Causes: Administration of Justice, Crime & Law, Dispute Resolution & Mediation
Mission: Partners in restorative initiatives, located in western new york, works with schools, courts and communities to instill restorative practices through education, advocacy, training and facilitation.
Programs: Partners in restorative initiatives provides advocacy, presentations, training, and facilitation throughout the greater rochester area. Active volunteers serve on our board of directors, the advisory committee, and several working committees. Volunteers also serve as certified trainers and facilitators for peace circles, academic circles, and restorative discipline conferences in schools as well as community conferencing for wrongdoing in the community. Continued on schedule owe are integrally involved with the rochester city school district, the rochester police department, and monroe county probation to bring a restorative approach to juvenile diversion programs. We are actively involved in the community task force on school climate's professional development committee. Our funding sources include individual donors, faith communities, foundations, and contracts with local school districts. During 2017 piri served 1,904 people which includes all training, overview (to schools and administrators), and library talking circles. These events occurred on forty seven days. During 2017 piri held sixty five events which included: twelve, one day trainings; four, two day restorative discipline trainings; nine academic circle trainings; twenty restorative practice overviews; sixteen, three day community building/peace circle trainings; two, three day hybrid trainings; one annual meeting; and one open house. Additionally, piri published six newsletters and had four e-mail blasts.
