Mission: Pacific health ministry ("phm") is a nonprofit organization, exempt under irc 501(c)(3), established in 1986 for the purpose of developing hospital ministry and clinical pastoral education programs in hawaii. The mission of phm is to provide the highest quality inter-faith spiritual care to the people of hawaii, pastoral training to students from around the world, and education to the community. Phm currently provides services to hawaii's major medical centers and assisted living facilities.
Programs: To provide ministry of healing and care as part of an interdisciplinary approach to meet the needs of the sick and elderly of the community.
the clinical pastoral education ("cpe") program at phm gives strong emphasis to direct clinical practice to enhance spiritual care skills and provide opportunities to experience people from many backgrounds. Learning happens in a small group seminar setting that includes review of pastoral practice, group dynamics, didactic presentations and experiential events with hawaii institutions and community organizations. The supervisors put strong emphasis on developing individualized learning programs to fit specific needs. The goal is to craft a training program that will prepare students for ministry service following their cpe experience.
