from home! Many of the children Ellie's Hats works with trust PALS! Time and time again their pilots are kind and caring. Great job PALS!
PALS transported my 2 children to a camp this summer for kids with cancer and their siblings. The pilots were amazing and although my daughter has special needs, there was no big deal and they treated both of them with care and concern. The kids thought the flight was awesome and "Mom" was at ease and trusted they were safe. They are already talking about next year!! Thank you PALS!
Declan was diagnosed with rhabdoid tumor at 21months,he is now 14 with some late effects- but a healthy kid. Declan’s favorite place in the world is Camp Sunshine in Maine, and PALS flew us there....Declan’s safe place where everybody understands Declan & cancer. Not only did PALS fly Declan -they were so informative, got Declan inovoled with explaining all the details of flying, which made Declan feel so special! Thank you PALS for bringing Declan to his happy place!!!!
What a fantastic organization! My son Michael is a 100% US Marine. He did two tours of duty in Karmah, Iraq and Habbiniyah, Iraq. PALS for Patriots flew my son Michael and my other son Thomas who is a US Army Veteran along with two other wounded veterans from White Plains, NY to Boston to be treated to a once in a lifetime visit to Fenway Park. They had a tour of the stadium, met the players, went to practice, were treated to a fabulous lunch and then the actual game where they were honored on the field by the Boston Red Sox Organization. They had a standing ovation and their names and military were announced and their amazed and happy faces were displayed on the jumbotron. I have not seen my son Michael so happy and appreciative of what PALS for Patriots and the Boston Red Sox Organization did for them. He could not stop talking about the amazing day he had an the lifelong friends he made that were on the flight along with him. All I can say is that I never knew this organization existed by I will make sure I let everyone I know be informed of all the good that they do for the sick and for our disabled military veterans. This was an amazing trip that will live a lifetime in the memories of both of my sons. They were so appreciative of the amazing opportunity. It really uplifted my disabled sons life and will continue to uplift him in his memories of the day. Thank you PALS!!
We had a wonderful experience with PALS during a March flight to the Shriners Hospital in Boston. Everything worked out so that we did not have to spend many hours traveling in a car from Northern Maine to Boston. We appreciate the flights that we received. Thank you again!
Because of PALS I will be able to have surgery for my Stage IV colon cancer. PALS provided my husband and I with a free flight to NYC from Minneapolis in January 2017 so that surgeons at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center could review my records and consult with me. Surgeons in Minneapolis said they could not do surgery but Sloan Kettering surgeons said they could do surgery. I would not be able to receive this care without the kindness and generosity of PALS. Everyone there, especially Karen and Barb, are so kind and helpful. I can't thank you enough!!
I have had the great privilege to volunteer with this wonderful organization for several different events. You can see so clearly the amount of love, and compassion that is put into everything PALS does. Everything from arranged flight, to ground transportation, and the events are done with a big smile. PALs is unlike any volunteer organization you see these days.
Our 3 yr old great nephew is being treated for cancer and had to get to Sloan-Kettering in NYC for further testing and treatment. He cannot fly commercial air due to his low resistance to fight off any bacteria. Patient Airlift Services stepped in and got Elijah and his parents to NYC with services coordinator Barbara arranging it and Pilot Dan getting them to NYC on a smooth flight. We can't say Thank You enough to Patient Airlift Services for ensuring our precious cargo got to their destination!
In November 2011. , my daughter received a lung transplant. About a week later, she suffered a devastating stroke. We were hundreds of miles away from home and all alone . We did not know if she would survive. PALS stepped in and flew not only my father from Long Island but our daughter out of Baltumore as WellPoint be with us at UNC. We could never be more grateful. They are kind and always ready to help those facing the worst of times.

They were able to fly my father and daughter to North Carolina to be with my daughter in the hospital after her lung transplant and stroke. What they were able to do for us is priceless. As a nurse I see how they serve the community. They are doing God's work
Wow just about covers it, but not quite. We were connected with PALS last November when we needed to take our son out to Boston for several appointments at Boston Children's Hospital. Joe and Brian happened to be the second leg of our journey, from Columbus, OH to Boston. They got us there safely and comfortably. It was really neat to see that the pilots worked together to get patients where they needed to go.
