I am SO glad i came across Paddle for Peace. I was planning a solo trip to San Diego for August 2024 and looking to cross off a new skill on my bucket list: surfing! I found a Tiktok that showed Paddle for Peace's mission and instantly knew that that is where i needed to be. As a Black woman who is apprehensive about traveling alone, my instructor, Nikita, was so kind and patient with me (she even gave me food recommendations in the area!) I would 100% do it again :) xoxo
What a passionate, inclusive, and thoughtful group of folks! I had a beautiful experience volunteering last summer and look forward to sharing my time again in the future. They put a lot of work into building community and making these programs accessible and sustaining. So grateful to have them on our beaches and in our communities! I can't wait to bring my daughter to an event in the future.
P4P has brought me so much joy. As a volunteer, I have loved getting to know amazing people who care about each other, the community and the ocean. I am so proud to be a part of this amazing group. I can’t wait to keep sharing the joy of the ocean and building community!
Time and time again I am impressed with the vision and execution that Paddle for Peace displays with their work. I have watched Paddle for Peace blossom since the very beginning, and let me tell you, there is no slowing down. They have created a community where everyone feels connected, voices are being heard! At the events, the BIPOC community is celebrated and supported. I am so grateful and PROUD to be apart of an organization that is literally changing lives. I cannot wait to see what is to come.
Paddle for Peace helped me find community when I needed it most. This organization has brought San Diegans together in so many impactful ways, to build better relationships, to teach respect and care for the ocean and each other, and to spread resources throughout the BIPOC community.
Paddle for peace is a movement. In coastal towns, the beach and the waves have not always been open to all. The image of who a “surfer” is has been narrow. Paddle for peace encourages having fun in the waves, bringing joy to surfing and beach leisure, especially for communities of color who have not always felt welcome in these spaces. At paddle for peace events, the BIPOC community is celebrated, and all are welcome to join in on the celebration. They hold raffles to win surfboards, wetsuits and skateboards and it’s so beautiful to see them land in the hands of kids who may not be able to afford these things otherwise.
The momentum, energy & community presence is awesome. The volunteers were helpful & informative. I felt welcomed & appreciated. Before connecting with Paddle for Peace, I heard positive feedback about them. Now, that I’ve connected with them, I’ve experienced that positivity first hand. A Fantastic group of individuals working toward a common goal and amazing cause.
