Pgs staff conducted outreach to policymakers and the media; built new coalitions with nongovernmental nuclear experts from around the globe; and convened workshops around the world to generate new, innovative policy proposals. Pgs also published reports, articles, and commentary on the nuclear security summit (nss) process, budget trends for u. S. Nonproliferation programs, and other nuclear security issues. Pgs established the nuclear security governance experts group (nsgeg). The nsgeg brings together 22 experts from 11 countries from around the world with broad nuclear security experience. Its goal is to define a long-term vision of the global nuclear security regime and to recommend, and build support for, the short- and medium-term actions that will enable achievement of long-term goals. Pgs co-hosted a series of events and meeting in vienna, austria on behalf of the nsgeg and fissile materials working group (fmwg) to prepare for the 2014 nuclear knowledge summit. Pgs worked extensively with its partners in the fissile materials working group (fmwg). Pgs' president has served as co-chair of the fmwg since 2009. With its fmwg and nsgeg partners, pgs has taken the lessons-learned from the 2012 nss to develop new strategies for influencing the 2014 nss which will take place in the netherlands. Pgs began preparation work for the 2014 nuclear knowledge summit in 2014 and collaborated closely with dutch civil society in the organization of this event. Pgs monitored and analyzed the fiscal year 2014 budget request and congressional committee action on funding for nuclear security programs. It also published its annual accomplishments report of u. S. Government nonproliferation programs within the departments of defense, energy, and state. Pgs continues to provide timely information about nuclear energy, security, and cooperation related events through its twice-weekly electronic newsletter "nuclear news. " pgs continued to work to improve its online presence and public outreach efforts. During this period, pgs also developed a new website which was launched in spring 2013. These efforts helped pgs better communicate its message and directly connect more regularly with members of the public, media, and expert community.
