Programs: Parisi house on the hill, inc. (photh) focuses on the specific needs of women, pregnant women, and women with children aged newborn through five years of age, targeting the developmental and dually diagnosed needs of clients in recovery and their children. Photh, originally established in 1994 as "house on the hill and renamed in 2011 thanks to special contributors joe parisi and john sobrato, is santa clara county's first mother and child residential alcohol and drug treatment facility, allowing mothers to focus on their six-month treatment program without the emotional distress caused when separated from their children. Photh provided living facilities to 20 mothers and 22 children who have made the choice to end the cycle of substance abuse. During the year ended june 30, 2017, photh instituted an aftercare program for former clients. The number of participants has since tripled since its inception. During the year ended june 30, 2017, photh became a registered agency with the santa clara county office of supportive housing, and as a result, photh's homeless clients are assessed and placed in the community queue for permanent housing programs, including permanent supporting housing. Photh was featured in a video produced by first 5 santa clara county on the topic of perinatal substance exposure. Photh is client-directed, family-oriented and culturally sensitive, and cultural competency is a practice that is continually monitored by supervisors and directors; staff receive cultural competency training every year. Photh has a partnership with santa clara county to provide in-person translation services on an as-needed basis. During the year ended june 30, 2010, adoption and translation of "celebrating families! " curriculum for spanish-speaking families was completed. "celebrating families! " is offered to all outside family members who will be part of a client's support circle when they complete the program. Photh's staff is internally certified by the santa clara county's substance use treatment systems (suts). In an effort to hire and retain qualified staff, photh provides a full spectrum of benefits packages including medical and dental, vision plans, paid time off, paid holidays, a 401(k), and open-door communication with all management at all levels. All counselors are cadc-accredited (certified alcohol and drug counselor), and the clinical supervisor is laadc-accredited (licensed advanced alcohol and drug counselor). The photh residential facility is certified by the california state department of health care services, and the santa clara county department of alcohol and drug services. The facility is also compliant with the hipaa (health insurance portability and accountability act). Photh maintains a compliance policy prescribing human resource policies and defining ethical behavior expected from all staff. Monitoring of this policy is performed on a continuing basis by the photh management team.
