I had the pleasure of adopting a dog from Out of the Box Boxer Rescue just over a year ago, and have been a fan of theirs since. Since all their dogs are fostered, their personalities, likes, and dislikes become known. When we adopted our Lucy, we knew she was good with children as well as other dogs. They are committed to making sure that the dogs in their care are placed in the homes they are best suited to. I spent a great deal of time on the phone and in contact with her foster Mom and felt like I knew both her and Lucy even before I met them. They were very thorough in their application process and reference verification. This is all necessary to ensure a successful adoption to a forever family. I highly recommend OBBR!
My Luna was adopted from obbr last Jan. She was born in rescue and has been a lot of fun this last year. Every aspect of the rescue experience was done well. We love our girl. Here’s her baby shot this time last year. And now!
Super amazing rescue. We had lost our last boxer to cancer in July 2017. We were heartbroken. She was an older rescue as well. We have a heart for the older dogs. We ran across Out of the Boxer Rescue. We adopted Uno , their first ever rescue in October 2017 and have been delighted with him . The volunteers have such a passion and a big heart for these dogs. They are given the best care and all the love needed to prepare them for their forever homes. Thank you for your ongoing dedication, time and love for each of these precious babies.
This is an amazing nonprofit doing amazing things for amazing dogs! We got our first ever dog from Out Of The Box Boxer Rescue and the process was super easy. Their team rescued our sweet dog from another state, transported him to their hospital and gave him all the love and care he needed! The foster parents took wonderful care of him and we couldn’t be happier to be his FOREVER family!! I would highly recommend this organization to anyone! He is so incredibly sweet to my kids and even helps them do their homework!
I started volunteering with out of the box boxer rescue several years ago because of the tremendous need to help save the lives of boxers that would otherwise be euthenized, my love for the breed and the fact that every person that started this particular rescue did it out of the goodness of their hearts. This group of volunteers are truly Gods hands to dogs in need. It is my honor and privledge to be called their friend. One of the greatest needs in the world of rescue is fostering. When a dog is put in a shelter their days are numbered because the shelters can only hold so many especially if they are old, sick or fearful and aggressive. The only way rescues can help these dogs in need is if they have a home for them to go to while they are getting ready for their forever home, this is called a foster home. Taking in a dog that has been abandoned for whatever the reason has been one of the greatest experiences Of my and my children’s lives. We get the chance to actually love a dog back to health and give them a second chance. I have realized having the opportunity to be a small part in transforming a dogs life and teach them to trust again and see their happy ever after is a small part of why God put me here on earth. We are their voice, and their hope. While it’s a hard emotional job what I gain from the experience is far more then what I will ever give. Below are some of the dogs we’ve helped save❤️
In September of 2017, we lost our rescue girl Bella. After losing 3 Boxers to different cancers, I was determined that I was DONE. But my heart overruled my head, and I began scouring the internet for rescues. I was surfing a friend's page, and she had included a link for petfinder. I hadn't thought of petfinder in a long time. I clicked the link and a sweet, but thin, flashy fawn face stared back at me. I knew right then she was meant to be mine, or I was meant to be hers. I called the rescue to set up an appointment to meet this little girl. I brought her home with me on April 20; almost 7 months ago, and named her Bonnie Blue. She is the beat of my heart, the twinkle in my eyes, and the laughter in my soul. Thank you Karine Vuillen and Out of the Box for allowing me to have this girl in my life. I think she rescued me more than I rescued her.
My 8 year old white boxer passed away after many bouts with cancer, and we were in the market for a new boxer after several months. We did our research, and Out of the Box Boxer Rescue had the best reviews by far! After contacting them we were told that a "couple" was rescued - Rhett and Scarlett - and Scarlett was pregnant and had just had pups! We adopted a little fawn girl, and when I went to visit her with my kids I was blown away by how carefully and lovingly they were being cared for. My kids and I were all able to sit with mom and watch the babies nurse - it was remarkable. Donna, the caretaker/foster/superhero was super careful about watching the puppies grow, and about when she would let them leave. The paperwork I signed was thorough, and what impressed me the most about OBBR is that they have no facility - they are entirely foster-based. That way they can tell you ALL about a dog. Their behaviors, how they are with other animals, kids, everything. I think this is absolutely the right approach to saving dogs.
Our little fawn girl just turned 1, and I have become a foster with OBBR as a result of how impressed I was with their thoroughness and care. I have worked with other rescues before, but this was a far different approach, and it showed me how much love and time (and money) these folks put into these dogs. Driving across several states to pick up a dog in need is par for the course for them. Nursing pups back from death is normal. It's astonishing, and it's inspiring.
I cannot say enough about how this organization changed my life, and my husband's life too (he is totally on board and does a lot of the travel). I truly thank them, and I will give everything I have to help them. These folks are real heroes, in the truest sense of the word.
