I found COLONTOWN (a PALTOWN program) back in 2019, after being diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer at age 36. Up until that moment, I was ruled by panic and fear and confusion. COLONTOWN provided education that empowered me as a patient, support to navigate the emotional toll of cancer diagnosis/treatment, and hope that there were still good things to come.
A year later, I participated in another program offered by PALTOWN: Empowered Patient Leaders (EPL.) I came away from that workshop with a greater depth of disease education and support group leadership skills. As a volunteer EPL, I now host groups in COLONTOWN and have found a lot of purpose in my disease through that work.
I sincerely believe I owe my life and the quality of that life to PALTOWN and its programs.
