Mission: OSALT was created in response to the increasing trends of consolidating farms into ever-larger operations, the demise of small family growers, and the paving over of farmlands. OSALT protects both rural and urban lands, and currently holds the deeds to one parcel of each. Most of our efforts are directed at education; we speak to thousands of people each year about food, health, nutrition, the global food system, and the future of farms. Long-term goals are to keep land in agriculture and develop sustainable production and distribution methods for food, fiber and building materials.
