Mission: Professionally interpret park city and regional western history through engaging exhibitions and educational programs; research, record, preserve, and disseminate park city history; promote and advocate for the preservation of park city's important history and historic sites.
Programs: Museum: almost 130,000 visitors came to the park city museum. The tozer gallery hosted three nationally traveling exhibitions from the national endowment for the humanities, smithsonia institutiaon and nrg exhibits company. More than 2,000 local public and private school students, youth groups and after school programs participated in free field trips and more than 2,354 local adults attended free lectures, tours, and presentations held in association with the museum exhibits. 1,594 visitors explored the park city museum during six "free admission days" held throughout 2017. Preservation: the park city historical society holds an extensive collection of historic objects, papers and photographs. 500 genealogists, historic property owners, planners, architects, scholars, journalists and students requested research from the hal compton research library located at the park city museum in 2017. More than 400 locals and visitors joined us for the 2017 annual historic home tour to learn more about historic preservation of park city's historic neighborhoods and 953 participated in a guided tour of historic main street and efforts to preserve the historic commercial district. The park city historical society owns the historic glenwood cemetery and allocates resources to ensure its preservation for future generations to explore and enjoy. Dedicated to the stabilization and preservation of the last remaining historic mining structures located on the mountains surrounding park city, in 2017 we completed the stabiliation of the historic king con counterweight and the historic california comstock mill.