Our return trip was nothing less than phenomenal! We were picked up in Boston and flown up to White Plains to re-connect with Joe and Brian. They flew us back to Columbus where we were to be picked up and flown the rest of the way to Battle Creek, MI. Unfortunately, our other pilot was unable to make it out of Chicago due to icy conditions. My wife and I were prepared to find a hotel for the night and figure out what to do the next day. We were not expecting anything more because everyone had already done so much. But, the next thing we knew, Joe announced that they were flying us all up to Battle Creek before they went back east with the other patients. If my jaw wasn't attached it probably would have hit the floor.
To say that the men and women of PALA have gone above and beyond is an understatement. It's truly humbling to see people with hearts this big. Since then my wife and son have used their service to fly out to Philadelphia and New York.
We will be flying out to New York again in a few weeks. Our son will be having surgery on his spine for a rare condition called a Syringomyelia. He has become an avid flyer and flying with PALS has made him want to become a pilot himself and buy his own jet. He has even started his own savings fund to buy one when he gets older. The way that this incredible patient resource has made long trips for a little boy who has a hard time traveling and the impression the people made on him makes me proud to write this story. Our son's story is still just in the beginning, but I am positive PALS will continue to be a very special part of it.
I was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in April of this year. As we learned of possible treatments it became obvious the I needed to be seen at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. Being from Maine this was definitely a bit of a set back but with our determination of getting the best possible care it was a no brainer. My wife made the connection with PALS and the process was quite easy and we received flights back home from Minnesota. The staff that she worked with were very helpful and Southwest Airlines was more than accommodating. Thank you Patient Airlift Services!!
I have logged over 60 flights with PALS over the past few years. Living on the coast of Maine, and going down to NYU Medical Center in NYC was a burden. The anxiety while sitting on the bus for the thirteen hour trip was horrible. Riding the bus back up to Maine after the chemo was even worse. After I found PALS it was a life changing event. That 13 hour torture has turned into a 4 hour door to door. relief. All the people at PALS are just wonderful. The office staff, the auto pilots, the plane pilots and co pilots and the people that work at the airports that make me feel extra special have stolen a piece of my heart.

I've been flying with PAL'S for the past three years. I live in a small town in Maine. The doctor that specializes in my type of cancer practices at NYU Cancer Center in New York City. The twelve hour bus ride from Maine to NYC was more taxing on my body then the chemo therapy that I was given. PAL'S has arranged for flights for me from Bangor, Maine to Farmingdale, NY (2hours). Then a car ride (auto pilot) to NYU for my doctor appointment and chemo. And a return flight home. After the first couple of PAL'S flights my oncologist remarked on the way I was able to better handle the stress of the trip and the side affects of the chemo. Doctors and scientist can have the best treatments for the worst diseases. But if you can't get the patient to the therapy, what good is the therapy?
My life has been touched by the care & love this team shows to the families they help especially the girls & boys who fight the battles of Epidermolysis Bullosa & the many forms of Childhood Cancer. You all make a difference & help keep their smiles happening whether taking them to treatment or summer camp on Long Island. Thank you from deep in my heart.
What a tremendous service! Our daughter had major spinal surgery and a 7 hour car trip each way to the hospital for follow-up visits would have been torturous. Thanks to the dedicated and caring staff at PALS and the wonderful pilots who donate their time and aircraft, her travel time is much shorter and much more comfortable. PALS does great work and we greatly appreciate the pilots!
We are so appreciative for PALS. During such a difficult time, they arranged for my husband and I to fly to Boston for treatment. This is treatment not available any closer to us. We live 8-10 hours away by car and are senior citizens. We also live in the country and navigating in a city the size of Boston was very challenging. PALS made the whole process so much easier. We felt like we had been hugged by them. This is such a terrific service. I hope that someday we can give back to them and, in that way, relieve someone else's burden just a little bit.
