Mission: To improve the quality of life of u. S. Military veterans and all who have experienced spinal cord injury/dysfunction through advocacy for proper health care, promotion of sports, education, and communication.
Programs: Prosthetics: the chapter picked up and delivered dme from donations across the state. These were distributed to veterans, civilian individuals, and other non- profits for low income individuals. We also received and disbursed a large amount of medical supplies. We added multiple new agencies to our resource list including the society of st. Vincent de paul, umom, drive by blessings, and southern arizona disabled sports. These efforts were made possible by a generous grant from the christopher and dana reeve foundation and state va grants.
education, training and outreach: sponsor of educational research and training opportunities for medical research on spinal cord injuries. The chapter provided direct sponsorship to the womans veterans booth at stand down at the phoenix fairgrounds. Over 175 veterans were helped. We provided over 500 hours of volunteer hours at various community events such as the veterans booth at the state fair.
sports & recreation: direct sponsorship of wheelchair team sports, grants for organizations that provide recreational activities, and hosting national and international sporting competitions. Provided sponsorship assistance to over 75 disabled athletes. Located and assisted new veterans with re-integration into society through local sports and national veterans wheelchair games.
