Causes: Health, Nursing Facilities, Seniors
Mission: The mission of parkside meadows, a not-for-profit, christian retirement community, is to provide an affordable, high quality living environment to the senior population. Parkside's emphasis is to maintain the highest level of independence within all levels of care by offering programs and services, which support the social, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of each individual within a supportive, christian community.
Programs: Skilled nursing facility - for 2013 our client mix was: private - 36%; medicare - 22%; medicaid - 40%, managed care - 2%. This compares to the following mix for 2012: private - 59%; medicare - 12%; medicaid - 26%, managed care - 3%. We are partnering with ssm homeward bound for our therapy services. We have managed care contracts with anthem, coventry, humana, aetna and others. Our health center is a four-star facility. We are committed to providing care to a substantial percentage of the elderly population on medicaid. We utilize electronic health records and a wireless call system. This allows our staff to continue to provide timely response to resident needs.
residential care facility - we feel this service may benefit from a proposed change of licensure from rcf ii to assisted living to allow residents to age in place longer before transitioning to skilled care. Utilization of this space has decreased between 2012 and 2013 while some of the units are prepared for conversion to assisted living memory care.
independent living apartments - occupancy here has remained steady at 43% from 12/12 to 12/13. We have seen the elderly population here experience health problems that have necessitated transfer to higher acuity care. Nearly all relinquishments, unless it is for reason of death, result in a transfer to a higher level of care within our continuum. Alternate use for some of this space is being evaluated.
