Programs: Advocacy: We directly advocate for proper park policy and funding. We also bring citizen voices to the decision-making table through The Park People Action Network.Friends Group Initiative: Since 2004, we have helped initiate over 20 new Friends Groups for individual parks, now totaling over 39, which advocate for area parks and work to improve their parksThe Park Market: Since 1982, we have operated the Park Market allowing individuals to donate enhancements, such as trees and benches for parks of their choice.Weed Out: Since 1996, Weed-Out volunteers, in cooperation with the Milwaukee County Park System and the park employees? union, AFSCME Local 882, have been removing invasive weeks from high quality natural areas in the parks.Sale of O?Donnell Park Bricks: In cooperation with Milwaukee County. The Park People has sold and installed personalized bricks to raise funds for park enhancements at O?Donnell Park.
