Along with the Institute for Justice, these guys are doing what I would do myself if I was rich and had the time. I've watched over the years as they ran interference for ALL OF US as they battle outrageous property rights violations and regulatory overstepping. I make it a point to donate at least yearly
I have made a small donation...because of PLF case in defending a small landlord and his tenants against the 2017 city of Highland rental code enforcement gone crazy...as the City of Ontario code enforcement is currently trying to kill my 85 year old mother with a heart attack for her 2 rental units.....on code enforcement gone crazy.....is it back to the old saying "you can't fight city hall??"
Pacific Legal Foundation would not help me with my legal problem. They could of helped, but they didn't want to. I appealed the intake clerk's decision not to help me, and the President and CEO, Robin L. Rivett, returned my call and said he's not helping me. They don't care about the indigent people who can't afford an attorney. They keep all the grant money for themselves. They wouldn't help me. I just needed one appeal letter written for me, but they wouldn't do it. They refused to help.
Pacific Legal Foundation consistently exceeds my expectations. PLF has a strong reputation for defending property rights and civil rights especially on the California coast where public agencies routinely mandate illegal takings against small property owners who without PLF's help would be powerless to defend themselves.
As former Executive Director, HP Grants, I am familiar with evaluating nonprofits on the health of their organization. I have also had the pleasure to work directly with key staff, Paul Beard and others and on land rights issues as a coastal land owner.
In my opinion, Rob Rivett and his team are one of the worlds best kept secrets. I strongly recommend PLF if you are considering donating, volunteering or using their pro bono services.
