My husband and I adopted 11 years ago when Orphan Care Alliance was just getting going. Even back then they provided opportunities to grow, learn and share. They have an excellent support team. They are always interested in new and fresh ideas and ways to serve the community that serves orphans.
Darren and his wife and team are innovative, determined and faithful.
At one point, we took in 4 older teens, for a year and a half after we had adopted our 5, we needed beds since we now had 17 kids in the home and they had connections with stores and services that provided the extras we need in a quick. Big blessing!
Orphan Care is a daunting task and the Orhan Care Alliance Team is bringing the support,
I know because 11 years later we are adopting again and we feel the love and love them back!
My husband and I have been blessed by this non-profit. They have provided community and helpful information as we journey into foster care. I am so grateful we have something like this in our area. I keep hearing chatter all over Louisville about this ministry and the great things they are doing!
OCA is dedicated to the well being of the fatherless. It is a transparent nonprofit on a mission to equip as many Christians as possible to care for orphans. A truly GREAT nonprofit!!!
OCA is an amazing resource for foster and adoptive families. They are changing lives by giving family support, helping keep families together and investing in teens in foster care through life coaching. They host a retreat for adoptive/foster moms and provide monthly connect groups throughout the area for foster and adoptive families. OCA is a true gift to the community!
Amazing work by an amazing organization. Few organizations have such far reaching effect on their community.
I have volunteered with OCA in the office for 7 years. The director & his wife are truly devoted to this ministry and reaching the fatherless. They both work tirelessly to promote the welfare of children who do not have the benefit of a stable home and loving parents. They seek no compensation and you can be sure that when you donate to OCA you are truly giving to the fatherless. OCA is well respected and seeks to support many churches throughout KY and beyond as they seek to support and facilitate service to these children. This is a non-profit that is truly serving families & children in need in every way and seeks to preserve the family unit. Definitely 100% love this non-profit. OCA has also been contacted by other states seeking to replicate their model of serving the fatherless.
I am an educator leading at a small mission-based school focused on individualized learning. This school was struggling; OCA through their compassion took the school on and added them to their ministries in order to help support the mission and vision of the school, which aligns very closely with their own. OCA has provided resources both materially, and in the way of leadership to bring this school back to life! I have been amazed at how they function so well as a team and do not place barriers on what God can do! When our staff has questions, they pray and have ideas and answers! I have been very blessed to work with OCA, as they are blessing all of our staff and students! The support OCA gives the school is tremendous! We would not be here without them.
OCA literally change my life. My family would not be the same without them. They helped us raise funds for both of our adoptions (Ethiopia and Uganda).
They are a fantastic charity. What they are doing to help foster kids in Kentuckiana and help orphans around the world is unmatched.
I'm also proud to volunteer with them now as a board member. I love getting the chance to give back and be a part of OCA.
I am very appreciative for the H3 conference (Hope, Help, Heal) that was hosted the fall of 2013. It was very helpful with understanding special parenting issues and skills that are often associated with adoption. I am very pleased that OCA will be offering this conference again this fall. With these type of events being offered free to the community many more families will be blessed in the coming years.
I first encountered Orphan Care Alliance (OCA) after attending an adoption/foster care seminar in Louisville, KY. The seminar was helpful, informative and well done. Since then I have served as a seminar speaker and now as a hub coordinator for a new Lexington area hub of this nonprofit.
In addition to partnering with churches and engaging volunteers, the organization has done the hard work of starting a Safe Families for Children program in Kentucky - an awesome ministry that serves families in crisis and prevents children from entering foster care.
They are supportive of and have a good working relationship with state foster care system workers, and aim to work in partnership (not competition) with area churches, businesses and individuals.
Their life coaching ministry reaches older foster youth who often age out without supportive adults in their lives and their family support and advocacy programs encourage people to consider adoption and foster care, and then OCA supports them along the way. I would highly recommend supporting the work of OCA!
