Programs: The oromo house was purchased in december 2008 with mortgage loan and contribution from members. The purchase of this building facilitated giving all other services to the community members. It is administered and run by members-volunteers who give service without any pay. Since the purchase of this house the organization has started implementing most of its projects. Educational forums and other social gatherings. With the cooperation of dc government african affairs and health department conferences were organized in this building and the participants received health awareness and other education. Unemployed community members come to the oromo house to get assistance including computer training which is provided with the cooperation of an ngo and executive secretary. Organizations expenses are related to this building are mortgage interest, depreciation and occupancy expenses. Revenue is generated from renting a floor to a church and members contributions.
immigration and other services: the community organization helped about ten oromos to get immigration support and provided health awareness training for the community. We have provided services related to job search, showed different job websites, provided supporting letter, prepared resume for some of the community member looking for job. Oco provided all sorts of social and community support services to its members including making every effort to help collect money from oco members to help family in need. Organized several social events such as coffee events, dinner parties, family picnic and advocacy work for human right. Most of the services are provided by volunteers-members who are dedicated in helping their compatriots.
