Mission: The Partnership for Jewish Life (PJL) was incorporated in August 1996 to create a cultural and educational center in New York City that would reach out to Jewish New Yorkers in their 20s and 30s who do not normally frequent Jewish institutions. PJL hopes to give young people opportunities for Jewish exploration, artistic expression, and personal connection in a pluralistic atmosphere. In October 1999, PJL opened the new center, MAKOR, at 35 West 67th Street.
