I feel so blessed to in partnership with PSP and their amazing staff. We at Congregation Rodef Sholom are consistently impressed with all of the rich work they do strengthening families and community here in San Rafael. I look forward to many years of every-deepening work together.
As a new Board Member of PSP, I am alread extremely impressed with the commitment, passion, creativity and work ethic exhibited by the staff and veteran Board members. Before joining the Board, I had the wonderful oppportunity to experience the Executive Director, Jenny Ocon, in action as a co-leader of the California Strengthening Families Roundtable Parent Engagement workgroup. While considering Board membership, I had the chance to talk with those associated with the organization and to read their strategic plan and other relevant information. I must way that at every turn, I was impressed by the consistent message of providing high quality, best practice, culturally relevant, community informed services and supports to the families in Marin County. As someone whose mission is to focus on early childhood, I am very interested in and impressed by the PreK-3 Services strand. We all know how imporant the first 5 years of a child's life are, and PSP is working to support the important of parent-child attachment and quality early childhood education experiences by building strong learning connections through family engagement, in partnership with local early childhood programs and schools.
There are so many reasons to support this worthy organization and Iook forward to my years of being associated with its mission and work!
Parent Services Project has as its central focus strengthening families by fostering critical partnerships to engage family leaders in workshops, trainings and numerous programs consistent with its core values to "transform the relationships between families and practitioners, raise leadership among families, invite all members of the community to the table, build cohorts of practitioners who are passionate about applying family support principles in their work and [to] expand [ its] impact by continuous assessment and the dissemination of best practices to influence systems and policies."
Having worked for Parent Services Project to bring an early literacy program to families in Marin County, I have had a chance to see their phenomenal programs up close, while being mentored by some of the best nonprofit leaders in the field. PSP's work to elevate parents' voices beginning in early childhood and seeing this all the way through high school has had tremendous impact on families, schools, communities and systems not just in Marin, but all over the country. Working with parents to see themselves as their children's first and most important teacher is no small task, and PSP has stepped up time and time again to create a sea of parent leaders who advocate for their children, their schools and their communities.
Parent Services Project is a unique agency with amazing staying power! Their work over 20+ years has helped early childhood center and K-12 leaders, staff and parents to create wonderful learning environments for thousands of families with young children locally and nationally. They have managed to keep going in financially challenging times and to be responsive to changing community needs. As a former grant-maker and more recently, as a PSP Board member, I've had the pleasure of working with the staff and am impressed by Executive Director Jenny Ocon's creativity and inclusive leadership style.
Parent Services Project is a stellar community-based, non profit organization! Over the past ten years, they have partnered with us to support the family engagement efforts throughout our thirteen metro communities. Through the Vision and Voice Family Leadershp Institute, we have seen a visible increase in parent leadership within the systems and communities we serve. They are a true partner agency and thought leader in the field!
Parent Services Project is an awesome organization of whom I was given the opportunity to sit in on a Parent Leadership Workshop. I was so moved by the professionalism and knowledge of their dedicated staff in engaging parents to become leaders and be actively involved in what goes on in their child/children's schools. All too often we hear about all the problems going on in the schools and no one wants to get involved. The workshop taught us how to come together as parents and become apart of the solution. I was so impressed how all of the parents took and active role in the workshop. Parent Services Project is such an asset to this community. I fully support their efforts and suggest that everyone support them in continuing their mission to serve and assist parents of our community!
Parent Services Project is a community-based non-profit that gets results. The programs and services offered are helping families and children stay afloat and thrive in these challenging economic times. They help families navigate the challenges that confront them daily (in their neighborhoods, schools and homes). It is a well organized and dedicated to the mission of engaging and strengthening families to take leadership for the well-being of their children, families, and communities.
The PSP vision sees families as leaders in their children’s programs, schools and communities, where they are part of building equitable partnerships based on mutual respect. Families’ engagement and leadership creates social change and equity for all, and as a result, all children develop to their fullest potential surrounded by a caring community.
The PSP Tagline: "Families lead, kids succeed."
As a Board Member for 6 years, I have seen the sustained high-quality work being done by this small non-profit organization. I am very proud to be affiliated with them.
I have been partnering with PSP for more than 10 years now. This is an excellent organization who truly cares about the community and families it serves, way and above the numbers that show on a report. The ED, Jenny Ocon and her staff do an amazing job finding the needs of the community and families and then finding ways to address their needs. In an economy that is short on resources and big on struggling families, PSP is working to make this county a better place.
My experiences with PSP have been positive, even when the situations I've referred to them have been difficult. All the PSP staff that I have been in contact with have been professional but what I've been most impressed with have been the organization's unwavering commitment to the population we both serve.
As the higher education partner with PSP, we value the comprehensive support and empowerment that this organization provides for families in our community. Parent leadership meetings provide a systematic skillset for parents that enables them to support their students through middle/high school by setting high expectations and providing support. At the same time, the parents become a learning community that is sustained beyond the program, and they continue to support not only their respective children, but each other. The college-bound process can be overwhelming, but graduates of the PSP program are armed with actionable information, strategies, and resources that make a difference for their families and their communities.
I am a Profesor of Nursing at the University of San Francisco who supervises nursing students who work at Parent Services Project. I have been so impressed with Florencia Parada and the rest of staff at Parent Services Project. Florencia is very dedicated to engaging and supporting families to become leaders in their community in order to promote the health and well-being of their children, families and community. She is helping to improve the health and well-being of everyone, one family at a time.
Having worked with PSP as a partner organization, I am most impressed with the integrity that they have in working with families. They have the ability to work with both parents & schools in a way that brings both communities as one entire community.
As a site principal in the San Rafael City School District I have been fortunate to work with PSP for the past 8 years. Parent Service Project has done an amazing job training parents from our schools to be school leaders. They build the capacity of family members so that they can then go out and increase the capacity of other new parents within the school community.
Parents who have gone through their institutes return to school campuses with the confidence to not only be a part of school committees, but to also lead and to take charge. Currently our district is working with PSP to increase our family engagement and have worked with the agency to change board policy and to run the quarterly meetings.