Our 10 year old daughter has a Chiari Malformation and several co-conditions of Chiari. We struggled through diagnosis and surgery in Texas for 2 years before finally conceding that traveling to New York to see a top surgeon was our only answer to helping her. She is the youngest of four children, and in addition to her medical expenses, we have been hit by a flooded home, college tuition, and needed car repairs. PALS was a huge help to us in paying for the flight for our daughter and myself. They were efficient, compassionate, and flexible with our return flight because it was dependent on the outcome of medical care. We are so appreciative of their organization.
Our son is needing multiple surgeries at major children's hospitals around the nation. PALS has helped alleviate the stress of paying for multiple flights a year for his care away from home. The individuals who helped us set up our flight were very efficient and so friendly! Thank you PALS for helping make a stressful season of our life just a little easier!
Patient Airlift Services makes it possible to endure the frequent visits to Cincinnati's Specialty Clinic for Epidermolysis Bullosa from Scranton, PA. It takes 10 hours or more by car, and we make the trip every 3 months. We are so grateful to all of the fabulous volunteers and staff. They go out of their way to make everything as smooth as possible!
The leadership of this organization is flexible, smart and willing to partner and work with other agencies. I've always had a good experience. When I heard that they were willing to fly in nearly a dozen of my kids coping with cancer for our camping program, I was excited but also nervous. PALS eased my fears and created phenomenal memories for our campers. I'm proud to be able to work with such a terrific and needed organization. 5 stars indeed!
Pals was fantastic. The staff was extremely nice and great with acomadations. They were fantastic with the kids and reassured the parents of they're safety. You can not get any better then PALS.
Trusting a complete stranger to take your precious child on a flight in a small airplane can be a little bit frightening. PALS walked us through the process allaying any fears that we had. They answered all of our questions and confirmed flight information multiple times. The pilot and co-pilot were wonderful who eased our fears as parents when we turned over our son to them for the flight. Our son told us afterwards that they were very friendly and explained the airplane to him and answered any questions they had. They made the flight enjoyable for him. Yes, he flew alone.
I definitely recommend this organization and their volunteers to anyone who can benefit from their services.
I have been going to the Clevland Clinic in Ohio for 2 years now, this past year, have been there three times in 2 months. It was getting very costly for us, PALS came to my rescue and flew myself and my husband from Greenville Maine to Clevland Ohio and back!! Jim, the Pilot going too, and Arron and Mike the pilots coming home were all my angels this week! Thank you so very much! Many Blessing to everyone at PALS !! Without you, so many wouldn't make it to where they need to be..
I can't sat enough about pals & how they've helped my son. We need to fly from new york to Boston for his medical treatment & pals has been instrumental in that! The pilots along with all the staff are caring & compassionate, they make a very stressful time a little less trying.
Thank you will never do it justice... from the bottom of our hearts thank you & G-d bless
sincerely

A forever greatful mom!
My husband Tom has used Pals to get to his much needed appointments in Philadelphia..Pals goes above and Beyond to offer such a great service for people in need ..Myself and Tom have been blessed to have met the many pilots that have flown us for Toms cancer treatments..We feel Pals has had a part in Toms cancerfree diagnoses..Thank You Pals for all that you do..
I have been volunteering at Patient Airlift Services (PALS) for about 8 months. The patients and clients that utilize PALS services are often in crisis, and the staff is able to lend a helping hand to remove some of their burden. I have witnessed how professional and empathetic the staff is, they all truly care about every single patient that flies with them. They always go above and beyond to make things easier for the families they are assisting. The organization is able to remove the expensive barrier of transportation, that allows patients to access diagnostic testing, life saving surgeries, and cutting edge clinical trials that represent hope to patients dealing with life threatening illnesses. Patient Airlift Services is completely transparent in regards to their financials and they stretch every dollar donated. It is an organization that donors can feel comfortable contributing to, knowing their money is going exactly where they intended. As a volunteer, they have allowed me to work on projects that interest me and the staff has gone above and beyond to show their appreciation for my assistance. I highly recommend volunteering with PALS, becoming a donor or utilizing their services. It is an amazing organization providing a life saving service with a smile.
As a pilot of 45 years, flying patients for PALS is the best flying experience I've ever had. Having flown 40+ missions I truly know how fortunate I am to be able to excersize my privelages as command pilot to help others in need.
