Causes: Racquet Sports, Sports
Mission: Promoting interest and participation in the sport of tennis in orange county, california through education, programs, and events for all residents.
Programs: Tennis after school program - the organization funds tennis lessons for beginning players in elementary and junior high school. The purpose is to provide a convenient, low-cost way for children to begin participating in tennis. Approximately 1,500 students participated in this program.
general - these expenses are incurred for the benefit of all programs and are not allocable to any specific one. For example, the organization has succeeded in bringing four divisions of junior national championships to orange county for two years in a row.
leagues - certain local leagues are funded and governed by the organization. Over 1,000 individuals participate in this competitive program.
pre-satellite tournaments - this is a series of tournaments offered to those juniors who have not participated in sanctioned satellite tournaments. The objective of this program is to give those individuals tournament playing experience.
special events - the occta sponsors a usta sanctioned junior open tournament, round-robin adult tennis fun days, and workshops for tennis instructors and coaches.
top gun tournament - the occta acquired this annual adult tournament as a fundraiser to provide funding for the other programs because of elimination or reduction in grants received from the usta and scta.
