The owner of Palmetto Paws feels that helping animals gives her a pass to be disrespectful and unkind to the humans involved. She posted that she desperately needed fosters, so I volunteered. She handed me a puppy without asking me to fill out an application or provide any background information. I adjusted my work schedule and made sure she made it to her vet appt. Bringing in a puppy temporarily isn't simple! When I informed her that my parents would like to apply, she said that they would need to apply, which I accepted and understood. She told me that they would need to apply when she became available and she would not take any applications before then. A few days later she listed the puppy as for adoption without letting me know. I was told we would discuss how she was doing in my home before becoming available and she knew my parents lived on my street and were interested. She then said that there were other applicants in front of them and refused to give me any feedback as to why they wouldn't be considered. They were more than qualified. I did ask in a professional manner if foster families were given a survey to share their experience. I am going to certainly foster for someone else and thought she may want to know the reasons why. She quickly told me she didn't really care about feedback. If people don't like her, they won't foster any more...fine with her. I also run a non-profit and can't imagine not considering feedback from the people in the community involved with my organization. Again, she is simply rude and unprofessional. I have never been treated so poorly/talked to so rudely by someone I was volunteering my time and resources for. I would not engage with Palmetto Paws.
Helped us find the right dog for our family even though it wasn't one of the ones they had available. Very impressed with the selection process and determination to get the dogs into great homes, not just any home.
These are some of the most passionate people I’ve ever met! This was our first rescue from an organization and they go above and beyond for their animals. The situations some animals have come from are horrifying. I believe they operate in the spirit to make sure all the DOGS AND PUPS are getting into a better, loving and permanent situation. An older rescue might come with some baggage, and they were very helpful to give you the resources you might need. Realize that adoption may require an adjustment period for you both. I think the folks at Palmetto Paws Animal Rescue have hearts of gold-I’ve seen it firsthand!
Don’t be fooled by their gimmicks. They make you fill out an extremely long application that is tedious and then they don’t even bother to read it. They’ll pick your words apart and try to find any excuse not to allow you to adopt any precious pup. Completely disappointed and will never give them my business.
