Mission: To create experiences that enlighten, entertain and enrich the lives of family and young audiences.
Programs: Theatrical productions - orlando repertory theatre (orlando rep) presents 6 professional productions (september to may) and 3-4 youth productions each year for general public and student audiences. Productions occur in orlando rep's three-theatre complex. To enhance and broaden youth understanding of theatre, most of orlando rep's productions are derived from children's literature, many of which are required reading in grades k-8. Approximately 40,000 children experience productions each year through school field trips, for which teachers utilize rep-created resource guides to enhance curriculum in their classrooms. Another 30,000 (est. ) people visited with their families for public weekend performances.
theatre education & outreach - orlando repertory theatre reaches youth in our community through our award-winning youth academy of camps and classes and thoughtfully designed community engagement to reach the most underserved in our community. Our academy welcomes over 2,000 students per year to our camps and classes. Community engagement programs reach out to provide free or discounted field trips for title 1 schools, scholarships for our camps and classes, professional development for local schoolteachers, and character-building for at-risk youth.
theatre spaces & rentals - as a member of the central florida arts community, orlando rep offers the rental of its spaces & production materials throughout the year to other organizations. Orlando rep's three-theatre complex provides space for both orlando rep's own activities as well as providing a secondary performance space for the theatre ucf program & tya mfa programming. The complex serves as a secondary classroom or laboratory for graduate students in the tya mfa program. Additionally, other community nonprofit organizations & school groups (international fringe festival of central florida, united arts of central florida, circle christian school, orlando community church, etc. ) utilize orlando rep's spaces, properties, & costume pieces to improve their work in the local community.
