Mission: The mission of Pack Place is 'to provide opportunities where the arts, education and entertainment meet and thrive, to enrich the life of the community'. We fulfill our mission by providing a supporting facility in a desirable location, operational infrastructure and program support to our Partner Organizations. Located in the heart of downtown Asheville, NC, our bustling complex supports the Asheville Art Museum, Colburn Earth Science Museum, Diana Wortham Theatre and the Health Adventure, with the YMI Cultural Center located a block away. Pack Place had over 46,800 children attend programs offered by Pack Place Partners in our first year of operation alone. Just a hint of our organization's successes to come is the drastic increase in attendance since that time. The number served has increased to over 330,237 in 2001 and those impacted by in-house and outreach programs offered by our Partners are in exess of 500,000 for 2006. These numbers have continued to grow as we have been able to facilitate the Plan of Agreement between Pack Place and its Partners. Through our Partners, Pack Place is able to nurture the diverse cultural, arts, entertainment and science education needs in Western North Carolina.
