Causes: International, International Development, International Human Rights, International Migration & Refugee Issues
Mission: Partners Asia envisions a world where all people have the social, political and economic power to survive and thrive. Our mission is to enhance human dignity, equity and well-being for marginalized and disenfranchised populations in South East Asia and beyond. We achieve our mission through long-term, strategic partnerships, nurturing solidarity between local partners and global allies so that together we can leave a legacy of lasting, systemic change.
Results: Since establishment in 2012, Partners Asia has distributed almost $16.5 million through over 750 grants to local partners, who in turn have served over 6.6 million people. Most of these people come from invisible populations such as refugees, undocumented migrants, ethnic minorities, and LGBTQI communities, very often unseen or overlooked by government support and traditional development initiatives. Through this approach of building bottom-up change from local to global, local partners have the ability to implement transformative, far-reaching intersectional programs addressing issues such as gender and climate justice, cross-border peace initiatives, ethnic and minority education, human rights, financial inclusion and SHRH programs.
Target demographics: local leaders who work to serve the needs of “invisible” populations—refugees, migrants, ethnic minorities, LGBTQI,—living primarily along the Thailand-Myanmar border
Direct beneficiaries per year: 75 locally led organizations and initiatives, providing over $3.3MM in flexible funding and partnership support

| Responsive Grants
We connect local organizations to global funding.
Our grants range from $1,000-100,000K, and each relationship is fitted with technical support to see our partners meet their maximum potential. Each year, we disburse approximately 85 grants, and 80% are less than $20,000.

In addition to granting, we offer leadership support to all our partners.
This can be skill-building around planning or monitoring and evaluation. Or improving financial literacy and managing resources.
It can be making connections to other colleagues or larger networks. Or simply being there as a mentor as they take a step back and reflect on their work.
