Mission: Promotes and celebrates italian culture and heritage
Programs: Pacific italian alliance celebrated and promoted italian culture and heritage with newsletters and special events, including the "luke" awards dinner, normally held annually honoring an italian-american who has contributed greatly to the betterment and enhancement of our community. This public event is normally attended by the italian consul general and the honorable anthony p. Lucaccini, judge of the superior court of san joaquin county, and receives widespread media attention. Pacific italian alliance was also instrumental in maintaining the sister-city relationship with parma, italy and stockton, california, in addition to sponsoring "notte italiana" celebrating an italian theme with prominent speakers, cooking competitions, and wine and cheese tastings; and continued publication of "corriere della valle" the seasonal magazine featuring the various regions of italy which is widely circulated in the community. Pacific italian alliance also promoted a student outreach program to the community, benefitting the organization and local schools offering italian classes as part of their curriculum. In conjunction with another italian american organization, associazione liguri nel mondo, sponsored a $500 scholarship award to a deserving student; and collaborated with author ralph a. Clark in publishing a book "italians of san joaquin county" in the images of america series. In addition pacific italian alliance collaborated with other local italian american organizations to produce the "festa italiana giorno della famiglia" (on hiatus in 2017) to promote and celebrate the culture, history and traditons of all things italian.