The most frustrating part is realizing that far too many people in need of our services don't know they exist. There's never a limit as to how many times a patient can fly with us and the is never any charge.
If you require medical treatment not available where you live Patient AirLift Services (PALS) may be able to help you. PALS is a fantastic, nonprofit organization that arranges FREE air and ground transportation for individuals, family members or care givers. PALS has helped me travel from my local airport to Weill Cornell Myeloma Clinic in New York City and back three (3) times to see a Myeloma Specialist not available in the local area. I try to give PALS a two or three week notice prior to my appointments. In two cases the Specialist at Weill Cornell provided critical information to my local Oncologist relative to my treatment, additional medications I should have and dosages of medications. On one trip I had my stem cells harvested. These visits to the Myeloma Specialist and hospital were critical to my care. PALS made this possible!
If you or a family member is in need of this kind of help give PALS a call. The volunteers there are very professional, helpful, pleasant to deal with, and most generous in giving of their time, effort, advice, and providing both FREE ground and air transportation. They have volunteers that make the travel arrangements. They have volunteer Pilots utilizing their own planes to fly you to your destination and in some cases volunteers using their own vehicles that will provide ground transportation to your hospital or Doctors office after your flight. It is quite amazing when you think of all the effort these people freely expend before, after, and during your trip in order to help you. These people have a passion for helping others; they are fantastic!
On my most recent flight (15 September 2015) I took the time to read a patient log book in the plane that was composed of messages to the pilots from people and their family members that these pilots had flown to medical appointments. I was amazed at the number of children (suffering from cancer and other life threatening diseases) and our wounded military veterans (requiring recovery and rehabilitation) these particular pilots had flown. The patient’s/family member’s writings were most compelling; they were all being helped by PALS to receive critical medical attention or critical medical procedures not available in their local area.
I understand PALS also arranges volunteer flights for family members of patients as compassionate missions, to ensure patients have support when they are away home for long periods.
Please check PALS out if you require medical attention not available in your local area; PALS is a fantastic nonprofit organization with a passion for helping people in need FREE of charge! Not only do you get to the medical attention you need; your travel expenses are mitigated!

This past August my children had a wonderful opportunity to travel to camp by the non-profit organization, PALS. Everyone we spoke to at PALS was phenomenal. Through this experience, our family met some wonderful pilots and caring support staff. They were very cautious with my children's needs and provided a once in a life time experience for my children. Seeing the smiles on their faces was wonderful. Thank you so much for what you do at PALS. The staff and volunteer pilots truly are angels helping children and adults arrive at their destinations. God bless you all and keep you safe.
Having had the pleasure of working with many of the same clients as Patient Airlift Services, I've seen firsthand just how impactful this service is to patients and caregivers who must travel for medical treatment. Many families spend hours in the car, traveling between home and the hospital, because they don't want to feel isolated from family and friends for weeks on end while receiving medical treatment. PALS helps their clients turn a long stressful journey into a fun, quick trip that they'll remember fondly. The service allows patients stay connected with their home life and helps to save money that caregivers are able to use on bills and medical expenses. We hear nothing but great feedback from our clients about their experiences with PALS. The entire journey, from scheduling flights, getting to and from the airport, and the flight itself, is perfectly planned by PALS staff and pilots to make sure clients have an enjoyable stress-free trip. I'm proud to recommend this organization to the clients who stay with my organization.
Safe, caring, and dedicated. PALS flew me out to NYC to see a specialist regarding a rare genetic syndrome (Li-Fraumeni) I have since doctors in Buffalo have not dealt with it before. After getting a recommended treatment plan, PALS flew me out to Boston for a consultation regarding that type of treatment (proton therapy). I am so thankful for the members of this organization who take the time to help others in need. All of the pilots made me feel safe, talked to me and gave me the guided tour while we flew. They made me feel famous or something being able to have my own plane! It is nice to get excited and forget about your current problems, even for a short while. Thank you all for what you do, it goes such a long way!
