Mission: Orange County Search & Rescue (OCSR) is an all-volunteer emergency response team that is organized as a public benefit, non-profit, 501(c)3 corporation. The team provides public efforts. OCSR is governed by an independent board of directors and is managed by team officers. OCSR was founded in 1963 by a small group of individuals who were teamed to assist in the search for a missing child in La Palma, California. The team has a membership of about 50 members, comprising several operational and support units. OCSR interfaces with many agencies, both governmental and private. The team may be affiliated with other groups such as the Orange County Cities Emergency Management Organization (OCCEMO), Mountain Rescue Association (MRA), California Emergency Management System (California EMS), United States Forest Service (USFS).