Volunteering for Patient Airlift Services as a pilot is quite the rewarding experience. There is nothing more rewarding than being able to fly a child to and/or from the treatment that is helping save their life. Not only does PALS do medical flights but they also contribute in doing compassion flights for events such as camps. These flights provide an opportunity that many of these patients did not have originally. With PALS, a patient can go out and choose the place in which they would prefer treatment. This allows the patient to get treatment where they want to instead of where they need to, opening a realm of possibilities. Without PALS most of these patients wouldn't have the chance to do so. PALS slogan is 'Changing lives, one flight at a time' although in some cases they are saving lives one life at a time.
I am a cancer patient (I like to consider myself a "survivor") who has recently been admitted to a clinical trial in Boston. The commitment to participate means traveling to Dana Farber every other week for tests and infusions. I live in rural Maine and have serious back issues so the long car ride (5+ hours one way) was problematic. Being able to get in to and out of Boston in one day was encouraging and made my being able to participate in the trial possible. The service PALS provides is exceptional. Jim Platz and Annie B. are wonderful people who are extraordinarily generous with their time, enthusiasm and services. PALS helps ease the logistical nightmare of having to plan appointments so far away and makes my being able to participate in this trial possible. I give my heartfelt thanks to Jim and Annie. I would encourage anyone faced with complicated medical issues to consider PALS if they need help with transportation.
My daughter in law was diagnosed with Stage 3 Brain Cancer that was inoperable. They decided to go for a second opinion to MD Anderson in Texas. PALS was able to arrange transportation via Southwest Airlines and got them there quickly. She has since undergone a 9 hour surgery which removed about 90% of this "Inoperable" tumor!!! I will never be able to say Thank You enough to PALS for making this happen. My daughter in law, my son, and their Four Young Children all Thank You. This SAVED HER LIFE!!!! Thank You, from the bottom of our hearts!!!
I have attended many of the fundraising events for PALS and have donated to same. These events have always been very professional and they show exactly where the funds are going. I feel very strong that this is an organization who will utilize my donation for the good of those who need it. I find it very important to know that organizations I choose to donate to are transparent and this is very evident at their events.
This is a much needed non profit that needs to be supported and embraced. I am a family that could not and would not of been able to get my child a life altering surgery. The professionalism and execution of the flights was absolutely stellar. PALS is amazing and truly empathetic. Kudos to all those involved. It takes a village to raise a child and meet their needs. So glad PALS is part of out village. Rock in and keep blessing families.
I would like to graciously thank PALS (Patient Airlift Services) for their prompt and courteous service in arranging for me to get to my appointment to see a doctor for a 2nd opinion prior to my surgery. I am overwhelmed with my diagnosis and upcoming surgery, so it was comforting to have PALS secure the pilots and arrangements in getting me there. Where it not for PALS, I do not know how my making it to that appointment would have been possible.
I would also like to acknowledge and also extend my gratefulness to pilots Andrew King and Joe Sandberg for their expertise and professionalism in getting me to and from New Jersey and Virginia. Not having flown in over 30 years, they were both comforting and hilariously funny which truly made me feel safe and secure during my flight.
Again, thank you to everyone. After my surgery and recovery, my experience has made me also want to volunteer my services for such worthy causes.
PALS has been an enormous help. Everyone involved has been super nice and helpful. Without them, I don't see how I would realistically be able to receive the treatment I need from the professionals in Boston. PALS has restored my faith in humanity.
Thank you for making my life much easier for my trips to the LVAD clinic at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. I no longer have to make arraignment for childcare for the two kids my wife and I are raising,or pull them out of school for a thirteen of fourteen hour day trip. thank you soo much for what you do!
My wife has had an amazing experience with Pals. Not having to travel by car to Boston 8 hours away has been a huge relief both financially and with her health. We are so very grateful for this service. The people have been so wonderful. It is a true blessing!
So I'm waiting in the airport, when another pilot says to his friend, "I'm
going to head over to Martha's Vineyard for lunch." I thought, "How nice it must be, to own your own plane!" You really have the choice to do whatever you would like to do, within reason of course. But those here at PALS use their good fortune to help others! And even those that aren't pilots, volunteer their time in order to help fellow man! So I would like to give a Big Thank You to everyone involved with this organization! Not just from me, but from all of mankind for being such a Great person!
I am a Board Member for PALS because PALS reflects the best elements of human nature by using the skills & resources of volunteer pilots to make travel to a destination for medical treatment either possible, or much less challenging than it would otherwise be for patients and their families.
Also, in a partnership with Major League Baseball, the PALS pilots transport U.S. military personnel, who are recuperating from their injuries at Walter Reed Medical Center, to MLB games throughout the season, to provide them with a much-deserved break from their difficult recoveries.
I have personally seen the impact that PALS has on the people that they fly. The best way to describe the impact that PALS has on its passengers is that it is extraordinarily meaningful to all of them. I am so proud to be associated with such a generous and caring group of people
I am an "auto pilot" volunteer for PALS (Patient Air Lift Services) and find that it is the most rewarding time I have spent giving back to the community. It is my pleasure to pick up patients from the local airport and drive them to and from their hospital/destination. Many of these folks are receiving excellent treatment and care in facilities that would otherwise be impossible for them to get to. You MUST take the time to find out more about PALS and I beleive you will be motivated to enlist your services. They are the most compasionate group of people you will come across. Sincerely making a difference in so many lives.
This is an amazing svc !! I can never describe this great svc and to me this people are simply god's angels !! The team, Amanda, Karen, Eileen and Sherlyn are just born to perfectly kind hearted souls !!
Very efficient, effective and marvelous humbleness !
We had to travel 26hrs to US and everything is just arranged so terrific by this team !!
Next is the pilots .. omg more than fatherly thoughtfulness .. care and importantly the wonderful heart to fetch and send us to the airports .... I mean, if ever I can do something for them, these people are priorities in my live !!
Heavenly god thanks a million for giving such angels to this world !
I cannot say enough wonderful things about the PALS staff and pilots. One person more amazing than another. They are kind people who dedicate their talent and passion to helping people like my son, John Hudson by getting them to their MD's and hospitals with ease and with a smile. Traveling has always been such a burden for us, physcially, emotionally and economically. PALS has eliminated those burdens for us and replaced them with the relief of knowing that getting to the doctor will be the easiest part of our day. John HUdson now looks forward to his trips to Cincinnati Children's Hospital, if only so that he can see his favorite pilot Joe, forget about his disease for a few hours, and be kind of the world flying in a beautiful private plane. How can you put a price on that?
Our 13 year old son, Nicholas was diagnosed with epilepsy a couple of years ago. We live in Northern Maine and he is being treated at Children's Hospital in Boston. His frequent trips to Boston have been made possible by PALS. Pilots Jim Platz and Annie Beaulieu are true blessings. They donate an incredible amount of their time and the use of Jim's own plane to this region making it possible for us to bring Nicholas to Children's sometimes as often as once a month. The PALS office goes the extra mile to do all they can to make the logistics work out, like we are the most important clients they have (and we are only one of many). I don't know what we would have done without PALS. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
John, Teri, and Nicholas Krause
Hi. My name is Robert Hinton. I am 39 and am a disabled firefighter/emt. I have been sick with a rare disease called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy(RSD) since 2005 . It is a disease which causes my nervous system to attack itself, causing my body to feel like it's being burned by fire. Since it's so rare my closest treatment location is Philadelphia. I live in Rhode Island which makes travel except by air impossible. Patient Airlift Services (PALS), has been there to help me over and over flying me and sometimes my family over 25 times for treatment since 2010 and continue. The pilot's and staff have become part of my family, always being there with love and support. I can't express in words what this organization means to me. Love, Love ...Love that's what they provide to me every time I call. Being sick is difficult enough for me knowing that Patient Airlift Services is there is my miracle from heaven.
My 10 year old son and I flew to Boston several times via Patient Airlift Services and the pilots, Jim Platz and Annie Beaulieu, are remarkable people! Not only because of what their role is but for their personable attitudes. We are going to be forever grateful for these services and they are Angel's for what they are doing to provide for humanitarian needs during times of turmoil and uncertainty. These services alleviate the logistical nightmares that occur when trying to get to appointments in an expeditious manner! My son received the necessary and critical testing which discovered that he has Ewing's Sarcoma and he is now undergoing treatment locally but will need to return to Boston for radiation and we will definately not hesitate to contact PALS again! Thank You from the bottom of our hearts and may God Bless you for all you do! And one more thing, I did not expect to receive money for cab fares but this is also part of the services provided! Love, Peggy and Zach
PALS has flown me and my wife 5-6 times to Boston for cardiac care. They have been an essential part in saving my life at least once and giving me an opportunity to have world class treatment. It is humbling to have some one go out of their way and pay all expenses to get me this care. Often my wife and I fly home over America to our Adirondacks in tears thinking that plane owners, pilots and PALS have put out so much just for me and my family. In this age of selfishness PALS is flying against the wind and we're all better off because of this organization.
What a great organization!! They have been absolutely wonderful and accommodating in every way. My daughter has a very rare syndrome and needs to see specialists in Chicago (we are in NY)2-3 times a year and flying commercially with all of her medical equipment (ventilator, oxygen, and monitoring equipment) is an absolute nightmare. PALS makes the trip so much easier for us in every way. Cannot say enough great things about the organization.
My wife doesn't tolerate long car rides very well due to the medical problems with her neck and spine. We found PALS Boucher while in New York for an appointment at the Chiari Institute. We contacted PALS before our next visit to the Chiari Institutue. The office staff were very curtious and dedicated to making sure we had a flight and ground transportation to our destination. The pilots and ground transport people all made us feel like we were part of the family. Joe Howley, one of the co-founders of PALS was the first pilot we encountered for our first flight. He got us there on a rainy cloudy day and with no issues. These volunteers at PALS are ALL Angels in disguise. They are a Blessing from God!!! We recommend this Organization to anyone we needs long distance transportation for procedures or medical appointments.
I have the opportunity of seeing the amazing efforts of a dedicated and knowledgeable staff. I volunteer a few hours a week at PALS. Eileen Minogue as well as all the coordinators have their hearts on their mission, which is to help people in need. I have met some of the pilots and saw first hand that they also have their hearts and wisdom in the right place. Bless them all.
My son Peter DeGennaro, was PALS first patient, I cannot express enough how compassionate and giving this organization is. they flew my son from Maine to Boston for treatments, Peter had Leukemia, public transportation was out of the question, and the trip by car was to exhausting for him. unfortunately, Peter lost his battle at age 27. Peter had a transplant and it failed. We got a call that u have 2 to 3 weeks to live. Peter started a bucket list, one of his things was to see his grandfather in NJ, unfortunately he couldn't make the trip here, so PALS stepped up and did a compassion flight and flew my son and his family to NJ. Pete died 3 days later, but thanks to PALS , he fulfilled his bucket list. I will forever be grateful to PALS for the last smiles I saw on my sons face. Thank you
That there is even such a thing as a private flight for families with little means for travel when loved ones are ill and seeking treatment in far-away medical centers is in itself a blessing and Godsend. But PALS far exceeds expectations in quality of flight, courtesy, kindness, empathy, and sheer work ethic in getting you where you have to go WHEN you have to go. You are never treated like a charity case with PALS. From the first person you speak to to arrange a flight (for me that was Karen, and she is wonderful), to the pilot himself (we had a few, but Joe Howley definitely stands out and served us most often), to the beautiful planes, we had nothing but stellar service and endearing commitment to the family. We are forever indebted to this incredibly charitable organization. I cannot say enough about PALS. Thank you for all you do.
Warmly,
Aunt Sara to Easton, Blake, Carter, and Logan :o)
PALS is a wonderful organization that assist patients in getting to treatment facilities through volunteer pilots. I have had the opportunity to see first hand the amazing work they do. The pilots are exemplary and very giving of their time and resources and the staff who coordinate the flights are caring and gracious. This is exactly the type of organization that needs funding so those who can should donate their time or their money. It is professionally run by a highly qualified executive director and knowledgable and dedicated staff coordinators. I have volunteered on a number of occasions and found it to be a most rewarding experience and I would encourage others to get involved in this wonderful organization.
